Chapter 20 - The Dead Realm (3)

  -At The Base Near Frontier-

  -Ren's POV-

I arrived at the base with about a hundred thousand of my people who came from hidden places all over the Realm. I had at least a hundred domes filled with my people all over the Realm and I happened to be at the right place when that woman came to get information about Realms. I headed straight for the only tent at the base. It was the place where the current Lords were discussing the situation. There were two guards at the entrance of the tent. They gave me a nod and let me enter it.

I entered the tent and saw the other four lords standing around a map, discussing the positioning, the possible flank routes, the defense line and the military capacity.

"We should put our men at the front and let them battle the Invaders." Said an old man, wrinkles covering his face but still having the determination in his eyes to defend this Realm even if it was declared Dead by the System. He was one of the two old lords, Oltion.

"He's right we don't have time to plan for flanking and we also don't have much manpower to support your idea Celeas." Said an old looking lady, she was the same age as Oltion and also an old lord. Her name was Lyra. She was the other old lord.

"But this might give us a chance to take them by surprise." Said Celeas, a rather hotheaded young man and also the youngest lord between us five lords.

"Enough of this, let's go with Oltion's plan, he's been a leader for far longer than you Celeas." Said a middle aged woman. Her name was Aithra.

"Look I know you may think this is a stupid idea but Celeas's plan might work and could also make the enemy spread out and look for their backs, while we take them from the front." I said and joined their discussion of whether to do a frontal attack or to flank the enemy and make them look out for their back.

"Ren, I know you want to help but the current situation can't handle the flank option. Our numbers aren't enough for that." Said Aithra and it was true that we had already lost more than a few millions during the first attack.

"You mean a few hundred thousand strong people out of the five million we have are not enough to flank the enemy?" I said. There might be some hope in flanking them and trying to encircle them.

"That is not what I mean, we don't know the exact number of the enemies, so we can't just plan to aim for their flank." Said Aithra, her words reasonable but still, we had to take our chances or we might die even before our plans could work. I was not that foolish to blindly rush in, but desperate situations call for desperate measures.

"We have already lost more than a few million people last time Ren, I don't want to lose more of our people so just listen to Oltion." Said Lyra.

"Just stop all of you ! We don't know the exact number of the enemy and we can't risk flanking them, so just go with my plan and probe the enemy to find out their exact number and then we can discuss whether to flank them or not." Said Oltion having had enough of this nonsense discussion.

Having decided or more like ordered by Oltion to follow his plan. All of us went out to tell our people about the decision. Lyra took the lead and laid out the plan to our people and the assigned leader for every team was also informed in brief. These team leaders then went off, to inform the plan to their respective teams. Taking almost an hour to brief the five million people present at the frontier.

  -An Hour Later-

We had two million people ready at the frontier with three million people at the base ready to reinforce the frontier if needed. Our first objective was to probe the enemy for more information and then to plan accordingly. The enemy had not made a move yet, they were probably trying to gauge our numbers or making their own plans.

I looked at the sword flying in the sky, it was massive, at least three kilometres long and it was flying horizontally in the sky. It was a marvel that I had never seen in my entire life. Although the first flying sword that came here was smaller than this and also had less weapons on it.

Just as I was about to move and go back to the tent, I saw some movement on the sword and stopped. There were small flying swords coming out of the three kilometer long sword, looking the same as the last time they invaded and they numbered at least a few hundred thousand.

When they first invaded, the number of flying swords was only a few hundred, having at least 1000 people per ship but, the moment I saw those hundreds of thousands of flying machines. I lost all hope for our Realm. A massacre was about to happen, me and everyone in this Dead Realm were the ones who would be getting slaughtered.

  -Liz's POV-

Reinard and I looked as the battleship deployed five hundred thousand aircraft. Each of them had a thousand people. Meaning almost half of the people on the battleship were deployed and the battle or more like a massacre was about to begin.

"You think they can survive that much manpower and such high-technology?" Reinard asked me while still hugging me, from behind and observing the situation at the base and the frontier.

"I don't know. We'll have to wait and see, they do have those barriers around the frontier but who knows if those barriers can even handle that amount of firepower. Five hundred million people against five million, the odds are really low, like not even one percent. They’re just waiting to be slaughtered." I said, still looking as the first aircraft arrived at the frontier and a thousand people came out of it. All of these people were wearing high tech gear, from head to toe covered in materials unknown to me, carrying guns in their hands. Looking through their gears and all, I saw that all of them were humans. 'Humans have always been fighting with each other for some reason or the other and this is not new at all.'

The Invaders assembled themselves in triangular formation and started raining hell on the dome of the barrier surrounding the natives of this Dead Realm.

Beams were fired from the Invader’s guns, containing all sorts of magic spells. I used a teleportation spell and made one of them appear inside my barrier. The person got caught off-guard and looked around until he spotted me and Reinard and fired a beam at us. Reinard being a protective Hubby, stood in front of me and took a hit from the beam. Although it was dangerous and we didn’t know the power of the weapon, Reinard still risked himself. The beam was made of photons and didn't even leave so much as a scratch on Reinard. I made a mana blade and slashed the man down, his armor and body was cut in half seamlessly, like a hot knife going through butter. We did a few more tests and the result was the same. All Invaders had the same armor and weapons, some carrying guns, swords, axes, daggers and so on. We looked at the people of this Dead Realm and the Invaders engaged in a brutal battle having breached the dome while we tested the Invaders ourselves. Each minute, tens of people were dying on both sides.

"Seems like they are not a threat to us. Should we implement the plan?" Reinard said.

"Right, their guns and armor are not a problem for you but what about the battleship?" I said in an uncertain tone.

"Yeah, the battleship might become a problem but we have that spell right, so why are you unsure about this?" Reinard said while hugging me and caressing my face.

"Hmm. Although we have that spell and also know how strong the enemy is, it’s just that we don’t know if they have some kind of trump card. We'll use that spell if things go south. Let's go and help them" I said, it was easy to help the people of the Dead Realms. All I had to do was cast one spell and it would be over but, I was cautious of the enemy's trump card.

"As you wish my Queen." Reinard said while dramatically bowing his head to me.

  -Ren's POV-

"The situation is worse than before. There are hundreds of thousands of those flying machines and each has at least a thousand people on it." Aithra said.

"It's a lost cause to fight when we are this outnumbered. We should just leave through paths connecting to other Worlds." Said Celeas.

"This is our home and I won't leave until I make them pay for what they did to us!!!" Oltion said while slamming his hands on the table. He was a stubborn old man, having lived more than us and his emotions has been attached to this Realm longer than us.

"How's our side holding?" Lyra asked.

"We are barely holding on, in just a few hours all of our people will be dead including us." I replied while looking at the report handed to me by the scouts.

"We can help you." I heard a voice from the entrance of the tent. It was the same woman from before, accompanied by a handsome man. If things were not how they were right now, I might want to pursue that man but alas I can't. There was an ongoing war and I couldn’t harbor such thoughts.

"Who the fuck are you people?" Celeas asked while taking out his sword and pointing it at them. The others also went into defensive mode and took out their weapons.

"Relax, she's not the enemy. I spoke with her a few hours before this shit show started." I tried to placate the situation.

"How are you so sure that they are not the enemy? They might have disguised themselves to come and take information from you and relay it back to that flying sword." Oltion said, seething in rage.

"I know, just trust me on this. We don't have much time anyways." I don't know why I said these words but something inside me was telling me that they were the last hope for the people of this Dead Realm and I had to take this last chance given to us.

"Fine, how are you going to help us?" Aithra asked them while looking at the others as they nodded to her. We didn't have much time anyways. So getting help might solve this war. All of us were cautious against these two even if they wanted to help us. The lords had their doubts against them, but in the current situation any help was better than no help at all.

"We'll kill the enemy for you on one condition." Said the man.

  "What condition?" Lyra asked.

"All of you will have to follow us back to my world and become my personal army." Lizandra said curtly.

"The fuck do you mean we'll have to be your personal army? We ain't mercenaries and how are you even gonna defeat all those Invaders?" Said Celeas, his sword already emitting blade aura, ready to engage in a fight, if necessary.

"It's either accept this or die. The choice is yours." Said the man beside Lizandra.

"Lizandra I know you wanted the information on the Dead Realms, is it because your World is going through the same situation? Is that why you want us to be your personal army?" I asked Lizandra and all I got was a nod from her. It cleared my doubts about how Lizandra knew about the Dead Realms and the Invasion.

"So you want help in return for help?" Asked Oltion and again Lizandra nodded.

"What is it then? To live or to die?" Asked the man beside her, his aura was threatening enough. But we had no choice here, no one wanted to die.

"Give us a few minutes and we'll tell." Lyra said and the five of us went to a corner of the tent to discuss.

"We don't have much time, I don't trust these two but we also don't have a choice. How about we vote for it?" Oltion said.

"Don't waste time voting, just accept their help and we'll help them in return. Didn't you hear what Ren said about that Lizandra woman asking her for information." Lyra said.

"They do look strong but I don't think the two of them would be able to face the entire army, even if they have more people, I doubt it would make any difference." Aithra said.

"Just take what they give and help them. We don't have time to discuss this, guys. Let's just go back." Celeas said having cooled down a bit.

"I am with Celeas, we should take what help they are giving and we can negotiate with them later on. We don't have much time." I said while looking at the other lords.

The five of us went back, not having much time to discuss this. The answer was to live and take their help, for now.

"Alright we agree, but we want the right to negotiate on the condition after you have helped us." Oltion said.

"Fine, you can negotiate but the condition has to be met. Don't take my words lightly, I will kill all of you, if you back out in fulfilling the condition." Lizandra said.

"Sure, you scratch our backs and we'll scratch yours." Celeas gave a rather crude reply.

"Good. Reinard, call Vorgrim, we'll have to make quick work of the Invaders." Lizandra said and I got to know the name of the man beside her, Reinard.

"So how are you gonna help us?" Lyra asked, concerned about the situation. This was the only option we had because any number of formations or defense wouldn't be able to take on the Invaders for long.

"Don't worry about that, we’ll take care of it for you. All you have to do is just sit and watch. Also make sure your people back out from the frontlines. I don't want casualties in my army." Lizandra said like we were already her army. Soon, she went out of the tent with Reinard.

"Where is all that confidence coming from?" Oltion asked but no one replied.

Filled with doubts of their own, the lords decided to leave the fate of their already Dead Realm in the hands of two unknown people. But the lords would soon realize that these two were not so simple as they looked.
