Chapter 42: Disagreement

This morning, Nana woke up very late. After Rulu and C.C. had breakfast, they sat in the living room of the underground room as usual, watching television news to understand the situation outside. They heard the news broadcaster saying:

"Attention, we are now broadcasting a special news bulletin. We are now broadcasting a special news bulletin. The newly appointed Governor, Prince Su Wen, has recently issued a special announcement regarding the military operation to eliminate rebels, making an important speech. The following will be the detailed content of this special announcement. Attention all viewers—"

The television screen changed, showing a middle-aged man wearing a purple-gold robe sitting at a desk in a room. This man had a gloomy face with a gleam of cruelty in his eyes. Looking at the draft on the table, he spoke into the microphone in a hoarse, emotionless voice:

"I, the 536th Prince of the Sanctuary, came here to assume the position of Governor of Blue Sea City with the principle of peaceful coexistence with the citizens of Blue Sea City and all residents outside Blue Sea City. However, I was subjected to an assassination attempt by unidentified personnel as soon as I arrived here, before officially taking office as Governor. I am deeply shocked and regretful about this.

For my own safety, as well as the safety of all residents of Blue Sea City, after repeated consultations with the Feihu General, I was forced to launch the large-scale military operation in the previous period. The purpose was only to protect my safety and that of Blue Sea City citizens, and also to find the true culprit of that assassination attempt.

Unfortunately, until now, the identity of that despicable true culprit is still unclear. No rebel organization has admitted to planning that assassination attempt. The true culprit is still at large, not receiving the punishment they deserve.

I now declare, in the name of the newly appointed Governor of Blue Sea City, that in five days, over five hundred prisoners will be collectively executed in the central square of Blue Sea City. These prisoners are all rebel organization members captured from outside Blue Sea City.

However, as I have just taken office as Governor, I do not wish to cause more bloodshed. Therefore, I am giving those remaining rebel forces a special opportunity. If you are willing to hand over that despicable true culprit, I can show mercy beyond the law and specially pardon these prisoners' crimes, releasing these five hundred prisoners without guilt.

I also want to say to that despicable assassin, everything that has happened these days was caused by you. Those who died were killed by you. You are the real murderer. If you have any conscience, you should come forward and surrender to us. As long as you are willing to admit your guilt and surrender to us, all these people will be saved.

Of course, you can also continue to hide and be a coward. But if so, these five hundred people will certainly die. After executing these five hundred people, we will take the next step of military action, launching more brutal attacks on the outskirts of Blue Sea City, not excluding attacks on the general public. The casualties at that time will be even more severe than before.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

Assassin, you alone can save countless innocent lives. Are you going to continue being a coward, or will you save these countless innocent people? Think about it..."

After Prince Su Wen finished speaking, he looked at the camera with a cold smile. Rulu, seeing Prince Su Wen's detestable smile on his face, was so angry that his whole body trembled. He stared at the television screen and said in a low voice: "Su Wen, you despicable fellow, playing this hand. Fine, if you want to play like this, I'll play along to the end."

Saying this, Rulu stood up and walked towards the exit of the underground room. Seeing that Rulu was acting strangely, C.C. quickly said: "Rulu, what are you going to do? You're not falling for his trap, are you? He's obviously trying to use these people to threaten you, to force you to come out."

Rulu stopped, looked at C.C., and said coldly: "Of course I know that, but if I don't go out, doesn't it seem like I'm afraid of him? Just that useless prince, I can kill him anytime."

C.C. said: "Rulu, calm down. Things might not be that simple. Since he dares to openly provoke you, he must have taken precautions. If you really go to assassinate him, you'll fall into his trap."

"So what? With this Spiritual-power, even if he's prepared, I can still kill him." Rulu had an arrogant expression, seeming to completely disregard Prince Su Wen.

"No, this is too risky. If you don't consider yourself, think about Nana. If something happens to you, who will take care of Nana?"

"Nana?!" Rulu was taken aback, and his heated mind cooled down a bit. He said with great reluctance: "That guy is using such despicable means against me. Are we just going to let him continue being so arrogant?"

"Think more about it. You're so clever, you'll find a way."

"A way?" Rulu suddenly thought of something. He rushed over, grabbed C.C.'s hand, and pulled her to his bedroom, closing the door.

Rulu looked at C.C. and said urgently: "C.C., since you can give me this Spiritual-power, you should be able to use other Psionic powers. Perhaps you can help me deal with that Prince Su Wen."

However, C.C.'s answer greatly disappointed Rulu: "Then you guessed wrong. Unfortunately, apart from giving you Spiritual-power, I basically have no other Psionic powers. Except for not being able to die, I'm no different from ordinary people."

"I see. Well, that's fine..." Rulu continued, "I remember that Prince Su Wen said you know many secrets of the Sanctuary. If you tell me these secrets, I might be able to find a way to deal with the Sanctuary, and thus have a way to deal with Prince Su Wen."

"Why are you bringing this up again?" C.C. turned her face away, looking somewhat displeased, and said, "Haven't I said before that I don't want to talk about anything related to the Sanctuary?"

"You can't tell me anything at all?" Rulu stared at C.C.'s face.

"Stop asking. I won't tell you."

"Why?" Rulu suddenly became agitated. He put his hands on C.C.'s shoulders and said loudly to her: "Why won't you tell me these things? Why do you keep secrets for that Emperor? Whose side are you on?!"

"I'm not on anyone's side," C.C. said with an icy expression. "I won't help you, nor will I help that Emperor. I have no interest in the grudge between you two. The reason I stay by your side is because I need you to do something for me. Apart from that, nothing concerns me."

"Are you really so heartless that you remain unmoved even as I'm framed by Prince Su Wen?" Rulu said with a gloomy face, suppressing his inner anger.

"Yes, my decision will not change."

Rulu fell silent. He stared at C.C.'s face without speaking. C.C. lowered her eyelids, avoiding Rulu's gaze, also not speaking. Who knows how long this continued.

"Fine then, C.C. You continue to maintain your neutrality." Rulu completely lost faith in C.C. After giving her a deep look, he opened the door and quickly walked towards the exit of the underground room.

"Where are you going, Rulu?!" C.C. chased after him, anxiously calling out.

"Didn't you say that nothing concerns you? Why are you asking now?!" Rulu left the underground room without looking back, leaving C.C. standing there speechless.
