Chapter 5: Uninvited Guests

"Good, now there's only one left." After dealing with the Governor's subordinates, Rulu turned his gaze toward the Governor standing alone in the distance. With a wave of his hand, a gust of wind appeared out of nowhere, picking up an intact gun from the ground. The gun flew up and came to Rulu's side, where he caught it in his hand.

"Don't blame me, you brought this upon yourselves." Rulu muttered to himself as he raised his hand, pointing the gun at the Governor, then pulled the trigger.

With a "bang," flames shot from the muzzle and the bullet whistled past the Governor's shoulder, missing him. The gun's powerful recoil made Rulu step back.

"While guns have strong power, they're less accurate than spells. But to kill an Ultra-capable who can strengthen his body, guns are more effective." Thinking this, Rulu rubbed his numbed wrist and slowly walked toward the Governor, intending to get closer before shooting again.

"This is bad. At this rate, I'll be killed. I need to think of something." Seeing Rulu approaching, the Governor became anxious. He quickly looked around and suddenly noticed Mayor Qiao lying on the ground nearby with his hands and feet bound. The Governor immediately rushed to Mayor Qiao's side and lifted him from the ground.

"What are you doing? Get away from him!" Rulu shouted, aiming his gun at the Governor, intending to shoot. But ultimately, he didn't pull the trigger and lowered the gun.

"Shoot! Why aren't you shooting? Weren't you so bold just now? Shoot!" The Governor shouted, standing behind Mayor Qiao and choking him with his arm, using the mayor's body as a shield. This way, if Rulu fired, he would kill Mayor Qiao while the Governor would remain unharmed.

"You despicable creature." Rulu cursed angrily. Despite his fury, he felt helpless. With Mayor Qiao in the Governor's hands, it would be very difficult to attack the Governor without harming Mayor Qiao.

"Hahaha, kid, you can't defeat me. Just wait, Sanctuary's troops will be here soon, and then you're finished." The Governor continued to shout. Rulu's mind raced, trying to find a way to rescue Mayor Qiao from the Governor's hands. However, after thinking for quite a while, he couldn't come up with anything, and the situation reached a stalemate.

From the distance came the roaring sound of speeding vehicles. Three medium-sized gray-black metal armored vehicles appeared on the far street, rapidly approaching. With a screech, the three armored vehicles stopped not far from Rulu and the Governor.

"Haha, our people are here. You're finished." The Governor, thinking these were military troops, became even more delighted.

Rulu looked serious, staring intently at the three armored vehicles. He thought that if these really were military personnel, he would have to abandon the rescue of Mayor Qiao and escape with Nana and Mrs. Qiao. Otherwise, none of them would be able to escape.

After the armored vehicles stopped, more than twenty young men and women with red ribbons tied around their heads immediately disembarked. These people were dressed in various attire—some wore short sleeves, some wore vests, some wore shorts, and some even wore sandals. They looked no different from ordinary citizens, but they all carried various black firearms such as submachine guns, rifles, and handguns.

"Hmm, they don't look like Sanctuary troops. Could they be... people from the rebel organization?!" The smile on the Governor's face suddenly froze. As the Governor of Blue Sea City's concession area, he knew that the slums outside the concession area were filled with many underground armed organizations that resisted Sanctuary. These organizations deeply resented Sanctuary for various reasons and often launched attacks against the concession area to resist Sanctuary's rule.

"Who are you people? What are you doing here?!" The Governor tried to remain calm, shouting at the group of people with red ribbons on their heads.

"Quiet! Everyone put your hands up." A man with black curly hair, about thirty years old, said very sternly. This curly-haired man seemed to be the leader of these people. Following his words, the others with red ribbons raised their guns with a rustling sound, pointing them at the Governor, as well as Rulu, Nana, and the others.

"Captain Guan, save me!" The captured Mayor Qiao suddenly shouted, "I've been caught by this bastard Governor. The others are my family. Don't hurt them!"

Hearing this voice, the curly-haired man carefully looked at Mayor Qiao who was being held hostage by the Governor. When he clearly saw Mayor Qiao's face, he immediately called out to him: "I understand, Mayor Qiao. Don't worry, I'll definitely rescue all of you."

"So it was you, you old fool, setting me up." The Governor glared viciously at Mayor Qiao and said to the curly-haired man called Captain Guan, "You damn rebel organization, how dare you come to the concession area? You must be tired of living. When our Sanctuary troops arrive, you'll all die here!"

"Who are you talking to? Do you want me to kill you right now?" A thin-faced young man beside Captain Guan shouted in a shrill voice. He raised his gun and aimed at the Governor, seemingly ready to shoot.

"Put the gun down, A-Bing, or you'll hurt Mayor Qiao." Captain Guan, concerned for Mayor Qiao's safety, quickly intervened. Although A-Bing was very angry, he followed Captain Guan's instructions and lowered his gun.
