44 - Traveling - Maeve

  Dear Risa,

We’re on the road again! Who knew being a messenger of the Goddess would involve taking messages places.

We’re currently taking a stack of papers to Stoneford, and then we’ll be continuing on to Setemup and then Mouse. That’s pretty close to the border of Raddish, so I expect to see more fairies there. And maybe Broccolian nekos, with their rounded ears and stubby tails.

Yes, we have discussed this at length, but I stand by my view that short tails are cute. And probably never get mud on them.

Hmm. If we get there, I’ll have to find Cali a nice guy from Broccoli. Then someday we’ll find out how genetics works, if their kids have a mix of traits or end up with semi-short tails and semi-pointed ears.

Of course, that’s assuming she’s into guys, which at this point I’m not too sure about. But then, as much as she doesn’t have a “cute guy radar”, she doesn’t seem to have a “cute girl radar” either. We need to spend more time with you, Risa dear, with your “cute living being radar”, so you can figure it out.

I would say I should find Maki a nice girl from Raddish, buuut I don’t think he’s recovered from his ex trying to poison him yet. Not that I’ve brought it up or anything, he just still wears that poison resistance earring. If he wasn’t paranoid, he wouldn’t wear it.

I wonder if he ever told Dad about that. Mas was the one who handled it all, and I was too busy yelling “I told you she’s crazy” to think about telling our parents… They might not know their son was nearly killed by his girlfriend for forgetting her birthday.

Iiii might need to talk to Luke about how important he thinks birthdays and anniversaries are. I don’t think either of us care all that much, but double-checking can never hurt.

Speaking of Luke, he spent most of today making the tiniest set of message stones ever. He said it’s a good way of practicing small runes for when he needs to carve a gem. But they’re so tiny! They’re smaller than my pinky pad, and they work! He tied yarn around them in a fancy pattern and made them into bracelets. I have one, and he has the other, and Risa, I swear if you laugh at this part I will end you.

In other news, Cali finally got that flying carpet she wanted. She spent a while today figuring out exactly what it can do, how fast it can go, all that good stuff. One of the things she discovered was that if she only gives mana to the corner runes, then pulls them together, it basically becomes a hammock. Cali is going to spend the night in it, to see if it’ll keep working while she’s asleep. If it doesn’t, she’ll wake up on the ground, which she isn’t worried about.

Maki has decided the front bench of the wagon is more comfortable than the ground, and volunteered to sleep there tonight. Whiiich just so happens to leave space for two people in the wagon itself.

Overall, I’ve gotta say, my brother and cousin are kinda the best. They don’t make a big deal out of anything, they don’t tease when it matters, they’re good people. I should tell them that at some point.

  Thankful Regards,

  Maeve Zee
