Stunned by the events that had just occurred, it stared at him, relishing the nourishment coursing through its veins—an overwhelming sensation it could barely comprehend.
Yet, even as its body pulsed with newfound strength, the battle between survival and hunger raged within it.
It was forced to shelve the sensation, focusing instead on finishing off its fallen opponent.
Staggering forward, it set its sights on Kei’s right leg, where a crimson stream of blood flowed freely, painting the ground beneath him.
Licking its maw, the Fangcub trembled with glee—a ruby-red treasure, overflowing, offered so freely.
And yet… something felt wrong.
A deep unease settled in its chest, an instinctive warning it could not understand.

It laid down to reflect on the recent events, unconsciously lapping the blood on the ground.
Recounting its chance meeting with Kei, the human who had stood in the field, as if contemplating something important.
Having recently decided to go on a hunt for some food, it thought the human would make a good snack.
Adhering to its unserious and playful nature, the Fangcub growled, pretending to be scary, as if relishing a frightened reaction from the human.
As if to mock the wolf, the human stared toward it, as if it weren’t worth his attention.
Bite.
"Yelp!"
The human finally reacted, and it took pride in its moment of success. However, a sensation coursed through its body.
It felt like it was being nourished as a favored child of existence.
The cause? The weird human who had run away.
"Hehehehe," it playfully thought.
If it could talk, it would definitely praise itself, "I’m such a good boy. Of course, existence likes me."

The rest of the events then followed, leading to it now licking blood off the ground.
As it was lost in thought, its ears suddenly flinched.
Rustle.
Rustle.
Rustle.
"Grrrrrrrrrrr."
The cub suddenly got up. In front of it, a rather large rabbit with piercing red eyes and an unwelcoming presence stood.
Without having to look around, the cub already noted it was surrounded by other rabbits.
[Soldier Hare: Lvl 2]
As the overgrown bunnies took note of the situation, their attention was drawn to the ruby-red blood on the ground.
The Fangcub activated Howl of Resilience and Instinctive Evasion, quickly dispatching a hare.
Surprisingly, though, its attack landed on a hare further back, on the left.
Taking advantage of the momentary confusion among the enemies, it quickly moved and took out two more hares.

Making use of its newfound strength, it charged toward the final three hares.
Of the six hares that had arrived at the scene, three were quickly taken out.
The remaining three were prepared for the wolf and launched their attacks.
Although twice their level, the wolf was still suffering from partial blindness.
"Stupid human," it mumbled inwardly, briefly contemplating leaving Kei to suffer his fate.
However, strong urges fought against its common sense to leave and save itself.
One part didn’t want to abandon a treasure, the other was somewhat grateful for said treasure letting it live.
Taking note of its dwindling Aether as its buff skills remained active, it sought to end the remaining hares quickly.
A few claws here and there, a bite or two, and a few tail wags, and the Fangcub stood triumphant, as the remaining hares were quickly defeated.
Considering they were only level 2 oversized rabbits, the partially blinded wolf was, of course, successful. However, it did suffer a few strikes.
"To think that something so cute could throw such powerful kicks."
The cub whimpered as it lay down.
[HP: 6/40]
"Oi."
The cub's ears perked up.
"Hehehehe, to think you would actually protect me. I knew you liked me, Bitey."
"Grrrrrrrr."
"Oh, shut up."
As if to disrupt the quarrel between the two idiots, the System spoke.
[To help you adjust and acclimate to your new life and challenges, every participant will be granted an additional life.]
"A free life? Hey, mutt, you might as well take another bite out of me."
Happy to follow Kei’s wishes, the Fangcub used the last of its Aether to activate Lunging Rend. Rather than slashing, the cub focused the skill in its maw, aiming to bite off Kei’s head.
Ignoring the strange request and the guilt of actually carrying it out, the Fangcub relished its meal, once again focusing on the overwhelming sensation.
But as if to mock it, Kei’s headless body began reconstructing, Aether flooding his corpse, as if racing to have the honor of saying, "I helped bring him back to life."
"Ugghhhh, that wasn’t pleasant."
Staring at the wolf with disapproval, Kei scoffed.
"Can’t believe you actually did that. Shame on you."
The cub rolled its eyes, unbothered by the stupid human.
The System’s voice continued.
[Be sure to use it wisely, as death will be permane—]
[Player XXXX is the first player to have lost their additional life. Time of death post-message: 56 seconds.]
Kei, ignoring the System, briefly had a moment of awareness during his reconstruction.
He felt his body being rebuilt, and for a moment, he relished the sensation.
His unserious attitude took over, finding it far too interesting.
"You have achieved a hidden accomplishment, being the first to take your fate into your own hands and dictate your end. Please record your words that will be stored into the database for remembrance and glory."
"Hehehe, so that’s how it works. That really hurt, though. What is this screen asking me to do? Record my words? For what? Does this mean everyone can hear what I’m—”
[Player XXXX's words will be recorded into the database. For the accomplishment of being the first to use their additional life, Player XXXX has received a hidden title.]
[Player XXXX has received a hidden title.]
Kei smirked.
"Player XXXX? Weird… But is this reality a game of some sort?"
