Chapter 6 - Treasure Pavilion

Seeing that Gu Xuan’s has already made up his decision and Elder Chen was most likely not gonna offer again, Guo Meifeng didn’t say anything further and changed the subject, “Oh right, we have to go to the Treasure Pavilion next after getting your Sect Token made.”
“I’m aware, Senior Brother Ling told me a while ago when he introduced the buildings of the Central District to me.”
“Since you already know, I won’t say anymore, later on, we’ll get your treasure in the Treasure Pavilion.”
Gu Xuan just nodded.
As they waited for the Sect Token, Gu Xuan and Guo Meifeng chitchatted.
Although it was technically chitchatting, it was mostly Guo Meifeng speaking and Gu Xuan replying to common phrases like, “I see.”, “Is that so?”, “I agree.”
Even Guo Meifeng noticed so she pouted and complained, “Is Senior Sister that boring to talk to?”
Gu Xuan was a little taken aback by her sudden question but soon noticed that his words were indeed a little devoid of any interest in the conversation. Although deep inside he was really not very interested, what he did just now looked rude and was not okay in public so he reasoned.
“It’s not that Senior Sister Guo is boring to talk to, it’s just that I haven’t had much interaction ever since I learned to cultivate. At most, I’d greet a simple hello, or chat with my neighbors for a few minutes before I either go hunt for food or go to the river to take a bath. I apologize if I somehow offended Senior Sister Guo with my lack of ability to socialize.”
“If that’s the case, then your vocabulary is understandable. Senior Sister Guo will teach you how to communicate properly without seeming rude. When you have a Junior Sister in the future that you have a crush on, you don’t want to have awkward conversations right?” Guo Meifeng teased.
Gu Xuan just laughed awkwardly, he really wasn’t very interested.
Furthermore, Gu Xuan wasn’t socially awkward even if he hadn’t socialized a lot, it was just a reason.
He really just wasn’t interested in speaking with Guo Meifeng or any other. It creates unnecessary connections.
There would inevitably be invitations to hang out and such but Gu Xuan was already busy with cultivation and didn’t have time for them.
Wouldn’t it create unnecessary grievances since he doesn’t go with them most of the time or even not at all?
And at this stage of life as well, he doesn’t want to diversify his interpersonal connections since he plans to live for thousands or even millions of years.
Whereas, these people don't even know the vastness of the cultivation world.
Stolen novel; please report.
By that time, the people he makes connections with at this phase of his life, would already be ashes with the passage of time and might have already even gone through their 5th or 6th reincarnation.
So in terms of social interaction, Gu Xuan keeps it at a bare minimum.
As for Guo Meifeng who was chatting with him right now, besides having a pretty acquaintance, he doesn’t see merit in continuing to interact with her.
After a few more minutes passed, Elder Chen who was originally in what could be considered as a kitchen in a restaurant within the Forging House, walked towards them and threw a token in Gu Xuan’s way.
Gu Xuan, of course, caught it since it was coming his direction.
Elder Chen then snorted, “There’s your sect token. Now that you’ve got it, get out of my forge. If you want to flirt, flirt outside.”
Hearing Elder Chen’s words, Guo Meifeng blushed slightly and couldn’t help but look twice towards Gu Xuan’s face.
Gu Xuan on the other hand, although understood, didn’t take it seriously and cupped his fist, “Thank you, Elder Chen.”
Seeing that Gu Xuan didn’t care very much, Guo Meifeng felt as if she had been splashed by cold water but then remembered that Gu Xuan was not only a socially awkward junior brother, he seem to also be a cultivation addict so she didn’t take it to heart and excused herself as well.
Elder Chen who was walking towards the forge just waved his hand without turning towards them.
As Gu Xuan walked out of the Forging House, he looked at his sect token with his name and tier.
The number on the tier number was 4.
Seeing it as “Tier 4”, he couldn’t help but frown, ‘I’ve heard Senior Brother Ling talk about it before but what does it really mean?’
He turned his face to Guo Meifeng and inquired, “Senior Sister, what does Tier 4 mean?”
“Ah? You don’t know yet, do you?” Guo Meifeng then explained with a smile, “There are 5 tiers in the Central District. This is based on talent. Tier 5 is the highest. Disciples who break through before the age of 10 are Tier 5, before the age of 15 is Tier 4, before the age of 20 is Tier 3, before the age of 25 is Tier 2, and the lowest are those who break through after the age of 25 which is Tier 1. I’m Tier 3 by the way.”
‘Who asked about yourself?’ Although Gu Xuan thought this with his slightly annoying side, he didn’t say it, after all, it was rude.
At least he finally learned the criteria of the tiers from her.
Gu Xuan nodded his head to indicate he understood, and asked, “What’s the use of tier levels?”
Guo Meifeng then said with an envious expression, “Tier 3 and above can get a treasure. Tier 3 can only get one treasure from the 1st floor. Meanwhile Tier 4 can get two treasures from the 1st floor and one treasure on the 2nd floor. Tier 5 can get one treasure from the 3rd floor, two from the 2nd, and three from the 1st floor. The higher the floor, the more precious, and the more powerful it is.”
“I see…”
Guo Meifeng assumed that Gu Xuan might not know about treasures so he explained further, “Treasures in the Treasure Pavilion are spiritual treasures that can be activated with inner qi, having different kinds of effects. Even a master blacksmith like Elder Chen can’t create them, they are simply relics left behind by cultivators beyond the 3rd Layer of Qi Gathering Realm. The sect master and elders bring them from outside when they go on expeditions. Sometimes, disciples would also bring some back for sect points that they could use to exchange for medicinal herbs that will help with their cultivation but most of them keep it for themselves because spiritual treasures are rare.”
Gu Xuan couldn’t help but nod to himself, ‘Looks like it’s good that I didn’t agree with Elder Chen to be his disciple, he’s indeed not at that level yet. 20 years for reaching the level of a master blacksmith? A cultivator craftsman who’s not even able to create a basic spiritual treasure? Simply not worth it.’
After the introduction, Guo Meifeng stopped in front of the three-story pavilion and said, “In any case, we’ve arrived. The elder-in-charge is the 2nd Elder, Liao Weimin. Don’t be disrespectful. I’ll be going back to the reception now since disciples are not allowed inside unless they’re exchanging for something. You can roam around the Central District on your own after you’ve gotten your chosen treasures.”
“Thank you for showing me around, Senior Sister.” Gu Xuan cupped his fist and thanked.
“No problem, just come to me if you have any questions.” Guo Meifeng waved her hand with a smile on her face as she walked away.
Gu Xuan didn’t pay her further attention and walked in the direction of the Treasure Pavilion.
