Pov: Naruto
"How long is he going to be!?" I compin and y down on the floor, throwing a smoke pellet up repeatedly and catching it in boredom.
...
"That's it, if he is going to be te than he can't bme me for setting a trap" I get up and look around the room.
I grab the duster from the bckboard and wedge it within the door.
"You think our sensei is going to fall for that?" Sakura asks.
"Why not?" I reply.
"He can obviously see that as he enters..." Sakura expins.
"He is right, like a Jonin wouldn't see that" Sasuke adds.
...
Oh- maybe I am too used to pying pranks on people my age, a sensei...? Like Kenzo but better... damn, how do I prank hin with the stuff I have in this room?
I look around for a bit and- *Creak* *Puff*
...
Did he fall for that? Are you serious? What ninja sensei did we get?
"First impressions...? I don't like you guys" our sensei says with an eye smile.
He then walks out of the room and we follow him up to the roof were he sits down on the railing, Sasuke sits down and me and Sakura follow his lead.
"Right- lets start with introductions, likes, dislikes and dreams for the future, stuff like that" our sensei scratches his head as he leans on the railing awkwardly.
This guy seems super unreliable.
"Can you introduce yourself first?" I pipe up and rex myself on the steps we sit on.
"Me? I am Hatake Kakashi... I have no desire to talk about my dislikes or likes... dreams? Hmmm... I have lots of hobbies" He nods his head.
"That- never mind" Sakura sighs.
"Lets start on the right, go first" He gestures to me.
"My name is Naruto Uzimaki! I like ramen noodles and dislike having to hide my ramen eating habits from Kenzo- my dream? To be the best Hokage there ever was and get everyone in this vilge to accept me!" I cheer out.
...
"Hobbies? Pranks of course" I smirk.
...
"My name is Sasuke Uchiha, there are tons of things I dislike but I don't really like anything... I don't like to use the word dream but I have an ambition. To restore my cn and kill a certain man" He stares back at the teacher and I raise my eyebrows.
Kenzo taught me about what happened... why is Sakura blushing? Should I have said something cooler?
"I'm Sakura Haruno, the things I like is... well the person I like is... should I say dreams for the future..? My hobby....- Oh my!... I dislike Naruto" She squirms but deadpans at the end.
"Oi!" I retaliate in tone.
"Ignoring that lets discuss the duties to be done tomorrow, first of all is survival training- you versus me to be precise... but well- hehehe..." He begins to chuckle.
"Survival training is our duty? Hey what's so funny?" I ask.
"Well... of the 27 graduates only 9 will pass, the rest sent back to the Academy, if you fail tomorrow... well- try not to fail" He smiles at us and my eyes twitch.
Kenzo didn't tell me that.
-One hour ter-
"-And I can't eat breakfast so more food!" I chant as Kenzo allows me another ramen cup.
*Slurp!*
I finish my current one and go to the cupboard to grab another.
"That's why you have to train me tonight!" I finish my speech.
...
"I am doing paperwork though, the new unit has to file a few reports on the missions they do within Konoha and the nature of them make the reports very long..." Kenzo yawns as he continues to write.
"What? Make them write it!" I beg.
"No- this is the report here, I have to design the report and make copies for them, designing now and copies tomorrow, going to be busy" Kenzo says and continues.
...
"Oi! Help me Dattebayo! Help me!" I tug on his coat.
*Boil*
"Waters done, eat ramen be less distracting" Kenzo tells me and I sulk as I pour my st ramen cup of the evening.
...
*Slurp*
...
"Can you at least give me a hint as to what I need to do?" I ask.
"Jonin, that's your hint" He says.
"Wha- I know he is a Jonin O! That doesn't help at all!" I down the rest of my noodles and sit down on my bed.
Jonin... why is that a hint...?
Jonin...
Jonin...
Nope cant think of anything.

-Next morning-
Pov: Kakashi
"-and that means we found out nothing, not even his mission target knows much about him- or even cares about him in some manner other than a watcher" Shikaku tells me and I nod.
"Hm- unfortunately the Hokage has dismissed any opportunity to investigate him as well... what is he thinking pcing a stranger in such a high level job" Ibiki shakes his head.
"We should just listen and drop it then- whatever the Hokage is pnning its obviously something we should stop snooping into" I say and shut my book.
"I will keep a close eye, but you are right" Ibiki agrees and sighs.
"Oh yeah, how did your genin do? Did they pass?" Shikaku asks.
"Oh- I haven't tested them yet, I just made a quick stop here to talk" I reply.
"You have been here for an hour?" Ibiki smirks.
"Yes, I should probably get going" I yawn and flicker out.
...
I should probably get started, wouldn't want to keep them waiting would I?
I flicker over to my training ground to see my potential genin waiting, I walk up to them zily and wave.
"Late!" Sakura yells and Sasuke gives me an annoyed stare.
Naruto snaps awake and points at me dramatically.
"Jonin!" He yells.
"Correct- now, I have two bells here, to pass this exam you must obtain a bell- don't leave the training ground and get it done by noon. Any questions?" I ask and dangle two bells.
"There is only two?" Sakura asks.
I smile.
"Oh no... that's not cool man! I passed the test fair and square- even if we win I am back to the academy!" Naruto ruffles his hair and sits down with a thump.
"What do you mean...?" Sakura asks.
"Isn't it obvious? Of course I am going to give it to you and Sasuke needs to have this, his 'dream' is much more important than mine..." Naruto sighs and I raise my eyebrow in surprise.
So Naruto knows about what happened? That wasn't spread around his css as to not exclude Sasuke from a social life... maybe Kenzo told him, he would know.
Honestly surprised about the maturity he is showing here... now the other two need to pass and they can all form a genin team.
"Ready?" I smile.
"Hn" Sasuke gets up and pulls Naruto up with him.
"Set?" I ask.
"Yes!" Sakura cheers and prepares.
"Go!" I say and watch as all of them flicker away, Sakura into the trees and both Naruto and Sasuke hiding in the singur tree behind me, they tried to make a diversion but I saw through it easily.
...
Lets focus up.
I pull out my favourite book and nonchantly start reading it as I wait.
No one is provoked yet? Good, they are patient at least- I will read a few chapters and then I may point out the two behind me.
...
Sasuke seems to be silently arguing with Naruto, rapid gestures and ideas.
Some sembnce of teamwork there... just needs polishing and their third teammate.
*Flip*
*Woosh!*
Naruto drops from the tree tops and tries to drop kick me, I take a step to the right and he rolls past me.
*Woosh!*
He jumps back using his hands to propel him upwards and goes for a kick across the chin- I look up and watch him try to drop that missed kick on my head- I squat and he attempts to punch me as he falls to the ground.
He does not.
I move backwards and lean on a tree, Sasuke above me and an advantage given to Naruto... will they take the bait?
"Its best to use your kunai, if you want to win that is" I tell Naruto as I use my foot to deflect many blows from him.
...
*Kick!*
I kick him backwards and he barely struggles to stay standing before rushing me again- he has quite some stamina... and yet Sasuke still won't drop? Maybe not even a bit of teamwork to polish in the first pce.
*Shut!*
I shut my book and look at Naruto- *Sm!* I hit his chest and he stumbles for a moment, barely recovering in time to block the kick from the left, I flicker behind him and perform a simple set of hand signs.
"Jutsu!?" Naruto opens his eyes in panic.
"Thousand years of pain!" I yell and jam my fingers at his butt sending him flying into the water nearby.
...
I provoke Sasuke by looking directly at him and he furrows his brows before jumping down and sending three shuriken.
*Clink!* *Woosh!* *Woosh!*
One bounces of the other and two get thrown at me, one from behind and one from above- I use substitution and appear where Sasuke was in the tree.
Sasuke looks around and I sigh- he starts to sign and breathes out a fireball at me.
*CRACKLE* *BRRRUUUUUUUSSSSHHHH*
Fire spews at the tree and I flicker to the ground and descend into it- I arrive below sasuke and pull him down while sending myself up.
His chin hits the dirt and he grunts- gring at me I smile before flickering over to Sakura and casting a genjutsu on her... perhaps I will make it look like I left to go after Naruto and killed Sasuke with a kunai to the forehead? Seems scary enough for a little dy in love.
And I watch her fall for it and faint.
I turn my head to see Naruto retying his head band and throwing water off his body by shaking.
All incapacitated- well, Naruto would have been if I didn't use a non lethal jutsu.
...
"(Distant) oh! Jonin! I get it now!" Naruto cheers and runs over to the other two.
"He is- Sakura-chan wake up! He is a Jonin, even if he looks... like he is stupid- he just showed us that he is better in taijutsu, ninjutsu and genjutsu- we should get him together dattebayo!" Naruto nods enthusiastically.
Ouch... at least he got the idea, this bell test is so obvious its no wonder I remove any aspiring genin from going further in their career- but now is the tricky part... can they do it well? I watch as Sakura and Naruto drag Sasuke out the dirt and huddle in on each other.
...
Come on then, I want actual teamwork- nothing mundane as 'attack all at once' I need to see proof- a reason to teach you.
They stop talking to each other and Naruto steps forward to call me out.
"Come on out Sensei! Lets fight!" Naruto decres and the other two prepare.
Haaa- just fighting? Lets hope this is a trick.
I flicker out to the field and slouch a little as Naruto approaches alone.
"What are you trying this time?" I smile and wait for any attack.
"Fight us all coward!" He yells and I let out a groan of disappointment in my head.
Am I expecting too much? They are already better than most that try to pass this test- I take my hands out of my pockets as I watch all three attack me simultaneously.

Pov: Naruto
*Grumble*
"You want some Sasuke-kun?" Sakura holds up the bento and I offer up mine as well.
"No, I can wait" Sasuke says as his eye twitches.
"Told you that bell was fake, should have listened" I lecture him.
"You didn't tell me I picked up a smoke pellet!" Sasuke retorts.
"I was trying!" I reply.
"Stop fighting! Sasuke-kun please just eat, no one will know" Sakura offers once more and Sasuke refuses with a headshake.
...
"How did you even see through that genjutsu?" Sasuke asks.
"Kenzo trained me to see all the tiny details, the bell sound was lower in tone than when he first picked them up" I finish off my bento and y down next to the post with my hands behind my head.
"That's impossible- now way you heard that in the middle of fighting" Sakura says.
"She is right, even if you could hear the bell you would be far too focused on fighting to trust your ears that much" Sasuke agrees.
"Well it was that and he cast a jutsu a moment before hand, no effect happened so I was able to keep an ear out for it" I tell them.
"But he substituted right after- pulled the bells out and... oh, he doesn't need to use signs for substitution" Sakura mumbles.
"Yeah he was being far too obvious dattebayo, probably taking it easy on us..." I yawn.
...
Sakura finishes her meal and we sit in silence for a moment.
*Grumble*
"Well we failed... want to go eat Ichiraku's after this?" I ask.
"Hn" Sasuke says.
"Sure!" Sakura agrees right after Sasuke does.
...
*Flicker*
"Hello again, feeling hungry Sasuke?" Kakashi asks.
"Hn" Sasuke stares silently at him, probably too hungry to compin.
"Well, I had some time to think about it... and decided! Naruto- you recognized many things during this test including that I shouldn't be underestimated and teamwork is essential, but you failed to convince your team and many tactical mistakes mostly relying on the fact that you were fighting me together- separately" Kakashi scolds me.
"Sakura- easy to fool and struggling to find ways to help your team despite the chances given- Sasuke, you thought yourself better and recklessly charged at me, used an area of effect jutsu that didn't benefit your team and failed to listen to Naruto" Kakashi lowers his scary looking gaze.
"You pass" He smiles.
"What...?" Sakura says absentmindedly.
"But we didn't get the bells?" Sasuke adds.
"To look underneath the underneath, you teamed up which was fine... cked the ability effectively do anything with that- but made up your score with that st discussion, refusing food to save your allies... offering the food and deciding on celebrating failure after this" Kakashi smiles even more.
"Teamwork! It wasn't a bell test it was all about teamwork!" My eye twitches and Kakashi giggles as he holds his hand to his face.
"The most important thing for young genin like you? Is the team you are apart of" Kakashi stands taller and takes a more serious tone.
...
He takes a moment to look at the stone behind him, thinking in depth but shakes his head and looks back to us.
"For now lets go celebrate shall we? We can start our ninja duties tomorrow" He lowers his posture again and unties Sasuke.

Pov: Kenzo
*Scribble* *Scrawl*
...
No that's not right, why would he put the wrong address in his report... oh, okay I get it now- that means report one and seven are the same mission.
*Scribble* *Scrawl*
And that leaves me with Raiki and Sastumi's reports... which I wish I could unread- *Creak*
The door opens and enters one of the Genin.
"Can I collect the new reports we need to make?" She asks.
"Go for it- ask Kanata to make some copies if there isn't enough for you all" I gesture to the bag of scrolls on the spare desk and she takes them.
...
*Creak*
"Kenzo, are you busy?" Kurenai-sensei pops her head in and asks.
"Oh, I can take an hour break- did you need something?" I reply.
"I just passed my new team this morning and wanted to introduce you three to them, let them know who you are and that if avaible you can help them" Kurenai-sensei tells me and I see Kanata wave at me through the crack in the door.
"Sure" I get up and close my report scrolls.
We walk through the halls of T&I and into the streets of Konoha, finding ourselves in a familiar shop... the barbeque pce Ryū likes.
We enter inside and find ourselves at a table with the three fresh genin.
A girl with short blue hair, Kiba and a kid in a jacket.
"Kiba, Shino, Hinata- these three are Kenzo, Kanata and Katsuko" Kurenai introduces us.
Akamaru hides in Kiba's clothes keeping a very intense gaze on me- forgot about that title, should I turn it off?
"Nice to meet you all" Kanata breaks the ice and greets them.
"Hn" Shino replies.
"Yo" Kiba nods his head upwards.
"G-Greetings" Hinata bows her head downwards.
"Well then, lets eat- and get to know each other, why don't you three go first?" Kurenai-sensei asks.
"I- I am Katsuko, I use kenjutsu and work in T&I under the internal investigation department" Kat introduces herself.
"Kanata- love music, Ninjutsu and getting up there with taijutsu too, internal investigations as well" Kanata gives some details.
"My name is Kenzo, I have a unique reputation and quite the odd kekkai genkai but I can assure you that I am better than rumour- I use genjutsu and taijutsu, I work for Internal investigations" I greet them.
"Psh- you practically run internal investigations when Ryū isn't around, he does double the workload because he is the only one who can read the reports that Ryū gets" Kanata brags about me.
"I am Shino Aburame- Insects are my forte" the jacket kid tells us.
"Kiba Inuzuka! This is Akamaru and we are the best genin around!" Kiba barks out a ugh.
"H-Hinata Hyuga, I use the B-Byakugan and taijutsu" she shyly greets us.
"As awkward as you Katsuko" Kanata ughs and pats her back to which she awkwardly smiles.
A few moments ter and having ordered our meals Shino turns to me.
"Kenzo correct? Do you carry some sort of repellent on you- my insects are trying to hide from you that is" Shino asks.
"Yeah, Akamaru says you smell odd too!" Kiba agrees and pats his dogs head.
"Oh, right... I don't know much about that honestly, my kekkai genkai makes me more monstrous in many ways- might be a new thing... maybe my natural odour smells bad to animals now?" I ponder fully knowing exactly why they don't like me.
To be fair I could just turn it off... but the difference between when Ryū was walking around without it and me with it is notable- half the insect 'stares' went down... meaning that having it on reduces the insect stalkers, no clue who it is but Danzo is getting the bme anyway.
Also I cant just take it back after having established myself with it multiple times- best to not make obvious faults in the Kenzo act as I can't support any investigations into me.
Basically to sum it up, I could take it away- but I wont or shouldn't.
"He is always changing stuff, show them" Kanata urges me.
I give myself much more pointier teeth and smile.
"Cool" Kiba says.
"No- something mind-blowing!" Kanata asks me.
"Alright... how about this?" I ask and produce a tail that forms a bone give at the end.
"Woah! That is amazing! Do a dog tail!" Kiba gets exited at my abilities and I comply to the best of my ability.
