Inside info for all you drama hounds out there. Bellinda and Abigail are retiring this September, which means Motostoke and Stow-in-Side need new gym leaders.
Current front-runners for Motostoke are Pecal, Bellinda's head gym trainer, and Flamme, a well-known circuit runner and fire fanatic. However, my sources tell me that the Galar league is looking for an injection of foreign blood to really shake things up, and will be tapping a Hoenn trainer named Kabu to take the position. I'll leave the sleuthing on this Kabu's qualifications to the fine people of this thread.
Not much info on Stow-in-Side. Anyone who was paying attention would have noticed that Abigail was showing pretty prominently by the end of last year's circuit, so no surprise that she's decided to retire. Wouldn't be shocked if she's already given birth, not that any public information has been released. The Saitos have always been pretty private. No rumblings yet about her replacement, other than an off-hand comment from Opal a few weeks ago, about looking to 'spook' things up a bit this season.

No way, Bellinda is still going strong! Don't believe this idiot

They've posted reliable leaks before. They called it the season Bartholomew retired, and they got Melony's appointment right too.

I still can't believe Melony is a gym leader when she has a kid she's supposed to be taking care of. Abigail has the right idea, taking responsibility, unlike Melony. That frigid witch's poor kid is gonna grow up all kinds of messed up, mark my words!

Taking the leaker at face-value, here's what I've been able to scrape up about Kabu in the last 10 minutes:
He's a trainer from Hoenn, specifically a town called Lavaridge that's, get this, built on the base of a volcano. Supposedly, ol' Mt Chimney is dormant, but it also spews ash and soot kilometers away from the caldera, so who the hell knows?
He trained under the current Lavaridge Gym Leader, an accredited fire master named Moore. This Moore dude is a pretty big deal, war vet, former Elite Four member, and like I mentioned above, an actual damned master, so Kabu's got a pretty decent pedigree.
Results-wise, he's finished the Hoenn League six times, and placed well in the Ever Grande Conference four of those six finishes. He has two top-sixteens, a quarter finals finish, and last year he got knocked out in the finals, so results-wise, he's pretty set as well.
He's not a master by any means, but definitely seems like a gym-leader quality trainer to me.

Why? It's not like the father isn't still in the picture. Sexism is a bad look.
Also, her son is a few years old at least, not a baby like Abigail's kid. He'll be fine.

I bet you got spanked by ice-mommy last circuit and are just whining about it, loser.

If this Kabu guy is such a good trainer, why the hell is Hoenn letting him go? Seems sorta shady to me.

I did some more digging, and it looks like Moore refused his bid to become the Lavaridge Gym Leader a couple of times. People think the old man is saving the seat for his granddaughter.

For the third time in as many years, a Pokémon has spontaneously dynamaxed in the wild area. Unlike the previous two incidents, there were no casualties, and rangers were able to contain the Pokémon before it could cause too much damage to the ecosystem.
How long will we watch without doing anything as these dangerous Pokémon terrorize Motostoke and Hammerlocke?

Heroes, another one of these threads. Mods, can't we shut these down? Aren't they basically reposts at this point?

Don't bother, someone on the mod team has a hard on for op, and they're technically not breaking any rules, so they get away with this shit.

Ah, but that's the thing. They're not technically calling for any specific action, just trying to motivate people into doing something nonspecific.
Look, I think it's stupid too, but I gave up on this battle a couple of weeks ago.

Guys, op is a self-righteous asshole, anyone who trawls their posts can see that, but don't they sort of have a point? Three people died a few years ago when that Linoone Gigantimaxed. It literally tore them apart. And last year, they had to dig Steel Peony out of whatever hole he's hiding in to deal with that Tyranitar, since that fossil Mustard was off doing who knows what. Won't something terrible happen soon?

You just know those idiots in the league are going to use this as an excuse to raise the starting age on the circuit again. It's already up to fourteen for heroes' sake. At this rate, I'm never going to get to challenge the league!
#1Trainer#1
4/23/46
Yeah, it's so damn stupid. It's not like you even need to spend much time on the wild area to do the circuit. Or you can just taxi above it. Raising the starting age makes no sense.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.

Is there any news about what caused the Pokémon to Gigantimax? And about what Pokémon it was?

This shit happened like an hour ago. It hasn't even made it onto the news yet, so we're not really getting any details. Hold on a little bit, I bet MCM will have a report out before too long.

And remember, your Clobbopus will be curious and exploratory. It's best to encourage this behavior, even if it can be a bit of a pain. He'll try to get into everything, but a curious Clobbopus is a happy Clobbopus. As long as you've properly Clobbo-proofed your house, let him do his thing. Exercising that curiosity will help broaden his development.

Thanks for the advice! I'll make sure that anything fragile is stored away somewhere he won't get interested in it. He definitely likes exploring, I just hope I can keep him out of trouble!

Hey everyone, thanks for the earlier advice. We had a bit of trouble recently. and could use some more help. Blobbo tore one of his arms off last week while rooting around under the fridge. I freaked a bit and ran him to the center, but Nurse Joy told me that it was normal, and that it'd grow back in a few days. It's been almost six now though, and I don't see any signs of a new one growing in. Is something wrong with Blobbo? I don't want to take him to the nurse again so soon and look stupid, but I'm really worried about him. Please give me some advice!

First of all, your Clobbopus is fine. It can take up to two weeks for their limbs to grow back, especially if your Pokémon is young, or if they’re not getting the right diet. I'd look into what you're feeding him, and maybe try to get some more iron into his diet if you can afford it.
Secondly, don't let embarrassment or anxiety stop you from properly taking care of your Pokémon. It ended up being fine in this case, but if something's really wrong with them, you'll regret not acting sooner for the rest of your life.

Fierce, you're coming on a bit harsh.
Still they are right, fundamentally. It can be hard to fight through that sort of social pressure, but your Pokémon is relying on you to take care of them, so you should be ready to go to the lengths necessary to make sure they're happy and healthy.

Hi everyone, I'm a trainer from outside of Galar who started taking care of a Falinks a few months ago. We've been eking by with advice from a Galarian Nurse Joy and our own experiences, but I'm worried that I might be making some mistakes in my care for them. A friend helped me connect to the Macro Net so I could try to find some resources, and you all seem super helpful, so I thought I'd ask here for some advice.

Hi, I understand that you have a Falinks and are outside of Galar? Are you willing to send me a quick picture with them and a copy of today's newspaper from wherever you are?
Sorry for the suspicion, but you never know who's who on the net.

Cute picture. Sorry it took me a bit to reply. Had to look up a bit about where you are. I hadn't ever heard of Ferrum before.
First of all, my qualifications. I'm the gym leader of the Stow-on-Side gym, and I've been training fighting types for over ten years. I have a Falinks on my personal team, and trained a half-dozen of them over the years for different badge-level challenges. I'm also a master of Galar Karate, and I trained under Dojo Master Mustard for a few years.
Hope that reassures you that I know what I'm talking about. What kind of questions did you have about caring for your partners?
ForeignFalinksTrainer
4/22/46
So many. I hope you don't mind.
First is their diet. I'm currently feeding them a Fighting-type kibble mix with sliced berries added in, usually Cheri but with the occasional Tamato. To that, I add 2g of Iron daily, and a gram of Carbos every other day. We also will feed them from the table occasionally, maybe twice a week, and never a lot. They're four years old, the brass weighs 9.7 Kilos, and the troops weigh between 8 and 8.4 kilos. The brass is fifty-three cm tall, from foot to horn, and the troops are forty-five.
Secondly is our exercise routine. Currently, we're running about eight hours of training a day, give or take. Rest days on Sunday. Four of that is with me (a mix of move training and exercise), two of it is with the Pokémon of my colleagues (they're rangers, and they train extremely capable battlers), and the last two hours are general exercise (usually unsupervised).
Does that sound like a good mix in your experience?
Thirdly, I'm trying to foster more independence in the individual members of my Falinks. Like I wrote earlier, I got some basic training advice from a Galarian relative (a Nurse Joy), and what she sent said that it's possible to get the troops to act without relying on the brass to relay my commands, but progress has been sort of hit or miss.
Finally, do I need to know or worry about anything with raising them in a foreign environment? Will there be any problems since we're not in Galar? I've been learning recently about how important ecology is to a Pokémon's development, and it makes me worry that there might be something native to your region that they might find missing here.

Sorry, I had to put my daughter to bed. I need to rest soon as well, so this will be my last message tonight.
First question: What you're feeding them should work, but you probably want to up their intake a bit. They're getting a lot of exercise, (which is a good thing), but most Falinks aren't going to be that active, and won't need as much food as yours probably do. They won't tell you when they're hungry either, so even if they're a little underfed, it can be hard to tell. Try offering a bit more kibble each day this week until you're at about 1.5 times what you're currently giving them. If they eat that easily every day, just go ahead and double all of their portions from what you're doing now. Feeding them from the table is fine nutrition-wise, but might be bad for discipline. Up to you if the morale gain is worth it.
Also, add some Zinc and Nickel to the vitamins you're giving them. Nickel is pretty rare, most Pokémon don't need it outside of some specific steel types, but it can be a good reinforcement for your Falinks' shell. Get it if you can.
Second question: I'd recommend trying to get some battle training in their routine. From what I saw about your region, that could be a bit tough, but try anyway. Training with your colleagues Pokémon will be useful, but it won't give your Falinks the experience and confidence that actual battles with Pokémon at their level will. Maybe try going to the port, if you have one in Techne. Sailors are always looking to battle and train their Pokémon. That probably goes double for a region like yours where they'll have a harder time finding normal battles among the locals.
Third question: It is possible to get the troops to act independently, but it's very hard. It usually involves years of work, and mitosis makes it extremely difficult to maintain over a long-term. My best advice is to come up with some pre-set commands that have different members of the formation doing different moves in different positions. My favorite is Proprep, where three of the troops use Protect and the other three use No Retreat, then they swap. This allows the whole formation to power up safely.
For your final question, I can't think of anything specific to Galar that they should be missing. Still, watch their health, and get plenty of readings done at the Pokémon center. They should be able to reach out to Galar and access care records that can give you a better idea of their general status compared to their peers.
ForeignFalinksTrainer
4/22/46
It helps a lot! Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.
I do have one more point after reading your response. What do you mean by Mitosis?
PersonalPunches
4/23/46
Mitosis is how Falinks reproduce. They don't generate eggs like most Pokémon, instead they clone themselves. More specifically, when one of the troops grows into a brass, they'll recruit two of the remaining four troops, and break off from the original Falinks. Then, both sets of three will clone themselves, creating three new troops for each formation, giving you two sets of six full Falinks. You'll need to split them up, once you have two Pokémon. They'll never get along again, and can actually be dangerous to one another if they're forced into close proximity. Best to find a new home for them, since it probably wouldn't be safe for you to release them into the wild.
ForeignFalinksTrainer
4/23/46
Golems, when does that happen? Do I need to worry about it? How much warning do I have? Can I stop it from happening?
PersonalPunches
4/23/46
There's no need to panic. You'll know when it's starting to happen. Firstly, one of your troops will begin showing brass-like features. There'll be some friction between them and the actual brass, and the troops will start to take sides. It's hard to miss.
As for stopping it, there's no need to. The cloned troops will be just as strong as the originals. They'll all work well together again, instead of butting heads, so oftentimes, you're better off after mitosis occurs.
ForeignFalinksTrainer
4/23/46
I'm not worried about how strong my Falinks are, I don't want to lose any of my troops. I love them all. I can't imagine having to split them up and send half of them away. Please, there's got to be a way to keep them together. Will it help if I don't let them get any stronger? Does an everstone make a difference?
ForeignFalinksTrainer
4/23/46
Hello. Are you there?
PersonalPunches
4/24/46
Sorry. I had to think about my response.
It is possible. You need to get the new brass to acknowledge the old's supremacy, and re-establish the hierarchy. No two Falinks will take the same method/solution, though. It'll be different for every formation and every troop, every time. You'll have to work it out between the seven of you, or let them split, if you're unable.
I will admit, it's a scary time, but people have done it. There's no guide to this, but if you trust your Falinks, and they trust you, it can be done.
I'm sorry that I can't give you more than that.
If you ever need advice on anything else, feel free to send me a message. I'll attach our dojo's phone number below as well. I don't check these forums all that often now that I don't have gym trainers to remind me, so that's a more reliable way to reach me in a pinch. Please don't abuse the privilege I'm providing.
