Ji Yuxi opened his eyes.
The first thing he felt? Extreme hunger. The second thing? A heavy pressure on his stomach.
His mind was still groggy as he looked up, and then—BAM! Last night's memories smmed into him like a speeding spaceship.
“Oh… oh no.”
He was not pure anymore.
He let out a long sigh that sounded more like an old man contempting life. Last night, in his starved and weak state, he had stumbled into the forest looking for food—innocent, vulnerable, a mere child of fate (or so he told himself). But then, out of nowhere, a wild beast—no, a man—pounced on him and started talking about bedroom matters.
One thing led to another, and before he knew it, he had been pyed like a ragdoll.
“Damn it,” he muttered, attempting to push the man’s arm off his body. The stranger was still fast asleep, looking all smug and well-fed, while Ji Yuxi felt like he had been run over by a spaceship.
His waist… hurt.
After some intense struggling that involved more elbowing than was probably necessary, he finally wriggled out from under the sleeping beast. Without wasting a second, he grabbed his clothes, threw a punch at the man’s unsuspecting face, and ran out of the room like a chicken escaping a sughterhouse.
With his dignity barely intact, he found himself sitting in the street, looking like a proper beggar.
As he sat on the dirty sidewalk, his stomach growling like a feral beast, he finally had time to process his new reality.
Yes. He had awakened in this body yesterday. The original owner? Dead. The new resident? Ji Yuxi, hacker, scientist, legendary game developer, and now… an interstelr beggar with a ruined reputation.
And oh, what a tragic little life the previous owner had.
This was the year 3009, an era where Earth’s old traditions had vanished, repced by a cold, interstelr society filled with new enemies, new politics, and new… weird supernatural mental powers.
People were divided into three groups:
Espers – The aggressive, battle-loving powerhouses with mental spirits in the form of beasts like lions, dragons, or—horrifyingly—snakes.Guides – The sweet, healing ones with soft, cute mental spirits like rabbits, kittens, or that one friend who always carries snacks.Betas – The unfortunate middle ground. Some had mental powers, some didn’t. Most just existed like NPCs in an open-world game. The original owner of this body? Oh, he was worse than a Beta. He had been born with zero mental power. Nothing. Zilch. Nada. And in a world where power was everything, that made him as useful as a broken spaceship.
But, hey, at least he was born into a rich and powerful family, right? The Mo Family!
Too bad that didn’t st.
Because plot twist! One day, a random kid showed up at the Mo Mansion, ciming to be the real heir.
DNA test results? Congratutions! The original owner was an imposter!
Before he could even process what was happening, he was kicked out onto a wastend pnet like yesterday’s trash. No money. No home. Not even a farewell sandwich.
The worst part?
The previous owner had been stupidly nice about it.
“Ah, I see! It’s only fair that I leave,” he had said cheerfully, as if he were handing over a library book and not his entire life.
And so, like an absolute fool, he walked out with nothing. Not a credit to his name. Not a single grudge in his heart. He simply accepted his fate and died like a street rat before Ji Yuxi took over his body.
Ji Yuxi groaned.
“Why did I have to inherit the body of an idiot?”
His stomach rumbled violently. He had bigger problems than existential crises. Like not dying of starvation.
He scanned his surroundings. Neon billboards fshed above him, advertising everything from flying shoes to robot assistants. The street was bustling with people in futuristic outfits, completely ignoring the pathetic beggar (him).
He needed money. He needed food.
And, most importantly, he needed revenge.
No, not against that feral beast from st night (though he’d definitely punch him again if given the chance). No, he needed revenge on the Mo Family.
They had thrown him away like garbage, and Ji Yuxi was not the type to stay down.
But first…
His stomach growled again.
Food first. Revenge ter.
He stood up dramatically, dusting off his tattered clothes, and strode toward the nearest food stall with the confidence of a man who absolutely could not afford what he was about to order.
