"[My Lor——]" Hunter’s voice crackled in my mind, but it was already too late.
A shriek of raw insanity burst from deep inside me, drowning out everything else. A violent chorus of hunger, madness, and bloodlust.
[Warning! 20 seconds have passed, you have reached the maximum cap of madness.]
[Devolution will start to progress: 3% monsterization.]
My arms exploded into writhing masses of black muscle and Void strands, the black scales crawling up my body like a plague. The monstrous furry tail lashed behind me. My black-plated mask melted into my face, like it was never separate to begin with.
I was starting to devolve —
—and I liked it.
My thoughts fractured like broken glass.
Hunter’s words became slurred nonsense in my head, distant echoes drowned out by the roaring sea of instinct.
All that remained was the urge to kill.
"Huaaahhhh..."
Black fumes hissed from between my fangs.
The moment the King so much as twitched — I disappeared.
Collision.
A geyser of darkness and blood erupted.
I smashed my monstrous left arm into his ribs with a bone-shattering impact — my bones, knocking him staggering backward — the first time anyone had managed it.
[Critical Hit! 150 Damage Dealt!]
"How?!" The King snarled, staring down at his bleeding side like it had betrayed him. "My defense should be unbreakable!"
He retaliated instantly, claws flashing.
"You mutt!" he roared, full royal indignation.
We clashed again — two storms in a bottle.
Feral claws shrieked against void-forged gauntlets. Fangs snapped against cursed flesh. Blood splattered in black arcs across the battlefield.
Eight seconds into the melee.
Another [Rex Luporum] phantom slash carved the air.
I twisted my body, barely slipping aside — yet a brutal gash still tore through my shoulder.
[You received 200 HP True Damage]
[Ting!]
[Trait activated: Ungodly]
[You received 110 Damage]
My health dipped below 220, hanging by a thread — but at this point, my body and mind had thrown the concept of self-preservation right into the trash.
BOOM!
Another hit.
[You received 150 HP damage]
[Warning! 20 seconds have passed, you have reached the maximum cap of madness.]
[Devolution will start to progress: 15% monsterization.]
And then —
The 15-second debuff finally wore off.
I felt my full stats roar back like a freight train, flooding my body with monstrous strength. I lurched forward with bloodthirsty glee, more feral than ever.
Meanwhile, the other me —
The mighty King —
was beginning to suffer the backlash of his [King's Behest].
His once-majestic form bled misty black ichor from the corners of his eyes and mouth, dripping onto the cracked stone like curses.
"You idiot," he coughed hoarsely, wiping blood off his muzzle. "You're just like me. A broken toy waiting to be thrown away."
Without bothering to move his arm —
Another salvo of void slashes screamed across the field.
My body couldn't dodge.
The phantom blades ripped me apart, slicing my body cleanly in half like a butcher carving meat.
THUD.
My two halves hit the ground with a sick, wet slap.
My mind barely registered it.
No pain. No fear.
Just a cold, endless hunger.
"Ahhh... I screwed up."
That was the last coherent thought buzzing in my busted brain.
"[My Lord! Hang tight! I'll—]"
"Who's yelling again...?"
"Ah, right. Hunter."
"Sorry, buddy."
"Looks like this overcooked meat sack of mine couldn't handle the bill."
"I just want to sleep."
"Maybe... forever."
My mind sank into the abyss like a stone tossed into a bottomless well.
The light in my eyes fizzled out like a cheap candle in the rain. My transformation crumbled instantly, leaving behind a half-human, half-abomination carcass sprawled on the freezing floor.
Blood painted the ground in lazy rivulets, while my left arm—still monsterized—twitched uselessly, as if refusing to admit we were dead.
But yeah.
It was game over.
[Ting!]

[...]
Somewhere in the Void...
"Do you give up?"
"Ready to quit?"
"Life’s a bust anyway."
"Come on, just let it go."
"Hand over that nice warm corpse, won't ya?"
The Void’s silence was shattered by an obnoxious, screeching voice that stomped all over my nice, peaceful death nap.
Groaning, I lifted my head from the cold darkness, glaring at the source of the disturbance.
"The hell...? Oh, it's you again."
I stared blankly at the black mirror, where that stupid giant serpentine eye glared back at me like an overcaffeinated insurance agent.
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
"What do you want this time? Can't you see I'm trying to die in peace?"
The being recoiled slightly, as if personally offended.
"You brain-dead moron, you're already dead! Your soul's halfway out the door! If you’re giving up, just hand over that broken meat puppet already!"
Its slitted eye even curled like it was smirking.
"Tch. Why would I hand my body over to someone who can’t even afford a personality?"
"You don’t need it anymore, genius! You couldn't even beat that mutt! You're dead weight now!" the eye snapped, voice rising like an angry customer denied a refund.
I shrugged nonchalantly. "Maybe I'll just stay dead then. Saves us both the trouble."
"Youuuu—! CURSE YOU!"
Fed up, its eye flared a bright furious red.
"Fine!" it barked. "Since you’re my last sorry champion... for once, I’ll lend you a little of my power. Get up. Kill that overgrown puppy. I’ve got beef with him too."
I cracked a grin, dead-eyed but amused.
"Now that's more like it."
Back in reality...

Suddenly, a tsunami of energy from the Void burst out of nowhere, black tendrils erupting from the air itself. They stitched my torn-up corpse together like some nightmarish seamstress having a bad day.

+10,000% primary stat bonus

A furious maelstrom of black clouds swallowed my body whole, forming a swirling cocoon of Void.
The very air distorted with pressure.
Inside, my broken frame huddled, drinking in the raw, primal energy like a dying man gulping down water in the desert.
The other Jin—the mighty King Aberrant—caught sight of it and visibly twitched, déjà vu flashing through his monstrous eyes.
Without hesitation, he unleashed another [Rex Luporum], trying to end it before it bloomed.
But the Void Cocoon didn't even flinch.
"YouuuuUUUU!" The desperate King howled in growing frustration.
BOOOOM!
The cocoon ruptured, and a titanic shockwave detonated outward—flinging debris like toys and forcing even the monstrous King to skid backward.
From the epicenter, something crawled out.
Something ancient.
Something pissed off.
I feel myself lift off the ground, weightless, a puppet of divinity and wrath.
My skin pales to a ghostly white, every inch of me aglow with an otherworldly shimmer.
Strands of silver-white hair spill from my scalp, cascading down my spine, brushing my heels like a funeral shroud woven from stars.
Pain lances through my skull — and then the horns burst free. Black, jagged, coiling a foot into the air, marking me as something no longer human.
My vision sharpens, warps — the world burns red through my new serpentine eyes, and when I bare my teeth, my canines gleam long and cruel, meant for ripping, meant for ending.
My arms crack and twist, the flesh giving way to jaded dragon scales, ancient and unbreakable. My fingers split and stretch into talons, each one a perfect weapon sculpted from chaos itself.
My chest tightens, muscles locking into place like sculpted stone — a jadeborn war god’s armor fused to bone and blood.
Around my waist, the weight of an arming skirt drags against me — forged from dragon bones and scaled relics, clinking with every breath I take.
Below, my legs warp, feet contorting into the brutal limbs of a dragon, built for battle, built for ruin.
And then — the tail.
It tears free from my lower spine with a sickening snap, a wicked, spiked appendage lashing the air behind me, hungry, alive.
I am no longer a man.
No longer prey.
A Celestial of Death.
The Leviathan.
The Sovereign Ruler of the Void Sea.
I am the storm that is approaaaaaching () — the ruin, the nightmare they will never outrun.
"So... that crazy bitch slipped you a little gift, huh?" The King snickered, his bloodshot eyes gleaming with malice. "Tell me — who am I speaking to now? Jin... or that slimy parasite, Lotan?"

A [Rex Luporum] — spectral phantom slashes of rage and moonlight — cannonballed straight into my face.
BOOM!
The hit barely tickled.
My health bar shrugged it off, registering a pathetic 40 damage due to my Damage Reduction now at peak.
I didn't even wobble.
I grinned, teeth glinting like daggers.
"And here I thought I'd be picking my brains off the ground," I joked, tapping my head as if to check it was still attached.
In my veins, madness simmered and hissed, eager to spill.
Hunter, poor soul, twitched violently when he caught a glimpse of my new, barely-human form.
"[MY LORD!]" Hunter yelped, like it just witnessed the birth of the Devil itself.
"[Relax, buddy, still me.]" I winked at my fist with a feral smile. "[Good news is — we're about to win this.]"
I didn’t wait for a response. Laughing like a lunatic set loose from a madhouse, I hurled myself into the fray.
Thirty seconds left.
Thirty seconds before my soul burned away like tissue paper.
Hunter screamed behind me:
"[LET'S FREAKING GO!!!!!!]"
Good enough for me.
[Void Cloak] — Full Release!
The world shattered — light twisted, colors bled, and time itself looked confused, like it missed a step and faceplanted.
I became a black smear against the fractured battlefield, slipping through cracks in existence too fast for any mortal (or even immortal) eye to catch.
One heartbeat later, I stood behind the dumbstruck King, his nose still sniffing where I used to be.
Without hesitation, I sank my claws deep into his spine.
CRUNCH!
The sensation was hideously satisfying — like plunging your hands into a watermelon that screamed back.
The King howled, an ear-splitting, soul-curdling shriek that made even the dead want earplugs. He jerked wildly, flinging me away like a deranged rodeo bull —
— but not before I yanked out a jagged, steaming chunk of his lower vertebrae as a souvenir.
The King staggered, dripping thick, dark blood that smelled like molten iron and wet fur.
[Massive Bleeding - 100 HP loss/sec]
The Final Clash.
Gasping and furious, the King summoned one last [Rex Luporum], a desperate roar tearing at the sky.
I laughed in its face and sprinted straight through it, letting the phantom slashes rake across my exposed ribs.
The blows felt like... mosquito bites. Annoying, but hardly enough to distract from the main event.
The King made a last, desperate swipe — claws slashing with all the strength he had left.
But by then, I was already past him.
In one savage thrust, I buried my fist in his chest cavity, fingers cracking bone and shredding flesh.
Crack.
Rip.
Shatter.
The King staggered back, clutching his ruined chest, blood bubbling from his lips.
"So... you've done what I couldn't..." he rasped, a ragged chuckle escaping before his massive form crumpled like a puppet with its strings cut.
Spiritualization ended.
Fifteen seconds left.
Half my soul — gone, frayed like burnt cloth.
Luckily.
M right arm still held my secondary soul like a portable backup drive. My heart-core remained untouched. Hunter once said I could rebuild what I lost by eating enough monster cores — like rebuilding your GPA after flunking a semester. Messy, but doable.
I stood there, panting, gore dripping from every inch of me. The King's mangled corpse twitched once, then lay still.
Hunter, ever the opportunist, was already halfway through gnawing on the shredded wolf heart, slurping it down like a dog with a stolen steak.

I eyed the glowing soul core of [Unicornus] in my hand, feeling its eerie pulse thrum against my palm.
"Perfect," I muttered. "Time to make myself a pet... or a ticking time bomb."
Opening [Void Animancy], I watched the reddish, angular menu flicker into existence before me.

I paused, my thumb hovering over the ‘Proceed’ button. Was I about to ruin my life or level it up?
...Screw it.
"Proceed." I barked.
Immediately, the world exploded.
A blinding pillar of light shot up from the ritual circle, so bright it seared the sky and scorched the ground beneath it.
The very air rippled with the scent of burning stone and the metallic tang of raw magic. I had to shield my eyes with my arm, my vision going white for a solid ten seconds.
When the world finally stopped sizzling, I blinked furiously, my sight slowly piecing itself back together.
And there, lying in the middle of the smoking summoning circle, was... a miracle.
A tiny dark-furred wolf pup, no bigger than a loaf of bread, curled tightly into itself like a newborn.
A slender, proud tiny unicorn horn crowned its forehead, shimmering faintly under the ruined moonlight.
[Ting!]
[You can only name the creature once.]
"Name, huh..." I murmured, scratching the back of my head.
"[How about Killer, my Lord? You know... Killer and Hunter, what a great pair!]" Hunter quipped gleefully, wriggling his black tendrils in excitement on my left arm.
I snorted. "Yeah, nothing says 'mental stability' like naming your kids Killer and Hunter."
I thought for a moment longer, feeling something odd stir in my gut — a spark, a tether.
"I've decided," I said, and with a mischievous grin, I declared...

"[Oooooof!]" Hunter howled in laughter, rolling like a fat worm across my arm.
I stared blankly at the floating text above the pup’s head.
"...F*ck. She's a girl."
My soul crumbled a little inside, but it was too late — the system had branded the name into her very existence.
I opened [Void Rend] with a heavy sigh, the familiar swirling black portal tearing into the fabric of the world again.
An ominous coldness poured from the rift, licking across the battlefield like threads of night.
I looked over at the snoring pup.
She was fast asleep, completely unbothered by the apocalyptic vibes around her.
The chubby wolf cub lay curled on the cold stone, her thick, rough fur steaming faintly in the chill.
Her small body rose and fell with slow, steady breaths.
One muddy streak marred her cheek — a battle scar from bravely face-planting during her grand entrance into existence.
The craggy floor did little to disturb her peace; she nestled deeper into herself, her stubby tail twitching once.
Despite the weight of this brutal, ancient world, she looked almost... comically out of place.
A little ball of stubborn innocence cradled in the jaws of the Void.
"David, come here." I called gently.
Her ears twitched at the sound of her name.
Slowly, she lifted her sleepy head, revealing a pair of lazy, gleaming golden eyes that shimmered like twin moons.
"Arf! Arf!" she yipped, stumbling to her paws with a wagging tail, and charged toward me with all the grace of a drunk squirrel.
And so, side-by-side with a puppy that could one day end worlds. Hunter and I plunged once again into the dark unknown.
Carrying the burden of Madness.
