Encounter 1: Witch and Demon, impossible friendship? (1)

  "Tür!"

Here is a young dy wearing a ridiculous costume. Despite appearances, she's not just a kid disguised for Halloween.

After all, we aren't in October.

  "Huh?! Why didn't it work?"

Despite just being ten, she follows a rigourous training routine.

"Li, I keep telling you. Unless you channel the energy through the body part you use, nothing is gonna happen."

This one is her mother, her name is Sally Heisenberg. She's a bonafide 1116 years old witch.

Some could even call her an old hag.

"Eeeeeh?! Why didn't you tell me?!"

This young dy extending her palm into nothingness is named Lilenbherg. She is the daughter of that old and beautiful witch.

Perhaps the more correct term would be a half witch. Her father was human, after all.

For you see, witches are an entirely different species from humans.

The young one fell headfirst on the floor, all her energy taken away by the duties imposed on her. Fortunately, the mother could catch her before she got damaged.

"I don't feel so good all of a sudden."

"It's only natural, this body can't handle the burden of your immense amount of energy. It's unthinkable for a human body to do so."

The young girl started to panicked, trying to run in all directions but as...

She had no energy to the point of not even being able to lift her fingers at the moment.

"What should I do, Mom? At this pace, I won't be able to become a witch most extraordinaire."

The mother could only respond with concern, her suspicious eyes fixated on her daughter.

  "A what?"

"Don't you know, Mom? Allcure extraordinaire, it's quite the feast of a serie."

The mother's concern grew, she was trying to understand what she deemed as useless babbles but listened to her kid all the same.

"(This is just my duty as a mother! Regardless of how silly Li becomes, I need to be accepting! Wait a second... Where have I heard that name...)"

  "Are you listening, Mom?"

Her kid really reminds me of her when she was younger. She has the same boldness and what about it attitude?

  She truly is her daughter.

However, most of all, I can tell just by looking at her...

She's also different. Having grown up with a loving family and far away from war and conflicts, the kindness in her heart hasn't dulled. Contrary to that old dy.

"Who's calling me an old dy?! I'll have you know I'm only 1116. For us witches, that's basically being in our thirties."

Crap, I underestimated her sharp senses. Her "I'm not old" complex is still as strong as ever.

I, Bel'Il'Lathia II shall take my leave. I know how dangerous that witch is in the first pce.

" Hm? Mom, are you listening to me?"

"Yes, sweetie. Mom is listening. Manicure, was it?"

  "No it wasn't!"

She started sulking, still yed on the floor, rolling around in anger. Well, I suppose she got a tiny bit of energy back.

"You never listen to me! I don't care anymore! I'm going back to my room!"

That, she did. She rolled expertly into the interior of the house.

Profiting of this silly conflict, I invited myself into their home, travelling through the shadows. This is a technique specific to us demons called the dark step.

By converting ourselves into dark karma, we abandon our physical form and embrace the darkness of shadows. The only inconvenience is that we aren't able to flow karmic energy properly when using it. If we're in danger, we need to turn back into our physical forms.

"I can feel it. This energy... It feels the same as the little demon girl I saved that day. Why is she here?"

Hehehe, leave to me be an expert at stealth. I bet this old hag hasn't figured out yet I invaded her home.

  "Wait, devil !"

Again with my memories issues! I was supposed to ask that old dy if she would let me live with her! I had been so entranced into this stealth act that I forgot.

As I assumed back my physical form, I felt something under my foot.

"What are you doing in my house?"

  "The kid, devil!"

How embarrassing, I got found out by that klutzy girl. She hasn't even properly developed her magic yet. This put a shame on the name of demons.

"Who you calling devil? Have you seen your face? Are you stupid or something?

  "I'm not stupid, devil !"

"How am I stupid when you keep saying that weird thing?"

"It's just a verbal tick, devil. Don't worry about it, devil."

She looked at me like she didn't believe what I was saying at all, this girlie is so easy to read.

  "Likely story."

"You damn kid, devil ! You don't even know me, devil! How can you be so sure, devil!"

"Mom told me demons are liars that shouldn't be trusted at any cost."

"Well, I suppose this Sally-devil isn't wrong, devil."

"Hey, who told you my mother's name?!"

Asking was so embarrassing but I couldn't help it. I refuse to go back to Purgatory! I'll never be a succubus like mom wants me to. Who cares about things like being a princess and all that, I just want to live one hell of a life where I enjoy little things.

  I started ughing to myself.

"Dedede, one hell of a life, devil. That's a good one, devil."

That kid was staring daggers at me.

"You have a weird ugh, you know. Still it's kind of cute."

  She really made me flustered.

"C-complements will g-get you nowhere, devil."

  "You mean compliments?

This human nguage thing is weird. What's the difference between ?ompl?m??nt and ?omplément anyway. Aren't they the same? Those silly humans and their overcomplicated nguage.

I suddenly felt my body being lifted above the floor. For some reason, I was unable to escape to the shadows.

"Caught you, little purple rascal. How did you even find me? It's not like I leave traces."

  I gulped.

"I-I just followed your scent after you saved me, Madam-devil."

"That weird tick hasn't gone away, I see... But that would mean you followed my trace for 100 years. Shouldn't you have grown by then? You're the same wee demon as you were at the time. Normally, they grow much more in that amount of time."

"Mom-devil always told me I was special! But nevermind Mom-devil right now! Please adopt me, Sally-devil!"

Mom just puffed and her smoke and devilered a cold line.

  "No. This isn't an orphanage."

  "Devil?!"
