Offer of Path for Strength
<[MAY-11]>
A cold breeze drifted through the ruined orphanage. The air was thick with the scent of blood and burnt wood. The once-lively place that had sheltered so many was now filled with silence, broken only by the quiet sobs of those who had survived.
Krishna's eyes slowly opened. A dull pain throbbed in his body, and for a moment, he struggled to remember where he was. Then, it hit him.
The demonic beasts. The battle. The blood. The power.
He sat up suddenly, his breath heavy. His fingers instinctively reached for his chest, tracing the deep scar that ran across it. The reminder of his curse.
‘Not again…’ he thought.
He had tried to bury it, to live a normal life, to forget about the monster inside him. But last night, when he had seen the nuns and children dying—his body had moved on its own.
Or rather, something inside him had awakened.
For the first time… it saved lives instead of taking them.
---
A group of orphan children sat nearby, whispering. They had watched him fight. They had seen the black aura, the three tails, the way he ripped through the beasts like a god of war "kartikeya".
"Big brother Krishna… is amazing."
"He protected us all by himself!"
"I wish I could be as strong as him!"
But not everyone saw him as a hero.
Father Abel, the priest, stood outside, watching Krishna with a complicated expression. Beside him, Alina—Cilia’s younger sister—crossed her arms, her face unreadable.
"We need to talk," she said to the priest.
They moved to a quiet corner, their voices low.
"The seal worked," Father Abel murmured.
"But for how long?" Alina asked, her tone sharp. "That thing inside him is getting stronger. What if next time, it’s not just beasts he kills?"
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Father Abel sighed. "He doesn’t even acknowledge its existence. To him, it’s a curse. That’s the only thing keeping him from fully giving in to it."
Alina's grip on her sleeves tightened. She had seen the way Krishna fought last night.
It wasn’t just skill or strength.
It was rage. A deep, uncontrollable rage.
And yet, despite everything, she couldn’t bring herself to fear him.
Because last night, he hadn’t lost control. He had saved them.
---
Krishna stood in front of the graves. Small mounds of dirt, marked by wooden crosses, stretched before him.
Some of the nuns. Some of the children. Gone.
A lump formed in his throat.
‘Again… I wasn’t strong enough.’
His nails dug into his palms. He could still hear Cilia’s voice in his head—the way she had called his name before the piranhas dragged her beneath the river.
Back then, he had no power to save her.
Now, he had power. And yet, he still failed to protect them all.
"I hate this…" he whispered. "I hate being weak."
A gentle hand touched his shoulder. He turned to see Father Abel, his expression filled with sadness and understanding.
"You did what you could, Krishna. You saved many."
Krishna shook his head. "Not enough."
Never enough.

The next day,
<[MAY-12]>
a messenger arrived* at the ruined orphanage. Dressed in silver armor, he carried an official letter with the emblem of the Holy Academy.
"You are Krishna and garry, correct?" the knight asked.
Krishna and garry slowly nodded.
"The kingdom has recognized your strengths in defending the orphanage and heeling the injureds. You are hereby invited to join the Holy Lunarcrest Academy, where you will train alongside the greatest warriors, priests, and sorcerers."
The orphan children gasped. The nuns exchanged glances. Alina stepped forward, eyes narrowing.
"Why now?" she asked coldly. "You never helped us before. But now that Krishna has shown power, and garry shown his heling ability, so, you suddenly want him?"
The knight remained composed. "The kingdom acknowledges potential. He has been given an opportunity. Whether he accepts or not is his choice."
Garry is excited by seeing this opportunity.
While Krishna looked at the letter, his mind racing.
The Holy Lunarcrest Academy…
A place where warriors and mages trained to become powerful figures in the kingdom. If he went there, he could become stronger. Strong enough to make sure something like this never happened again.
But…
His gaze drifted back to the graves. To the broken orphanage.
Did he really deserve this chance?
Did he want to follow the same path as those who had failed to protect the weak?
He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and finally spoke.
"I'll go."
Father Abel exhaled deeply, as if expecting this answer. The knight nodded in approval.
"Very well. Prepare yourself. We leave at dawn."
As the knight turned away, Krishna clenched
the letter tightly.
They had made there decision.
Now, there was no turning back.
