Realm of Dreams

I am adrift again in the sea of dreams, floating upon water, without a sense of direction. Above me there is darkness speckled with starlight. The waves from the water gently push me back and forth, there is peace here, not like I normally have. I feel myself being pulled towards something slowly, something that feels good, a warmth in the waters where it takes me. There are no dead here as there normally are. It is empty, peacefully so.
The swells of the waves begin to increase as I get closer to where it brings me. In the water now I see purple lights in the depths beginning to rise. Speckles of silver glittering against the darkness. My body feels pushed back and forth more firmly, as though there is a change. Cold waters mixing with hot.
There is a rumbling of noise above as clouds begin to form blocking the light of the stars. Lightning arcs and thunder roars. Is it Krotha… no, this is something else, the lightning comes in streaks of silver, not crimson like hers. Ground rises from the depths of the water, I climb onto it, finding my footing upon it. It is a mix of black dirt and rock, unlike the mountain that Krotha shaped on the island. My eyes look around, I see her great mountain in the distance, shrouded in thick clouds that begin to smother it from view.
Lightning strikes the center of the land that I am upon, I feel drawn towards a small flickering light that is left in its wake. I should be afraid, but I am not. The lightning strikes again and again, always in the same spot that I move toward. From the area where the lightning strikes, I see something silver growing from the ground now, slowly rising upwards. A plant of some kind.
The storm begins to rage more as the silver plant rises further. The clouds part in the center and a blinding light radiates downwards. The plant grows faster now, spreading its roots outwards. I am in the eye of the storm, waves rising high into the air. The light calls to me. It reminds me of the warmth that Amara’s words gave me.
Alakin Dom Jukora
Something inside tells me to be calm, it soothes against the fear, telling me to embrace it. The purple lights pull into the ground as the swells of the sea around me crash against it. It flows upwards towards the roots, the plant taking shape now into a tree, sprouting its first leaves. Silver laced with purple. I feel my face, there are tears running down it. I do not shy from them, as I have never seen such a sight, it inspires my heart. The sheer beauty of it flowing into me.
The sea begins to settle, the clouds and the light retracting. The tree slows its growth upwards, until it comes to rest, the height of it barely above my own. I feel a pull beginning to take me again as the water becomes placid once more. The pull calls me to the realm of reality, and I do not resist it.

My body is unevenly warm and cold. Sweat building between me and something firm yet soft. A familiar sensation, like two bodies entwined. My eyes drag open, I see Luna’s arm wrapped around my bare chest, enveloping us is some kind of fabric held up by thin extended ribs of metal. I have seen it on the diagrams before, in the abandoned city, where the old inner clans dwelled, it is a piece of therm equipment she spoke of. A place to take refuge and gather warmth. The fabric glimmers in the low light. I try to turn, but Luna grows stiff, pressing herself closer against me.
“Please… don’t turn around,” she pleads, there is a tone in her voice I can’t quite place without seeing her face, almost like she is embarrassed.
When she shifts her body, I understand why, I feel her naked frame against mine, a distracting sensation pulling over me for a moment, she is still shy to be nude in front of people. The uneven warmth now makes sense, her body wraps mine from behind, giving me plentiful heat where our skin collides. A bead of fresh sweat rolls down my neck, my heart beating a little faster now, she shifts somehow closer as the sweat strikes her skin, not letting me go. Her grip is firm and… welcome.
My head is still a little dazed from whatever happened, my stomach feels the empty call of hungers embrace, “Did you manage to send the beacon?”
“I did,” she responds softly, her breath brushing my ear, heat flooding my chest.
“How long was I out?”
“Less than a day,” she replies, gripping tighter, but not so tight that it hurts, “You were hot and then so cold that I feared… I feared that if I didn’t… didn’t do this…”
“Thank you,” I say, ending her fluster, “Did you see anything from the mountain top?”
She shakes her head, bringing it closer to rest on my shoulder, her body is like a furnace that I do not shy from. Her face now rests partially against mine as she traces her hand into mine. Her breath becoming unsteady as her legs shift to wrap mine more tightly.
“I didn’t,” she says, so close to my ear that it pulls my focus towards thoughts I shouldn’t have for her, “How are you feeling?”
Her fingers play along mine, before entwining them. I turn my gaze toward her face, her eyes finding mine, there is a look in it that I have rarely seen from her before, and never this intense… a look of wanting. Her eyes hover back and forth between my lips and my eyes. I begin to turn the rest of my body toward her now, she tenses for a moment so I stop. The tenseness does not last long though, I feel her pulling me to turn now. Inviting me to face her.
She pulls her body deep into me, pressing her chest into mine, placing her leg between mine again. Her eyes dance in mine, words not daring to fall from either of our lips. Her breath is quick and shallow, her eyes hovering down to my lips again, as though asking permission to take them. I feel myself moving closer to her, my own eyes lowering back and forth on her lips. A mere breath from each other like a pair of binary stars locked in an unstable orbit, gravity collapsing around us as we hopelessly try to fight it. All the time we've spent together, all of the stolen glances and wanting, all of it overwhelming now in these moments.
“We shouldn’t…” she whispers, yet her eyes tell me that we should.
“Kar Juk Adan Nashar Shul,” I say softly.
“Speak it,” she says, biting her bottom lip softly before she runs her tongue gently across it.
“Life is but a dream that comes before the darkness.”
“I don’t understand,” she says, coming closer, the wanting in her eyes becoming feverish.
“Enjoy life while you have it,” I say, feeling the words myself now, for too long I have wallowed in what I cannot control… for once, I just want to be free of all that holds me down.
Her hand releases mine, gliding up my body until she grasps my face… gravity finally rupturing as she pulls me into her lips.

Steam rises and sweat falls as we slow, my eyes looking down into hers, a feeling bubbling in my chest. She searches me with the same. Neither of us speak, we simply stare into the oblivion of each other’s eyes. The knowledge of what we felt finally catching up.
Vek.
Her mouth quivers as though she wants to speak, to say something, her eyes move back and forth in mine. Both of us vulnerable to the other in these moments with nothing hidden for the first time.
“I…” she begins, but the words trap in her throat.
She’s about to finish her thought, when something disrupts the flow of Maka around us so violently that both of us turn to face it. A presence looming far above, descending toward us rapidly. Luna tears the fabric of the therm equipment, scrambling toward her clothes, her hand almost to her blade of light’s hilt when the ceiling of the ice cave shatters in the center, the ground cracking and quaking with a plume of shaved ice and snow. It blasts me backward, sliding across the frigid ice.
The shape of a person rises from the impact slowly, intentionally. My heart thrashes in my chest as I move to block whoever it is from Luna. The first thing I see are large metal boots painted deep black, purple accenting with silver in the design. Vek. I can feel the Maka coming from them, like a torrential storm.
