Rookie battle condition met, ‘win 4 dungeon battles as a rookie dungeon’: 2,500,000 essence.]
Peter still felt a bit sickened, but he could put it aside thanks to the excitement of the his rewards. The battle essence collected was barely more than the prior year despite killing a bunch of A tiers and even an S tier. Then again Tombstone had retreated his own forces back into his dungeon. Peter could only assume that despite losing, Tombstone would recover far more essence. Not that Peter did not receive far more for winning. The essence reward of 3 million along with the battle condition for winning 4 battles as a rookie dungeon gave him 5.5 million. It was a shame both only went up by half a million from last year.
Peter immediately turned his attention to his support card unlock and his packs. Peter could unlock another epic card, but instead elected to unlock another rare. He would have a greater chance of actually getting the card sooner than later. Then he would be able to unlock 2 epic cards in a row, before he was forced to open an uncommon and stair step back up.
Double Tap (R)
Random A tier type origional card (R)
Tier up increase (R)
Peter had not gotten the double tap option last time, but it was something he was very familiar with. He immediately passed over it to look at the other two. He did not really care to destroy extra cores of his defeated opponents. His gaze would constantly be looking higher, what would he care whether Salamander or Tombstone lurked around in his year group. The only tempting part was that it would give him double the type cards for destroying two cores when he defeated someone regardless of whether they were eliminated. If they were eliminated he would get triple the cards. Still not all his opponents had card types that were more useful than any other.
The random A tier type card was just what it said. It would turn into a single original card of another core type not currently being used. That meant there were literally thousands of potential possibilities. Still it would only be one original card and the resultant stock options. However, there was one tempting aspect. With his first use he would have a 10% chance to get one of the restricted type cards. Type cards are not picked by cores, and could only be achieved through support cards like this or trading with someone who had gotten one.
Peter had heard of several different restricted types. Infernal flames was a type that the demon faction apparently all sought after. The demon millennial and an infernal corps of A and S tier units. Their black flames melted everything around them. The millennial did not really need them to cull dungeons, but liked to bring them out as a show of force. Many of the centurion dungeons had their own infernal corps, although they were a fraction of the size.
Another popular restricted card type was the giant type. Dragon apparently had that type card. He had a dragon so large it could not even fit through the floor entrances and had to be magically brought from one floor to another. It had come up in conversation since it was one of the rare SSS units that was well known. Not only was it large it was inconceivably strong. Based on his armageddon dragons SS tier void beam, Peter could only imagine what a SSS unit would be like.
A 10% chance did not seem like too high of a possibility, but it would increase by 10% with each use. Meaning if he used 10 of them he would for sure get a restricted type original. However when he did get the restricted type card, it would go back to 10%. It was a more of a long game choice for sure. Unlike the next choice.
The Tier up increase card would move one attribute up to the next tier. It would automatically tier up as long as the attribute was not at the (-) rank, but even then there was a 80% chance. A failure would still be 2 ranks above at the (+) rank for the tier. The tier up was automatic for the regular or (+) ranks, however if an attribute was at (+) it even had a chance of breaking through to the tier after, a 10 % chance for a A (+) attribute to become a SS (-).
This card was certainly better than his common version that might not even bring something up a rank at all. The only downside was that he could only use one increase type support card on a summon. This tier up would certainly be a good choice.

Peter found himself stuck between the second and third choices. The tier up card would make getting S tier units or even a SS attribute quite a bit easier. However the long game with the chance at getting restricted cards was also extremely tempting. Peter could not help but to wonder how good the epic versions of these cards would be. A random S tier original…?
Seeing his indecision, Delilah, now back in headquarters, chimed in. “Most are siding with the tier up option. Our chances at getting rare support cards is still fairly infrequent, so our chances of building that percentage would take time. A few of the gamblers or the dreamers still like the random card option however. It at least opens doors, expands our options.”
Delilah sighed deeply. “Khan wants me to tell you to pick the double tap option since at the very least we would get 5 extra A tier cards each time.. He said 5 A tiers would be more beneficial than getting 1 A tier of some random type or increasing one unit’s attribute 3 ranks.
“Thanks, for the input,” Peter said, rolling his eyes.
“Anything to help… dear.”
Khan had a point. Short term getting 5 more A tiers was likely better than even if he was able to get a new weak S tier using this increase, but as always the old elf was a bit shortsighted. Dungeon cores with decades and centuries on them would always have more. Peter’s whole goal was to build a replicating force from maelstroms that would pay themselves over many times as they ceaselessly summoned new B and C tiers for them.
Just because they would always have more A tiers did not have to mean that Peter would give up the true elite, S tiers. There was no reason that he could not have more than at least the dungeons only slightly older than him. Not to mention the maelstroms off them were what he wanted the most. The tier up card would almost guarantee a S tier unit, if used when he got a good option.
Still Perhaps he was one of the dreamers or gamblers since he really wanted to go with the random type card option. Having a restricted type would be really cool, but getting a S tier unit would still not be guaranteed. Peter selected the tier up option, siding with the majority of his staff.
Peter then proceeded to mass open packs. Peter first noticed that he had received a rare card, however it was another resurrect card, leaving him with 3 in total. It was his fifth rare card to receive. He felt a bit frustrated that he had not gotten his latest toy or even the one before that. It was a bit grating, then again a resurrect would basically put a fallen piece back on the table so it was hard to be too upset.
It was then that Peter realized he had gotten an epic support card. It was his first epic card to get naturally from a card pack. It was a free maelstrom. The S tier design card would have been nice since it would have given him a new S tier, but Peter was just as happy with another maelstrom of his strongest B tier, the armageddon dragon. The first maelstrom had already been far too expensive at 10 million essence, so paying 11 million for the 2nd would have been even more so.
Peter went ahead and purchased the maelstrom. His dungeon would now produce 240 B tier armageddon dragons a year. With his B tier Holy armor dragon maelstrom he would be receiving 360 B tiers a year. Peter’s body shivered in excitement. It would take 3.6 million essence for an opponent to match what he would get for free from now on.
Peter went ahead and did the math. He had 26 C tier maelstroms 1 for the tinkerer gnomes, and 5 each for the light crusaders, turtle warriors, spectral armor, ghastly soldiers, and dark mauler elves which gave him 3,600 C tiers a year. That was another 1.8 million units worth for free each year. He also had 2 each of the D tier innate space sorcerers and iron glider flies, but they did not add overly much to his annual savings. Still he basically had over 5 million essence worth of units coming to him for free till the end of time. It was only a drop in the bucket, but definitely a good start
Other than the rare and the epic, his common support cards were all brought back into the 30’s except for increase aspect which was left at 28 and dungeon upgrades at 14. His doublification and equipment were now both in the 40’s as was triplification since he also got 10 for the upcoming year. For uncommons, he was also now up to 7 replicators, 9 spawners, and 8 card transfer types.
Peter really only cared about the latter, since spawners only worked for C tier and below and replicators were hard to use since they required burning up more cards. The transfer types were nice, it was their existence that had leaned him towards the random card type original option since they were a way of getting more of any card he had previously used. He really liked them, but had so far not even touched them.
Peter could not help himself but to go ahead and buy the next year's card packs. He had over 6 million essence and he did not have any big trade deals to worry about like last year. He spent 250,000 for the 10 packs. He could not believe his luck, no epics, but getting another rare with only 10 packs was pretty good in itself. Even better, the card was a unique masterwork item. He decided to use the card immediately. Which reminded him.
“Delilah did we recover that scepter?”
“Sorta, the bastard smashed it when it was clear he would die. Glenda still thinks she can learn something from the pieces."
“Oh… Okay well I’m going to use this item card. It will be in my inventory, you can go ahead and distribute it to whomever in the magic college for study. Although make sure they understand not to use it if its one time use or damage it…,” Peter warned. Delilah did not even respond.
What appeared was what looked like a large railroad spike. It was called a beast augmentation spike. It was also labeled as a multi use consumable. Peter understood that, as it could be used until it broke. As far as description, it just said ‘when inserted will augment a beast's physical capabilities.’ It did not specify by how much. A bit frustrating but he would take it, especially if Glenda was able to figure out how to recreate them. Even if it was only a rank, strengthening thousands of beast units could definitely make a difference.
