Chapter Seven – The God of Giants

Chapter Seven – The God of Giants

  Narrated by Natasha Petrova

I woke up in my room at five in the morning.

I went to the bathroom, took a shower, then headed to the kitchen to prepare my breakfast.

It was a calm day, so I took my coffee and walked out to the balcony.

I was watching the sunrise from my balcony, holding my cup of coffee. It was a beautiful sight.

The atmosphere was peaceful, until I heard someone climbing up to my balcony. But before I could reach for my gun, Jason grabbed my hand and said,

  "No need to waste bullets."

I smacked him with the coffee mug and said,

"Don’t ruin this moment, you damn killjoy."

He pulled out a napkin and began cleaning his face, then said,

"Good thing I don’t have any hair... other than my mustache."

I walked into the kitchen and asked,

  "What do you want?"

He smiled at me and sat on a kitchen chair, then said,

"Well, we’ve got a special mission."

I lit a cigarette and told him,

"Get out. I’ll meet you at HQ."

Jason left a pack of cigarettes on the table, opened a portal to leave, but I stopped him and asked,

"Why didn’t you just come here using a portal?"

  He laughed and said,

"That wouldn’t be as fun. Climbing the balcony is way more entertaining."

Then he stepped into the portal and disappeared.

I took the pack of cigarettes, stuffed it into my jacket, then went to wake the girls up so we could prepare for the mission.

The two girls lived with me since their houses were too far out in the countryside. I had a big house to myself anyway, so it wasn’t a problem.

I entered their room and fired a shot at the ceiling. The ceiling was bulletproof, so I considered it safe.

They woke up, and we all got ready and left the house.

I was the one driving the car.

The girls started talking, but I wasn’t paying attention—I was focused on the road, like any responsible driver.

Still, curiosity got the better of me, so I switched the car to autopilot and walked into the main cabin to listen in.

As I entered, Elena looked at me and smiled,

"Did you switch to autopilot, or are you planning to crash the car?"

I sat in front of them and said,

"Relax. I turned on the autopilot."

They continued chatting, and I listened quietly, expecting something important... but they were talking about games, music, weapons, and boys.

I looked at them and said,

"I came here expecting something deep... and you disappointed me."

Then Elena pulled out three revolvers and asked,

  "Which one will you pick?"

All three were 9mm caliber, so I chose the golden one.

Elena picked the silver one, and Maria took the black one.

Elena handed each of us a single bullet and said,

  "Let’s play Russian roulette."

I agreed to play, because I’m an idiot.

We played about seven rounds. When it was my turn, I pulled the trigger and heard the shot.

  I fell to the floor.

Oddly enough—I wasn’t dead. Lucky me.

I woke up again inside the team’s armored vehicle. Well... technically, they had stolen the vehicle.

I was asleep, with my head resting on Jason’s thigh.

There was no bandage on my head.

I looked at Jason and asked,

"Why isn’t there a bandage on my head?"

  He smiled and said,

"Joseph treated your wound with electricity."

If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

Which meant... he cauterized it shut.

I closed my eyes again and told him,

  "Wake me when we arrive."

Jason woke me up later and said,

  "We’re here."

I grabbed my weapons from the car, got out, and we began our approach into the city.

The city was completely empty and quiet.

The buildings were massive and luxurious, but not a soul was around.

Then we began to hear the sound of a giant walking.

The giant was so enormous he rose above the clouds.

I couldn’t see what was above, but Nikolai could, and said,

"There’s a girl on top of the giant... she’s radiating powerful energy. Might be a god—or at least a demigod."

Joseph jumped up using lightning to reach the top of the giant.

We saw the girl fall from the top, but she created an ice hand to catch herself.

That’s when we knew... she was a blood of a god.

A silver hair girl wearing an all white dress.

  I looked at Dwayne.

  He looked horrified.

  I slapped him and asked,

  "What’s wrong?"

He looked into my eyes and said,

  "That’s not a giant... I can’t control it."

  That’s when I realized...

We might be walking into a losing battle.

I ordered Elena, Stalin, and Maria to leave and go search for the rescue team that was sent here. That was our mission—to find and save them.

Jason, Joseph, and Nikolai kept the giant distracted, while Dwayne searched for any monsters or demons he could control.

We were so far for any demons he kept under control to hear his mind.

It was just me and the girl now.

  Six o’clock in the evening.

I drew my weapons and asked,

  "What’s your name, warrior?"

The girl ignored me and rushed toward me.

I fired my gun at her, but the bullets froze and shattered the moment they touched her skin.

So I drew a cursed sword and began fighting her.

It was a good duel—I couldn’t land a single stab.

She kept using ice to distract me or try to cut me in half.

She raised ice spears from the ground, but then the earth began to tremble.

The giant sank into a massive pit in the ground... taking the boys with him.

The girl took advantage of the distraction and punched me with an ice fist, sending me crashing through the walls of four houses.

  I was broken.

  I had one option left—transform.

I ran toward her and began to transform into a demon.

I turned into a red demon.

My face and body were covered in war tattoos, even over the armor.

I stepped out of the rubble and said,

  "Hey, like my new look?"

She looked at me and shouted,

"You bitch... you made a pact with a demon!"

I summoned two fiery scythes and screamed,

  "Damn right I did!"

I charged at her, but I didn’t attack.

I threw my weapons aside and slowly walked toward her, a smile on my face.

  Fear crept over her face—

It was the most beautiful expression I’d ever seen.

A silver-haired girl... terrified she might leave this world.

With every step I took forward, she took one back.

She swung her icy blades frantically, trying to cut me.

  It was beautiful.

  Her blades began to crack.

  She started to panic.

  Her swords shattered—

  She stopped backing away.

  I grabbed her head...

  And headbutted her.

  Again.

And again—until her skull cracked and I could see her brain.

Then I let her fall to the ground.

My body was covered in scars, but she couldn’t even pierce my thick skin.

I lit a cigarette and thought to myself,

"Should’ve shoved my horn through her eyes first."

  Six thirty in the evening.
