  — — — —

Unlike the Giant Wolf path, Arthur felt confused when reading the details of this path. He didn’t understand the criteria or conditions that made him acquire it. He wasn’t fast, nor agile, and as for Magical Affinity, he had no idea.

Speaking of Magical Affinity, Arthur had a sudden realization—or rather, he noticed something he had overlooked: his Talent Rank.

This was literally a fantasy world, so it was reasonable to assume there was a grading system for talents. Even in his own world, talent was an important factor that determined the fate of many people.

'I feel like I’m missing something. Maybe there really is a talent ranking, but perhaps this is a system used by humans, not monsters.

As far as I remember, the Spider Woman never mentioned talent; she only focused on the importance of lineage and the Primal Core. But its connection to Magical Affinity? I have no idea.'

His theory made sense, yet his questions multiplied. To get clear answers, he asked the system without hesitation:

You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.

"System, what is my Talent Rank? And what Magical Affinity do I have? Also, how did I acquire the Wind Wolf evolution path?"

  — — — —

[ Since you are a monster, your Talent Rank is determined by the strength of your lineage.

Your bloodline is currently A-Rank and can improve due to the effects of "Primal Predator", so your Talent can be classified as Very High to Mythic.]

[ Wolves generally have a strong affinity for Wind and Ice. Due to your powerful bloodline, you automatically met the conditions to evolve into a Wind Wolf.]

  [— Current Magical Affinities —]

  – Primary Affinity: Wind – High

  – Secondary Affinities:

? Ice – Moderate (Sub Affinity)

  ? Dark – Moderate

  ? Earth – Weak

  ? Arcane – Weak

  — — — —

"So that’s how it is." After reading the system messages, Arthur confirmed his hypothesis and realized the value of his bloodline.

What excited and pleased him even more was that it could improve—and that alone was enough to make any monster in this world die of envy.

According to what he understood from the Spider Woman, improving the quality of a bloodline was extremely difficult. There were very few, rare ways to do it, and even then, the improvement was usually minor.

He wanted to think more about it, but this wasn’t the right time. Soon after, he read the description of the other evolution path, which was intriguing in several ways.

[ Zombie Wolf – Hybrid Evolution Path ]

Type: Hybrid Evolution (Physical & Magical)

Focus: Extreme Endurance, Vitality, Regeneration, and dark magic.

Sub Affinities: Life (Regeneration/Healing), Arcane (strange/unnatural powers)

  — Advantages —

  – Greatly enhances Endurance and Vitality, allowing the body to endure massive damage

  — Significantly accelerates Regeneration, making it possible to heal most injuries quickly

  — Reduces pain sensitivity, allowing continued combat despite injuries

–Medium-sized body with moderate offensive power

  — Strong Dark Element Affinity, boosting stealth capabilities

  — Mana storage ranges from moderate to above average.

  — Disadvantages —

  – Extremely weak against Light, Fire, and Lightning magic.

  – Although resistant to Wind and Ice magic, physical speed and mobility are limited.

  – All stats decrease by 5% during daytime; desert environments impose additional challenges.]

  — — — —

A contemplative look appeared on his face as he analyzed seriously:

'All three paths are balanced in a certain way. They have equal pros and cons. In short, the Giant Wolf path would make me bigger and stronger at the cost of my Speed, Agility, and magical potential.

That’s not a suitable option. I want to use magic, so there’s no way I can choose this path.

That leaves me with two options. Wind Wolf seems acceptable since my life is full of running, but fast, hit-and-run combat isn’t really my style—even though I could get used to it. I don’t think the other advantages are worth it.'

He paused for a moment and turned his gaze toward the last option:

'Zombie Wolf… this path feels like it was made for me, which makes sense since I acquired it after surviving so many bloody fights.

However, its drawbacks are really annoying and could be a major obstacle for me in the future.'

He couldn’t choose randomly; his future depended on one of these three paths. So he took his time, thought seriously, and studied it from multiple angles. After about an hour of comparisons, he finally made his decision.

Without any more hesitation, he pressed the third option: "Zombie Wolf." The reason was simple.

Unlike the other two paths, this one gave him greater advantages and left plenty of room to grow in the future, covering his weaknesses. It was also suitable for facing the threats of this forest and increased his chances of survival.

  [Rank Up in Progress…]

  [Evolution in Progress…]

  [Alert]

[The effectiveness of all your skills will decrease during the rank-up process.]

  [1%… 2%…]

Unlike his first rank-up, Arthur this time felt extreme weakness and a strong drowsiness, and the loading bar progressed very slowly. At the same time, his body grew intensely hot, especially in his chest area.

He felt his body being refined, growing tougher and more resilient. His Vitality increased, his body expanded slightly, and his fur became more impressive. From his forehead, two small bumps appeared, gradually growing into thin, sharp horns.

Their color shifted, leaning more toward red, and a small white line appeared under his eyes. And strangest of all, a secend tail grew behind him.

Although these changes were incredible, Arthur couldn’t fully focus on them because the pain in his chest suddenly intensified. The system screen appeared in front of him again.

  [Alert]

  [Primal Core Awakening]

'It’s begun.' Arthur endured the burning pain, focusing intensely on his chest. He noticed a small core forming, pearl-like, connected to hundreds of tiny and large hollow arteries spread throughout his body. He instinctively realized that these were the pathways for Mana flow.
