I tried to listen to figure out where the music was coming from, but the plaza made the sound echo all around me, and the side streets weren't any better. After wandering for a couple minutes I finally decided to climb a building. I picked an abandoned back alley just in case it was illegal to climb buildings. I'd played other games where you could climb a building with no problem, so how hard could it really be?
Hard, very hard.
Apparently 5 strength is not enough to climb a vertical surface with barely any handholds. Oh, and did I mention that most of the buildings were made out of large slabs of stone? There weren't any edges to grab onto, unless you could reach twice your height. Maybe Bjorn could have done it, but even jumping I couldn't reach. So after falling on my bum a couple times (it hurts more when you have a tail to land on) I decided to sit there and pout.
While I was pouting I remembered my new class, and all my blocked notifications, so I started looking at everything, hoping to find some kind of music finding spell.
It took me a little longer than I expected to read everything, and then read some of it again, and again, until I thought I understood everything. I was kind of glad I didn't read all the notifications while I was still with Poroto, because I probably had a stupid look on my face while I was reading, and then I remembered Marcus. I turned a bit red as I realized that I looked a bit like he had when he couldn't process his notifications. Then I looked around just to make sure no one saw me in my awkward state. I did see a small rat chewing on something, but there weren't any people. I did notice that the music was a lot louder. Like a lot louder. In fact it was so loud I realized how absorbed I was in my notifications, and started heading towards the plaza.
As I got closer, I found the side streets were slightly crowded. All the people who were missing before had come back. Most of them seemed to be going towards the plaza, so I just moved along with the crowd. When we got to the plaza it had changed. There was a stage set up near the center, and crowds of people all over the place. There was one path that was clear from one of the roads to the center, but the rest was filled with people. To get a slightly better view I decided to use a spell. Shadow Step. At first I tried to step to the shadow of a chimney on top of one of the guild buildings, but it failed. So then I went back to the side street, and Shadow Stepped to the darkside of the roof. It gave me a wierd feeling as I went from one place to another, but I managed to not fall off the roof. Luckily I had a great view of the whole plaza from the rooftop so I was able to see a group of soldiers in bright red jackets with black shirts, and pants start to enter the plaza by the cleared path. They had long spears with red and black banners haning on them. Behind the soldiers was a group of trumpeter soldiers. They had the same uniforms, but they carried, and played, trumpets. Then came a group of drummers, also in the same uniform, and then came a chariot.
The chariot was made of gold, and there was one man riding in it. He wore robes and a lot of gold jewelry, and his hair even had stips of gold in it. It made me feel a little annoyed to see him wearing so much gold. It just seemed excessive. Behind him was another group of soldiers on horses, and finally at the very end was a group of soldiers that looked like they probably did magic. They had staffs, and wands, and wore robes (red and black of course).
Eventually the gold wearing man got out of his chariot and on to the stage. The crowds around him started cheering, until he held up his hands to stop them. He did have a kind of charming look, and I might have thought he looked hansome if it wasn't for all the gold, but the way the crowd responded to him made me think he was either a celebrity or a noble that everyone liked.
"People of Dorsythe, I have come before you today to tell you of our grand undertaking. The king has decreed that we shall hunt down and destroy all the creatures of evil, and we will hunt them to the places they hide. No where will be safe for the monsters that have plagued humankind. Today, as your lord, I come before you to ask for volunteers to travel to the dark lands and hunt down the monsters, to save our people, and to secure our kingdom from our enemies." The crowds cheered. "If you are brave enough, and love this land, then go to the adventurer's guild and they will sign you up on our greatest quest ever!"
