“Hurry up and search! If you don’t find the beastkin priestess, you’re all finished!” The President of the United States waved his hand urgently, issuing orders to all nearby personnel.
The workers, visibly nervous, quickly set aside their tasks. After shouting a resolute “Understood!” they scattered in all directions, combing through every corner of the UN building.
Seeing this, Lian nodded slightly in relief. While human combat ability left much to be desired, their efficiency in situations like this was commendable.
Meanwhile, Ye Lan strolled aimlessly along the smaller paths within the UN premises. Although she wore the flying carpet as a makeshift cloak to cover herself, this pce had an extremely advanced security system. Only authorized personnel could enter, leaving no room for intruders such as thieves or suspicious individuals.
As a result, passersby occasionally gnced at her but otherwise paid her no mind.
"So, this is the UN building. It’s smaller than I expected, but it does look quite technologically advanced. I wonder what interesting things I’ll find here~" she murmured softly as she approached the door to a room.
From within came soft, continuous tapping sounds. The soundproofing was excellent, but the hearing of a beastkin far surpassed human standards. Not even the most secure vault could fully block out the sounds reaching Ye Lan’s ears.
"Hmm? These sounds are a bit odd. They’re very faint but steady. It seems there are two people inside… one male voice and one female… Oh? It’s already gone quiet?" she murmured, tilting her head in confusion.
She heard firm, heavy footsteps coming from inside the room. With a ‘click’ the door opened, and a man stepped out.
His skin was pale, and his hair had a faint golden hue. There was something about his appearance that felt strangely familiar to Ye Lan. Though she was certain she had never seen this man before, it was as if he resembled someone she had encountered in the past.
The man’s gaze fell on Ye Lan, still standing outside the door, and clear disdain flickered in his eyes.
"Where did this brat come from? Is she the daughter of some employee? Doesn’t she know this is the UN building, the highest-level pce for humans? Get out of my sight immediately!" he snapped, even raising his foot as if to kick her.
Thankfully, Ye Lan reacted swiftly, stepping back just in time to avoid the strike.
At that moment, a woman with disheveled clothing emerged from the room and leaned flirtatiously against the man.
"Young Master Chuan~ About my promotion… will you still make good on your promise?" she asked in a syrupy, seductive tone.
The man’s expression instantly softened, and a sly smile spread across his face.
"Of course! How could I lie to you? You’re my woman now. How could I possibly go back on my word?" he said smoothly, holding her chin with one hand.
The two became so absorbed in their sickening dispy of affection that Ye Lan could hardly contain her disgust.
In a pce as prestigious as the UN headquarters, how could such btant corruption exist? Her ideals about this supposedly sacred institution were utterly shattered.
"Hey! You almost kicked me earlier. Apologize right now!" Ye Lan demanded, pcing her hands on her hips, puffing out her cheeks, and adopting a stern expression.
The man gnced at her with indifference before turning his attention back to the woman clinging to his arm.
"Darling~ Who is this brat?" the woman asked curiously, casting Ye Lan a dismissive gnce.
"Probably some employee’s kid. What a nuisance. Don’t they know we’re in a critical period? The elves are about to arrive, and they’re letting some annoying child roam around here? If she angers the elves by accident, who’s going to take responsibility?" the man replied disdainfully, his gre shifting back to Ye Lan. Slowly, he raised a hand.
"A level 10 kid... there shouldn’t be any harm in teaching her a little lesson in pce of her parents, right?" he said arrogantly, tilting his head with a smug expression.
A small, floating magic circle materialized in his hand. Ye Lan remained still, observing the magic circle with a slight smile, as though she found it entertaining.
"Not going to run? What a foolish child~" the man sneered.
"Run? Why would I? Do you honestly think your magic can hurt me?" Ye Lan replied calmly, blinking with an unconcerned expression.
The man was a level 23 human with attack power that, at best, didn’t exceed 500 points. Meanwhile, Ye Lan, at level 10 and equipped with the [Phantom Star Set], had a defense exceeding 1,000 points. In other words... even if she stood perfectly still and let him attack, he could strike her for an eternity without causing any harm.
However, she wasn’t going to just stand there and let him hit her. If this human truly dared to use magic against her, Ye Lan wouldn’t hesitate to make him experience the thrill of teetering on the brink of death.
With one hand behind her back, scorching vapor began to swirl around her palm. The man, oblivious to this, remained unaware of the danger.
"Girl, you brought this on yourself! Don’t bme me!" he shouted cruelly, releasing the magic he had accumuted in his hand.
At that exact moment, a bright green arrow shot out from a distance, striking the man directly in the hand.
"My hand! My hand!" the man screamed in pain, staring in horror at his injured palm. The HP bar above his head instantly plummeted to less than half.
Lian and Rin appeared beside Ye Lan in an instant, both wielding bows and wearing expressions of intense anger.
"You dared to raise your hand against the Honorable Priestess? How audacious of you! If the beastkin had witnessed this, they wouldn’t have been as lenient as we elves, who only struck you with an arrow as a warning" Lian said sharply, gring at the man with cold fury.
The man looked up, his terror multiplying as he recognized his attackers were elves. Panic spread across his face.
"Why… noble elves? I believe I’ve done nothing to offend you…" he stammered through clenched teeth, his voice trembling.
Without hesitation, Rin stepped forward and spped him across the face.
"Do you know who you just tried to attack? She’s the Priestess of the beastkin race! In the beastkin Kingdom, her position is second only to the King. With your insignificant level 20, do you think you’re even worthy of facing the Honorable Priestess?" Rin said sternly.
At that moment, Ye Lan stopped hiding. She had initially covered her ears to avoid trouble, but she had still ended up in this situation.
Ye Lan’s furry ears atop her head twitched slightly, and the man’s face froze immediately. It turned out she was a beastkin girl...
The other leaders finally arrived, rushing over. The President of the United States looked at the man with a dark expression.
"Son." "Father!" "Kneel!"
The U.S. President raised his hand and delivered a harsh sp to the man’s face. Meanwhile, the Chinese leader quickly bowed respectfully to Ye Lan and the others.
"We deeply apologize. Due to our negligence, we almost caused harm to the Honorable Priestess" he said.
"It doesn’t matter. After all, he’s just an insignificant level 20. Even if he had attacked me, I wouldn’t have lost a single HP point" Ye Lan said casually, waving her hand to show there was no problem.
The leaders let out a sigh of relief, but just because Ye Lan didn’t want to make a fuss didn’t mean Lian felt the same way.
"I believe it will be necessary to adjust the terms of our negotiations a bit after this~" Lian said, a cold smile forming on her face.
The hearts of the world leaders skipped a beat, and they all swallowed nervously.
“This time, the fault is ours, so... please, go ahead” the Chinese leader responded promptly, without much hesitation.
Lian raised two fingers and, with a calm smile, said "Straight to the point! The proportion of original metal minerals you will provide us will increase from 10% to 20%"
