Today I found out that the spirits couldn’t help in harvesting my nuts on the field. They could help with reorganizing my nuts after they were harvested or with replanting the six hundred patches, but they couldn’t help with uprooting the nuts from the ground. Perhaps because they knew by instinct that uprooting the nuts at this point technically killing their young, but since they couldn’t talk, I couldn’t get their detailed reasoning. I mean, they tried to gesture when I questioned them, but since their gesturing was hard to understand and they couldn’t understand complex human-specific terms like “soul” or “species” in the first place, I had to take what I could get.
Talking about having to take what I could get, I found a couple of eggs in the far corner of the field. They had probably rolled down from the surface through one of the air holes, but by the time I found them, they were already in the middle of hatching.

From behind the eggshells and the thin veil of egg liquid, two yellow chickenettes emerged into the world. It was such a beatiful scene, I named them “Emergency Meat I” and “Emergency Meat II.”
As a mage, I never learned how to take care of a chickenette before, let alone two chickenettes. The moment they cried asking for food, panic set in as I had no idea what to feed them. I tried to feed them leftover slime noodles, raw cherry tomatoes, boiled nuts, even bits of Kanalele meat, but they either ignored it or looked utterly confused. But fortunately, once I tried feeding them a worm that one of the blue spirits found in the field, they ate it with no problem. It took me the whole day to figure that out, but I suppose it’s fine since taking care of children is supposed to be hard.
Today’s menu.
Breakfast: A bowl of eternal soup 3.2.
Lunch: A bowl of eternal soup 3.2 + a cup of cherry tomato juice.
Dinner: A bowl of eternal soup 3.2.
