Epicentrism woven by connectivity

"See, fighting this monster is pointless. I warned you..."

It was inevitable, after all. All living things eventually meet their end at one point or another. Fighting against our fated timely demise is only a farce idiots partake in.

This fly like creature is just one of those unfair obstacles life throws at you.

We can't beat it. To fight it is pointless.

  "..."

As, as much as my thoughts devolved into incessant despair, I had been proven completely wrong. The same man I thought dead, standing right in front of that creature, bleeding.

"Never underestimate an orc, you disguting insect!"

Why does he smile even though a single attack from that being damaged him this much?

Doesn't he see how pointless it is?

With his fierce determination in hand, he swung his axe diagonally, putting all the strength he could muster into the attack.

The hit was so potent that it destroyed the ground they were standing on, hitting the odds of the fly.

This guy was definitely a monster of nature, the mere fact he could still stand with wounds like these was impossible.

  ...

Seeing as Marth survived, Melissi and my clone assumed back their initial position.

"I think this one will work, Allison. I'm sorry to ask this of you but could you distract that monster while I prepare it?"

"Don't worry about it! Already on it!"

She didn't need to hear it twice, immediately rushing towards the monster with no hesitation in her heart.

  "Thank you, Allison!"

My other self used the air from disaster phenomena like tornados and tempest as a complement to her speed.

The speed boost she got from using the air made her reach new levels of speed.

A human cannot run that fast, regardless of how special they are, a human being stays a human being. If she continues to use that power recklessly, she'll hurt my body.

"What are you doing, other me?"

It was as if I could hear my own words bounced back at me. What the hell is this bck space in the first pce?

Is this the inside of my mind? Then why is it empty?

  "What do you mean, Allison?"

Regardless, this wasn't the right time for asking myself those questions.

"If you keep accelerating, you'll reach the limit of my body. I'm a human, after all."

Melissi joined her pinky and middle finger together on her right hand, forming a strange hand sign. On the left hand, she connected her pinky and index.

  "I wouldn't worry about that."

"Don't be stupid, this is my body in the first pce. You should listen to the owner, you damn clone."

  "You still don't get it?"

  "What do you mean?"

"I'm an alter ego. You are me and I am you. It doesn't get more simple than that, Allison."

  "..."

"I understand your worries and thoughts better than anyone, I'm your ego after all. I merely take the form of the deepest desires in your heart and mind."

  No...

  I refuse to believe it...

I stopped having hope a long time ago...

My thoughts couldn't help but devolve to my encounter with Li in the girls bathroom.

I wanted to but I couldn't deny it. The words she said to me at that time resonated with me.

"Who turns their back on someone trying to commit suicide, right?"

I don't know her that much but I could tell already at the time. She really is a kind girl who cares way too much about others.

She's the kind of person I hate, yet I am unable to feel hatred or malice towards her.

After all, as much I don't want to acknowledge it, I felt relief when she took those scissors away...

"You really are a softie at heart, Allison. You should realise I know this better than anyone."

  "Shut up."

"So rude. Regardless, you don't have to worry about your body. As apostle of disasters, we have innate resistance to the effects the phenomena we create could have on us."

"Huh? But we control disaster phenomena? Wouldn't that mean cyclones, tsunami and all of that doesn't affect us?"

"I wouldn't say that. In our case, it's only a partial resistance. This must be by design."

"You mean that big eye I saw that other time intentionally made us weaker?"

"Seems to be so. Anyway, don't disturb me anymore! I need to focus."

As she said this, it was as if time resumed back, the bck space showing me once again the current battlefield.

It felt like that conversation sted five minutes but I could tell it only sted one. Time seems to really flows in a peculiar way when I'm stuck in my own mind.

She finally reached the fly. She wasted no time, gathering the air she had used to get closer to it faster to make her next attack more potent.

The gust of wind took the form of a giant purple butterfly, it was if she fired a beam.

Even though that attack was meant to harm, it was quite beautiful.

  "[ Mariposa Ssh! ]"

In it's arrogance, the monster took the hit head on, choosing not to move out of the way.

I'm fairly certain those wings aren't just for decoration, so why isn't it flying out of the way.

"Preposterous, a mere disciple has no hope of besting the Lord's best."

It was unbelievable, I thought it was just speaking out of arrogance but here it was taking the attack head on, unfazed.

Despite its wings getting ripped apart by "my" attack, it continued to push against it. Using a wall of flies to try to push it back or dissipate it.

As it looked like it finally managed to do so, the creature started to cough up blood.

This must have been damage from the attack Marth nded on it. Even though he was colpsed on the floor right now, he was still being useful.

However, the monster was out of this world. It wasn't enough to put it down.

He brushed aside my ssh, buzzing sounds following in the process. Each one more ominous than the other.

  "Thank you, guys! I'm ready!"

Melissi started to chant, the atmosphere changing in the process.

Clouds gathered above her, along with a bell sound.

"Om Namah Shivaya Om Namah Shivaya Hara Hara Bhole Namah Shivaya

Rameshwara Shiva Rameshwara Hara Hara Bole Namah ShivayaGanga Dhara Shiva Ganga Dhara Hara Hara Bole Namah ShivayaJatadhara Shiva Jatadhara Hara Hara Bole Namah ShivayaSomeshwara Shiva Someshwara Hara Hara Bole Namah ShivayaVishweshvara Shiva Vishweshvara Hara Hara Bole Namah ShivayaKoteshwara Shiva Koteshwara Hara Hara Bole Namah ShivayaMahakaleshvara Hara Hara Bole Namah Shivaya"

What are those words? What is this nguage?

As soon as she pronounced them, she began to emit a blue aura with hints of golden.

She sounded even way more confident than usual, not stumbling upon her words a single time.

Recognising Melissi as dangerous, the monster immediately tried to go towards her.

Only to be stopped by my other self, standing in it's path to victory.

The creature didn't waste time, as it immediately tried to use that time stopping ability again.

  "Impossible!"

Were the words that buzzed into all of our minds, sending shivers down our spine.

It's myriad red eyes were now focused on Melissi, the tter still chanting, not even paying attention to what was happening around her.

It was like she was in some sort of trance.

"Move, Disciple. I will dispose of this woman first. She's dangerous."

Golden chains sprouted from the ground, entrapping the creature so fast it didn't have any time to react.

  "Be gone, fly of evil."

Melissi's eyes were as cold as ice, there was no pity in her heart for this demon.

  "[ Trishu. ]"

  Trishu?

  "Aaaahhhhhhhhh!"

The screams of pain of the monster resonated in all of our mind, making us all cover our ears.

The only one that didn't seem phased at all was Melissi, looking at it with complete disgust.

Just like that, the monster turned into dust, all the flies it used disappearing in the process.

This doesn't seem right. Rather, Melissi seems weird right now.

"Oh, I'm back in my body?"

I couldn't help but stare at her, confused and filled with questions.

  "W-What is it, Allison?"

There's a huge discrepancy between how she acted when she casted that and how she's acting now. There's something strange with that girl, I'm convinced of it.

"Ah, it must be that, right? Sorry, you had to see that. I just can't help it when I see demons like "this"."
