Chapter 7

"Come on, you can do it, darling; come to Mama!" E happily spoke as she kneeled some distance in front of me. She opened her arms and, with a sweet voice, beckoned me to come to her.

Some time has passed since I arrived in this world and reincarnated into this body. My new loving family was overjoyed with everything I'd done, even when I started crawling. E and Ana almost fainted from happiness, and I could feel and actually see their happiness, and in turn it actually made me feel happy as well.

But there was also another little incident when I said my first word... well, both my mother and father, including Ana, my big sister, were present at the time. When I babbled that time, they kept expecting me to say nene, mama, or papa, their words for what they wanted me to call them.

But unfortunately for them, what I said first was Ishara, which in turn made the whole pace shake. When Ishara actually climbed up to the window of my room, I was happy, and luckily there was no damage this time. She was careful; I could feel it.

"Just a little further!" Ah, I was almost there. I waddled slowly but steadily towards E, and with a little bit of effort, I made it, and in return, I was embraced in a warm hug. When I first felt the warmth of my new mother, I was confused, and it felt strange, courtesy of having memories from my past life, I guess. It was the first time I felt such warm and happy feelings towards me, unlike my st family.

My family back on Earth was also strange, but in a different way. I never felt the warmth and love from either my father or my mother. There was no physical abuse because there was actually nothing most of the time. We never even saw each other, sometimes for months... I wonder if they felt something when they heard the news of what happened.

I shook my head and let go of my useless thoughts. What's in the past should stay in the past. This is my new life, and I should embrace it and my new loving family, which has actually grown even more.

While E kept hugging me and kissing me all over my face, I gnced around my room. On the floor, on the walls, underneath the cradle, inside the cradle, on the ceiling—well, basically wherever you looked, I could spot tiny green-filled shapes.

Yes, my new friends and family were there all around me. I could not be happier, though the maids and the guards that come inside the room are always tense. I understand them; the little ones are deadly. One could easily kill you with its venom. Imagine if a swarm came at you, not to mention Ishara, who would break half the city if I was in danger. It was a miracle how she didn't do that when she first came to my aid.

Even E still had some reservations about leaving her daughter in a scorpion-infested room, but she gave up when she saw me pying and always sleeping with them. She knew they would never harm me and that they actually stood watch over me.

"Knock!" I heard a soft knock against the door of my room and instinctively turned my head towards the sound. The shape of a rge man entered my room; the shape was grey, so it must be one of the guards that accompanied my mother.

"Your Highness, your presence is requested at the training grounds. There was... an accident with the crown princess Ana," the guard spoke carefully as he reyed his message. Has something happened to Ana?

"What happened to her? Is she alright?" E's voice sounded worried and stern, but I could feel how worried she was from the tighter hug she gave me. She loved both of us equally; it was only that I needed some special care, not being able to see and all.

"The princess is unharmed, but... Lord Trenador's son has been rushed to the temple for a broken arm and a few ribs," the guard slowly expined what happened. I was relieved to hear nothing happened to Ana, but it was hard to imagine that my ever-so-gentle sister could actually be capable of breaking that boy's arms and ribs.

"Sigh," E sighed as she stood up, still holding me in her arms.

"How about it, Verine? Would you like to go and scold your big sister with Mama?" Even if I couldn't see it, I could imagine E's cold smile as she spoke. Ana, my big sister, I pray for you.

  .....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

We walked slowly towards the supposed training grounds. And I looked around me while walking. I wasn't completely blind because I could see mana, and mana was in everything, including stones. I could make out the general shape of things like pilrs and doors, as well as people like the maids and guards we passed, but that was about it; I couldn't see the eyes or mouth, but I knew where a person's head was.

"ANYONE ELSE WANT TO REPEAT WHAT THAT INSULENT BRAT SAID, HUH!?" As we walked towards the training grounds, I could hear shouting. Specifically, I could hear Ana shouting at the top of her lungs. What made her so upset, I wonder?

As we drew closer, I could see Ana, who was actually being held by her arms by two big silhouettes, which I presumed were the knight instructors.

"Your Highness, please calm yourself!" One of them shouted loudly at Ana, who, like a raging bull, actually managed to throw one of them on the ground, which made the other instructor hold her even tighter now.

"LET ME GO. THOSE BASTARDS DARE, I WILL RIP OUT THEIR TO...!?" Before she could finish her curse, E stepped into the training grounds, naturally holding me in her arms.

"ALANA, is this how a knight of Okbar behaves?" E's voice was colder than usual when she scolded her before; she was truly pissed this time. I still wonder what made Alna go berserk like this.

"WE GREET HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN AND SECOND PRINCESS!" Both the instructors who let Ana go and the rest of the trainee knights bowed deeply towards us. That's E; she truly was a great queen.

"Mo....mother...Verine!?" Ana was more stunned when she saw me than when she was talked to so coldly... Well, this was my first time out of my room, so I guess it did make sense that she was surprised to see me here, or maybe she was surprised that I saw her or, in her eyes, heard her dispy just a moment ago.

"Come here," E, still in her pissed mode, spoke to Ana, who hurriedly followed E outside the training grounds.

"Expin yourself, Ana." E sat down on a nearby bench and cradled me as she looked at Ana, who just stood silently in front of us.

  "Ana," E called her again.

"I...Mother...they insulted Verine... Geliv Trenador, he was the ringleader who insulted Verine, saying that she was a disgrace to the royal family and a shame to the kingdom just because she can't see. How was I supposed to pretend I didn't hear that? Not only did they insult the royal family, but, most importantly, they insulted Verine. I could not stand for that, and I never will. "Huff," "Huff"."

Wow, she managed to say all of that in one breath and while she almost started crying.

I see now she has done that because of me, because they insulted me. I know I should be sad about the insults, but they didn't bother me at all; in fact, I was happy because Ana stood up to defend me.

"Al..." Before E could speak to her, I extended my hands and spoke in my baby nguage, the best I could do.

"Nene...no cry." So embarrassing. When will I be able to speak like an adult?

"..........." Why was everyone so quiet, even E... she even trembled a little.

"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Wow, Ana rushed at me and snatched me from E's arms and started hugging me tightly.

"Sigh," E sighed as she watched us and crossed her arms, but I could feel and see the happy mana around her; she was also happy seeing us like this.

"Ana, I understand why you did it, but you need to be careful. The Trenador family is one of the noble faction's supporters; they will most likely jump at this opportunity and sink their teeth, but this time it can be masked as a children's sparring gone wrong," E said as she tapped her finger on the wood.

"I... know I messed up, Mother, but I'll be more careful next time." Next time? Will she do it again?

"That's my daughter; anyone who harms my children will eventually meet a fitting end, hehe." Now I understand why Ana had such a temper; it was all from E.

"That's right, Mother, we will protect Verine!" Ana excimed cheerfully.

"Oh, right I almost forgot about your punishment. You started cursing in front of Verine, didn't you? What if she learned all the bad words and started using them herself?" That's right, but it wasn't that much of a curse, was it, and E seems to be more pissed off about that?

"Mo....Mother, I didn't see you!?" E stood up slowly from the bench and walked towards us.

Stay strong, big sister; you will need it. I gave a silent prayer to Ana, who was facing the end-game boss right now.
