Chapter 67: Battle Engagement

"Reporting to Lord Jason, our troops have all arrived. Please give your next instructions," the Sanctuary messenger quickly said as he approached Jason.

Jason said: "Very good. Notify all troops to prepare for a counterattack against the rebels. Deputy Commander Blair, you will command this operation to intercept the rebels. The specific battle plan is to concentrate our main forces facing the rebel army, prevent their advance, and distribute the rest of our forces on both flanks of the rebels, then launch attacks with full force."

A burly middle-aged man standing beside Jason acknowledged the order and went to execute Jason's command. After this, the sound of artillery fire from the northwest direction of the square became louder and more intense. Black smoke continuously rose in the northwest direction, suggesting that fierce fighting was taking place in that area. Although the battle had become more intense, the sound of artillery fire did not continue to approach the direction of the central square.

"Hmm, it looks like the Sanctuary has begun to launch a counterattack against the rebels. The rebels have been stopped. They might already be in a tough battle," Rulu raised his head and looked toward the northwest direction, saying thoughtfully.

C.C. said: "So the rebels can't reach here? They can't rescue these people?"

"It shouldn't be that simple," Rulu said. "General Li doesn't seem like the type who has courage but no strategy. He shouldn't be so easily defeated by the Sanctuary. He must have another trick up his sleeve."

  "What trick?"

"We'll know soon enough. We just need to keep waiting."

Rulu and C.C. continued to wait patiently in the car when suddenly, a loud "boom" was heard. A huge explosion came from the southern direction of the square. Rulu quickly turned his head to look south and saw a red humanoid armored troop along with about twenty gray humanoid armored troops appearing from the southern direction of the square, rapidly driving toward the center of the square. Behind these twenty or so humanoid armored troops, in the distance, followed about five to six hundred ground armed unit members carrying firearms.

"So the rebels had also deployed a small squadron. It seems they plan to use this small team to complete the rescue operation. This move is indeed good," Rulu smiled as he watched the rebel forces that suddenly appeared from the southern direction.

Jason, detecting the rebels' appearance, immediately dispatched several dozen humanoid armored troops stationed in the square, along with nearly a thousand ordinary soldiers to intercept the rebel forces. The two armies made contact in the southern part of the square, followed by intense fighting.

"Wow, they're fighting, and it's so intense!" C.C. exclaimed in surprise as she watched the fierce battle between the two armies in the southern part of the square.

"This rebel force looks very strong," Rulu said as he observed the battlefield through binoculars. "The driver of that red armored troop should be Kallen. She alone can handle several of the Sanctuary's armored troops. The Sanctuary's armored troops are no match for her. If this continues, the Sanctuary side should be defeated soon."

"Really? Let me see..." C.C. snatched the binoculars from Rulu's hand to observe the battlefield. She discovered a red armored troop moving with exceptional agility, easily evading attacks from the Sanctuary's humanoid armored troops before launching counterattacks.

The red armored troop had a unique five-finger steel claw on its right forearm. Each time the red armored troop used this claw to grab onto a Sanctuary humanoid armored troop, the armor of the captured troop would immediately melt, creating a hole, and would be killed by the red armored troop in a short time.

Under the powerful offensive of the red armored troop, in less than ten minutes, the Sanctuary side had already lost more than ten humanoid armored troops, while the rebel side had only lost two or three armored troops.

"Lord Jason, the situation is not good," the Sanctuary's Chief of Staff anxiously said. "In just ten minutes, we've lost nearly one-third of our armored troops, while the enemy seems to have lost less than one-tenth. The situation is very unfavorable for us."

"I can see that," Jason said in a sinister voice as he stood on the platform, staring at the red armored troop on the battlefield. "That red armored troop is very strong. Our people are no match for it. If we continue fighting like this, we will certainly be defeated."

"Then... what should we do?" The Chief of Staff asked with a panicked expression. "Should we call for reinforcements from elsewhere? But it's too late to call for reinforcements now."

"No need. I have a solution. Tell our people to all retreat."

"Yes, Lord Jason." The Chief of Staff immediately used the communicator to order a full retreat. Upon receiving the order, the Sanctuary's armored troops and ordinary soldiers immediately retreated toward the center of the square. The rebels pursued relentlessly, launching even more fierce attacks on the Sanctuary's troops.

Suddenly, there was a "whoosh" sound of air being cut. A pink afterimage flashed through mid-air, moving at an extremely fast speed toward the red armored troop. The pink figure delivered a flying kick, heavily hitting the face of the red armored troop. The red armored troop immediately fell backward with a "thud" and crashed to the ground.

"Everyone stop, cease pursuit!" A curly-haired man in his thirties with a red ribbon tied around his head shouted into a communicator. The rebels immediately stopped their pursuit and gathered around the fallen red armored troop.

"I'm fine, don't worry," the red armored troop quickly got up from the ground. A clear, young female voice came from the armor's facial plate.

"That's right. Kallen just accidentally fell. Captain Guan, you're being too nervous," said a bald, muscular man with a scar on his face, laughing nearby.

"Exactly. These Sanctuary guys are no match for us at all. They've already started running away. We're about to defeat them!" A-Bing said in a shrill voice. The other rebels joined in, raising their weapons high and letting out excited shouts.

"Hmph, you lowly scum think you can defeat our Sanctuary? That's just wishful thinking, a daydream." A cold male voice came from above the rebel crowd.

Hearing this voice, the rebels were all startled. They looked up and saw a thin, middle-aged man in pink clothes floating in mid-air about seven or eight meters above the ground, looking down at them.
