Book One Synopsis

Dark Lord Morthisal Ebonwrath, Master of the Abyss, Ruler of the Dread Legions, Netherlord, and Lich King, Necromancer Supreme, also known as Soulrender, or The Architect of Oblivion, who ruled over his kingdom with an iron fist, finds himself transported into the body of Vince Logan after a desperate ritual goes wrong. Instead of escaping his besieged throne room in Mythralon, Morthisal awakens in a modern-day Seattle hospital, confused and powerless.

As Morthisal struggles to understand this strange new world, he encounters various individuals who help him navigate his unfamiliar surroundings. Travious, a nurse who becomes reluctantly entangled in Morthisal's schemes, provides guidance on modern customs and technology. Jackson Creed, a bodyguard hired for protection, offers security services when needed. Penny Thompson, a self-proclaimed mystic who is later revealed to be Thalindra Sanguinara, Morthisal's former Vice-Regent from Mythralon, adds another layer of complexity to his situation.

At Corsair Financial Group, where Vince Logan works, Morthisal meets his manager, Jack Sweet, and co-workers Ronny and Willow, who are temps hired to replace some of the laid-off workers thanks to 'corporate restructuring'. He quickly learns to manipulate them using the remnants of his magical abilities, which he can temporarily recharge through electrical outlets. His powers come with limitations and often comical side effects in this world.

Morthisal's life takes an unexpected turn when he accidentally lands a role in a low-budget fantasy film called "Dark Realms: The Rise of Malakar," directed by Marty Klein. His authentic portrayal of the dark lord character, drawing from his actual experiences, impresses the crew and eventually attracts significant attention.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Meanwhile, Morthisal becomes entangled with Yvette Sterling, the wealthy CEO involved in a merger with Corsair Financial. Their relationship grows from professional to personal, complicated by corporate politics and Yvette's concerns about public perception. When a photo of them together threatens Yvette's position, Morthisal organizes a "war council" with his allies to expose the conspiracy.

The scheme involves confronting the board members, Thomas Wright, Regina Caldwell, and Jeffrey Paulson, revealing their various misdeeds. With help from Jack Sweet, who admits to doctoring the photo under Jeffrey's orders, and Willow, who confirms she was the one in the original photo with Vince, Morthisal successfully clears Yvette's name while resigning from Corsair.

As Morthisal's acting career takes off with the viral success of the "Dark Realms" trailer, he plans to move to Hollywood with Yvette's support. However, their relationship faces a critical test when a stranger recognizes Morthisal and accuses him of past atrocities, forcing Morthisal to use his supernatural abilities in front of Yvette. Shocked by his actions, Yvette distances herself from Morthisal.

As one chapter of Morthisal's life closes with his departure from Corsair Financial, new opportunities and challenges await him in Hollywood. One major problem remains. How can he explain his true nature now that his powers are partially exposed to Yvette?
