121 - Fish - Cali

  Hey Diary,

It’s been two days, and things are better. Like, a lot better.

I asked Mom if she’s ever met Goddess Bonnie, and that opened a whole area of her life I never knew about. She wasn’t born here in Fish. She doesn’t remember her childhood, just that she grew up in a big city. Apparently something happened a few years before I was born, and everything before that is fuzzy; erased. She knows she’s met the Goddess, but the only thing she knows for sure about that meeting was that cake was involved.

Mom said she’s always been afraid of her memory being erased again. If it happens, and I’m not around, then she won’t remember me. When I got back, she tried to make things like I’d never left and would never leave again because she was scared. She doesn’t want to lose me.

Dad said he knows not even magic could make him forget me, which is why he decided to rebuild without “my” room. In the letter I wrote when I left, I said I’m an adult and can do things on my own, so in his mind, he’s respecting that. I have money from my job, so I can find my own place to live, like an adult would. Or I can help him work some, and in return I get to stay in the barn, like he’d offer to any other person passing through.

So I understand why my parents were treating me like how they did. I also kinda yelled at them a little about it.

I mean, a reason isn’t an excuse. Even though I understand why Mom doesn’t want me to leave again, it doesn’t make her trying to keep me here ok. Knowing Dad is trying to treat me like an adult doesn’t make him treating me like a stranger ok.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

We all cried, and I’m staying in Wisp’s room tonight. There’s still no extra bed, but they moved the furniture around so I have a semi-private corner to put my flying carpet in. Physically, it’s about the same as staying in the barn. But it’s a lot nicer emotionally.

Anyways, our wagon is coming along nicely. Maeve made the tarp, and Luke made all the pocket dimensions that will be going in. I’ve asked around, and haven’t found any horses for sale, but there’s… Well, there’s a pride of liondrakes that moved into the area when all the earthquakes were happening, and Dad hasn’t been able to get them to leave. I kinda think it would be the absolute most epic thing ever if I could get them to pull our wagon.

There’s three of them; a male and two females. They’re all for sure strong enough to pull the wagon without issue. And they can fly or walk, depending on what they feel like doing, and when they get tired, they could just switch.

The main problem would be feeding them. They’re carnivores. Sure, there’s places where they could go hunt whatever they wanted, but there’s lots of places where them hunting would be bad.

I have an insane Charm level, so I know I could keep them from eating anyone. Liondrakes are drakes; they have a base level of psychic magic, and are pretty easy to manipulate if you shower them in adoration. Every Beastmaster knows that to not get eaten, just convince yourself you’re in awe of their beauty instead of afraid, and they’ll start showing off instead of attacking. If we showed up in a city with them, they’d get more amazed stares than they know what to do with.

I don’t think I could convince Luke or Maki to even let me ask the liondrakes if they want to join us. I know it’s a bad idea to use carnivores instead of herbivores.

  But it’d be so epic.

I’ll have to figure out a way of convincing them to let me as I dream.

  Signing off,
