The void (log 113.2)

Right now, I am making my way towards the void. I will be honest, I don't know why I am rushing now. It is not like I am really needed there.

If anything, the only thing that it does is put me more at risk of being found by either the navoks or the rebels. There is also a pretty decent chance that I might stumble in the middle of a fight. The void is not going to be an easy enemy at all, even for the sentinels.

The sentinels are certainly not going to appreciate me popping up in the middle of a fight if that is the case. I still find myself rushing towards the void's location. I don't know the exact reason that I am doing this. Staying back and holding my present position is also a pretty good option.

I guess that I want to see the man who is the cause of all of my headaches. I have been curious about the void ever since I started fighting the bloodfire gang. I would already have been at the man's location if it were not for the fact that the layout of this place is so confusing.

Well, I guess that I should not complain about this much. It is the reason that we have not been disturbed till now. After all, looking for four people in this place is naturally not going to be very easy. Especially when you have to deal with a legion of enemies.

This confusing layout is naturally very helpful to the Navoks. They must know this place like the back of their hands. It might take them some but they will find us if they put their minds to it. After all, this is literally their home base.

The only reason that they are not chasing after us is that they have more pressing targets. The moment that the navoks get rid of the rebels, they will be coming down on us hard. We need to be out of this place before that happens.

That is one of the reasons that I took the risk of fighting the snake on my own. Fighting the snake as a group would have wasted time. Time that we certainly don't have. We simply do not know how long we have before the Navoks will start coming after us. All we know is that we do not have long.

Well, let's hope that John and his group managed to take care of the void. They are very powerful, but you must never underestimate a vampire. You never know what trick they have up their sleeves.

If the void managed to get rid of them somehow, then I will be walking to my death. Even then, I would say staying put is equally deadly. After all, if I were to stay in one place, who knows who would find me. At least this way, I will keep moving.

I certainly don't want to be meeting anybody in my path, though. After all, I am facing the full brunt of the snake's final strike. That is the problem with fighting poison mages. Even winning against them doesn't come without its costs. (This is another reason that I made the troop leave before me.)

Well, I guess that I am in a better situation than the last time. This time the poison didn't take my consciousness, at least. (I came very close to losing it, if I am honest.) I did lose my sight again, though. Even now, my vision is blurred at its edge.

Thankfully, I will need to rely on my mana sense to tell if anybody is hiding in a room. Otherwise, running about like this is the best way for me to stumble into an ambush.

Well, I have to be thankful that I managed to behead the damn creature. I am certainly not in a state to fight off the snake if he did survive. The creature would have managed to get rid of me in a few strikes in my present state.

Well, I don't need to worry about that anymore. The first thing I did was to confirm that the vampire was dead. The corpse was completely devoid of any blood mana when I left it. Even if the vampire has somehow maintained its possession, it will not be able to move without blood mana.

Now, the only threats to me are the Navoks. Well, none of them are likely to going to stumble on me without me knowing at least. Even with my damaged vision, I can at least be sure that I won't be killed. Anyways, every few minutes my vision is improving. It will be back to normal soon enough.

My combat strength is a different thing, though. Right now, I am spending all of my blood mana on fighting the poison in my body.

Without the blood mana to support me, I would have been forced into meditation to take care of the poison. That is naturally a massive risk in enemy territory. Well, the blood mana means that I can push all this to later.

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

Even now, I can feel the poison in my body wrecking my body. Anyway, this all means that my fighting ability has been compromised quite a bit. I can still use my vital mana somewhat, but I can't use my blood mana. (Or any of the enhancements related to it.)

I can still fight, but I won't be as strong as I usually tend to be. As if all of this wasn't enough of a problem, there is also the issue that I can't locate where the void is right now.

I mean, I can sense the direction in which the man is. I know that he is supposed to be somewhere to the east. The only issue is that I don't understand how exactly I am supposed to go east in this damn place.

Even in the room that I am standing in, there are doors to the north and to the west. I don't know which door is likely to get me to the void.

I have been roaming like this for a while now. I just can't seem to figure out how to travel in this place. The tunnel layout of this place is about as confusing as it can get.

Thankfully, I can at least tell that I am getting closer to the enemy. The mana that I am feeling is getting stronger. Still, it doesn't mean that I am getting any closer to the man.

I guess that I should continue this record when I finally find the damn place.

  (After about ten minutes)

I have finally found the void. The room that he is in is actually pretty similar to the room that we found the snake in. It is also some kind of a warehouse. The place is empty, though.

Right now, there are four people in this place. Three of them are very familiar to me. Lauren is there in the center of the room, collapsed in a heap.

The lady has a massive gash on her stomach made by a massive claw. Her leg is also bent to a weird angle. Looks like the void was not an easy enemy in any way. She rarely gets so injured. All in all, she is not in a pretty situation. (I have seen her in worse states, so I am not too worried.)

Emilia is the least harmed of this bunch. Maybe that is why she has taken over the duty of being a lookout. She has noticed me, by the way, if her look of irritation is anything to go by. Knowing her, she is most likely thinking why I have wasted so much time getting here.

The most interesting of the bunch is John. The man is not exactly injured, but he has spent a significant chunk of his mana. He is almost running on empty right now. Still, his sword is steady as he holds it over the neck of the fourth person in this place.

This person must be void, I think. (though I can't believe it.) He doesn't look like a vampire from any angle. He is a short, stubby man who reminds me of a dwarf. No dwarf would be so dirty, though.

The man looks like he has not washed up in the last few centuries. Even as I look beyond his shape, I can see that he was a formidable force. The best proof of this is the room I am standing in. The entire room is wrecked, with massive pits in the ground. (It looks like somebody has been excavating the room. That is how much damage has happened here.)

The most telling sign is his blood mana, though. Even as I sense his mana, I can tell that this person is somebody high up in the court. The man doesn't have a lot of blood mana, but what he has feels very potent. I can't really describe this in words, but his blood mana feels superior.

Then there is the ginger way in which John is holding his blade over the man's neck. The man looks ready to draw it at the slightest hint of movement.

Right now, John and the vampire seem to be talking to each other. I can't make out their words, though, as they are on the other side of the room.

"....... If you think your silence will be enough to make me speak, you underestimate me, human." The void growls at John even as I approach. "You will learn nothing from me."

John doesn't say anything to this as he looks at me. The man looks irritated as he sees me.

"Why did you take so long, Antonio. You know that we don't have all the time in the world." John says to me, staring at me.

"Well, why exactly were you waiting for me." I reply, a bit annoyed. I know that I planned to fight the snake. Still, the man should know that it was not going to be an easy fight for me. "The vampire seems to be under your control. I don't think that you would waste your time like this. Gut him already."

"Who do you think that you are trying to fool here, you mutt?" The vampire sneers as it looks at me. "I know that all of this is bluster."

"We assumed that you would need to feed on the vampire's mana to recover yourself." The man replies. "Turns out that we were correct, weren't we. Can you even see your present state?"

"You do realise that my sword can feed on anyone's vital mana." I reply. "I don't just feed on vampires."

"Well, who exactly can you feed to your sword right now?" The man replies. "The n

Navoks must be on the verge of regrouping. Attacking them would attract their complete ire on top of us. The rebels are naturally not an option. Where would you even find them now? There is no way that any of us will volunteer for this. That leaves you with one option."

I don't reply for a bit to this, as the void suddenly pipes up again.

"You mutt, who exactly do you hope to fool here. Tell your man to unhand me, and I just might share the location of the necromancers' base."

As he does so, I can feel a wave of irritation spread through me for no reason. I plunge my sword right into the vampire's heart as I reply.

"You do realise that your life was hanging by a thread here, right." I speak, as the blood mana flows into me.

I can feel my body get invigorated as the blood mana fights the poison in my body. It looks like I will be recovering from the poison. It doesn't take long for the man to breathe his last as he looks at me with a look of shock and confusion. The man was absolutely confident that we won't be doing anything to him.
