Chapter 37: Clash! Kail versus Hathor! I

  Chapter 37

  ~ Clash! Kail versus Hathor! I ~

  SW/SW/SW

  …it this some kind joke?

  I can’t find the Log Out button…

What on earth was wrong with his game? First it was bugged, causing him to see blood and gore, and then suddenly his avatar changed thoroughly into an NPC’s avatar. Even though the parameters he had now were so high, almost OP, somehow he couldn’t smile. The whereabouts of the Log Out button threw him in a pit of confusion… although he calmed down afterwards.

“[Log Out]!” this time he tried to use voice command, but failed. No popup window appeared.

  “[Quit]!” nope.

  “[Exit]!” nope.

  “[Escape]!”

  Nothing popped out!

As realization came crashing down at him, Kail felt despair enveloping him.

  …I’m trapped…

  Trapped…

  Crash!!!

Kail managed to dodge a vertical attack, which was aimed at his head. The surprise attack was so fast that Kail didn’t think he’d manage to dodge it if he were AceKivras. His heart stopped beating once he knew who the attacker was.

  Hathor.

It was… horrifying—a buxom succubus (naked at that) was holding a great axe twice her stature. Other than her big breasts bobbing as she moved, the great axe’s unique shape caught his attention.

The handle itself defied logic and religion, as it was in the shape of the Cross. He was under a false assumption that it was Holy-elemented, when it wasn’t. The long hilt was utterly black with vines in the color of blood decorating it. His keen eyes captured weird words around the axe’s sharp edge, which he recognized as Arabic.

It started with letters kaf, fa, and ra—and the rest was unreadable due to dry blood splattered on it. In an instant Kail knew what they meant…

...the symbol of the one-eyed deceiver.

The meaning horrified him to the core, although his Cool Headed perk calmed him down afterwards…

Why a succubus carrying around a Cross-shaped greataxe? A conspiracy?

Hathor let out a sexy, breathless giggle that’d excite even the holiest of men. “What is wrong? Does my dazzling, perfect body send you crazy? Or, possibly, are you thinking about… our unfinished ritual?” she teased, hand traveling down to her most sensitive part, rubbing it vigorously.

Noticing that it didn’t have any effect, she licked her lips and pushed two fingers inside, whimpering like a whore she was.

Kail wasn’t all that impressed, though. Thank god he had the perk Cool Headed, or else his other half would be standing proud at this point.

“…what on earth are you doing?” he asked.

Hathor gasped, retracting her slimy hand from her lower region, “Why are you still sane? That is weird… My passive skill always works 100 percent with men…”

What kind of passive skill is that…? Kail queried inwardly.

The succubus swung her giant axe as if it was a dagger, didn’t mind at all of her nudity, “Oh, well, not that it matters. You’ll die soon, anyway.”

“Wait, it’s me, Hathor. Don’t you recognize me?”

“Oh, I do,” Hathor paused several seconds, “an imposter.”

He… he was found out? That fast? So much for that act…

  “No, I’m your husband.”

She snorted, “Oh, please. I’ve been married for hundred years! I know what Azariel’s like! A mere, petty imposter like you hoping to impersonate him? Ha! The delusion! Give up so I can mutilate you and dance on your corpse!”

Disturbing thoughts invaded Kail’s mind. This… this was just like those mangas… those… isekai-something mangas where the main character got reincarnated or sucked into another world… Amongst those mangas, there was this one manga that haunted him.

A manga where the death of the avatar meant the death of the player in the real world…

Would he… would he die if he was killed in-game?

Kail gritted his teeth. As if he’d let her kill him! He had to fight back!

Hathor leaped forward. Thanks to his high perception stat, he was able to see Hathor’s movement and evaded just right before the sharp metallic blade met his head. She really intended to end his life…

He had to retaliate, but what kind of spells did he have?

After voicing his voice command, a window appeared before him, filled with Darkness Spells. With a thought, he changed the filter to ‘most frequently used’.

What was going on with these… dreadfully dangerous spells? And what did AoE stand for? Was that some kind of formula? Or was it a code?

Out of these dangerous spells, the safest ones were Darkness Ball and Dark Aura. Unlike Pillar of Death, Sigil of Despair, and Mass Destruction, they were low-leveled and quite possibly weak. Kail didn’t want to attract any more attention than it already was.

Hathor’s attack threw him off guard. In a split second, Kail managed to recover from the shock and blocked it with his hands. The attack sent him flying outside, breaking furniture and walls in his wake.

  Oh no!!

As he didn’t know how to fly, Kail’s body quickly gravitated towards the hard, cobblestone ground. The approximated distance until his inevitable death was roughly 200 meters ahead.

He’d better think of something fast!

Hathor had not the intention of leaving him alone. A moment later she emerged from the castle, flying at him, nude, while swinging her huge great axe. “Do you think I’ll let you die just like that?!”

  [Darkness Ball].

To Kail's surprise, a huge ball of darkness flew towards Hathor and it exploded violently.

  Oh, crap...

His prediction was false. Despite having 'Beginner' in the description, the size and explosion were the other way around...

Hathor emerged from the smoke, a bit burnt. The attack caught her off guard. She, too, was as surprised as he was.

As an ex-Summoner, Kail wasn’t familiar with sword and used his hands as a shield instead. In this close proximity, magic was dangerous because of incantation, unless he created some space between them. While short, the incantation left a clue for Hathor to attack because when he spoke the incantation, a rune appeared below him and around his hand. He needed to fall back, but he couldn’t move while in the air.

Again, Hathor’s attacks were viciously fast and aimed at his head. She swung such a heavy axe with ease and there was no bead of sweat on her jaw-droppingly beautiful face. How true what the Scylla Queen said. She really was the most dangerous succubus ever lived.

But he didn’t want to die yet!

  [Dark Aura].

Purple, almost black aura wrapped his body, making him seem bigger and bigger in Hathor’s vision. There was sinister shadow behind him, grinning fiendishly at her, sending unfathomable fear through her body.

Kail reached out to disarm her, but was shocked to see that Hathor maneuvered behind him.

“Did you think it’d work on me?” as soon as she ended the explanation, Kail saw a long hilt in front of his neck and quickly realized what she was thinking.

Hathor was going to suffocate him using the handle of her axe!

With her pulling the hilt closer to his neck and him pushing away, they had quite a strength contest for a while until Kail growled in anger. He jabbed his armored elbow to her unprotected rib and she cried out, losing her power momentarily.

Kail took the moment to spin around and deliver a punch in her face.

Hathor screamed in pain and spun around, her bat-like wings stretched out to prevent her from crashing into the castle wall.

Rubbing her sore cheek, she screamed, “How could you hit a woman?! You are the worst!!”

“Ah, sorry. It was on impulse,” Kail lightly answered. This time he used [Warp] to appear directly behind her.

His punch was evaded and Hathor counterattacked with her axe, dishing out a flurry of mad combos. Despite its weight and appearance, her swinging it around didn’t leave an opening for Kail to retaliate. Although he could see her axe’s movement, synchronizing his eyes with his limbs was easier said than done.

Kail didn’t know what possessed him, but he glanced down.

Only 70 meters until his death…

“Got you!!” Kail heard Hathor screaming and he twisted his body at the source of sound.

  Oh n—

It was too late. Kail was sent flying through the wall. The attack connected with his torso, leaving a horizontal wound on his chest. Her axe was sharp as it was deadly.

He coughed. Somehow everything was spinning and his head felt heavy. With a groan, he pulled himself to his feet. The attack hurt like hell, but he was saved from an imminent death.

  Hurt…?

  Hurt like hell?

…how was he able to feel pain?

A notification window popped out of nowhere, breaking his chains of thoughts.

  …what the...?
