8 Sidetracked

It was a common trope in fiction, characters with special or magical eyes. Eyes that could see into the future, eyes that let you see through things from walls, cards, and clothes. A bloodline of magic eye users who all share the same ancestor. As my mind drifted to thoughts of eyes and stories they inhabit, there was really only one pce for my anime-addled brain to go, Dojutsu. A literal transtion as 'Eye Techniques', they were common across the media. The obvious train of thought from here was the Three Great Dojutsu from Naruto. The Byakugan, Sharingan, Rinnegan. If I’m thinking about magic eyes it's going to be these three. The Byakugan alone would be substantial compared to a normal person. Even if it is the weakest of the three. Having near 360-degree vision might be annoying. Maybe I could find a way to combine them? Making some form of super-eye?

As I gave it more thought, it was quite pointless right now. (Would the other two break my no god items rule?) Anyway, I currently ck Ki and they ran on a different energy entirely—namely Chakra. Then there’s also the question of magic. Would I also need mana? How many other energies... These were issues to be addressed in the future.

I couldn't help myself and ended up browsing the wiki. I did remember things like the God Tree and its fruit, Kaguya, and the Ten Tails. Although I didn't understand everything due to considerable retconning and not paying attention to the sequel series. I did find that the God/Chakra Fruit had two depictions, the first looked like a small ball of light, while the other looked like a peach-shaped pink cabbage. I couldn’t find anything but online specution about what would happen if a regur person ate one. It mostly boiled down to, “If a normal person ate one they would explode”.

“I could get Chakra, but I could also explode. Is this one of those needing to be strong enough to survive things?” Nothing was stopping me from eating it and finding out. I had the 1UP's, even though I still don't understand their effect… Waying my options, I decided to wait before trying anything. Maybe after cultivating to some point in the future? For now, I left the site open to collect some pictures for ter.

As I started looking through some more pages my mind started to wander again, and I started thinking about a weapon. "A sword would be nice," I noted. One issue, there are a lot of swords in fiction (Even if most of them are just Excalibur). Something that wouldn’t be too powerful. Something interesting. Something that wouldn't viote my rules... Maybe something personal? As my thoughts led me I eventually came to the idea of a Zanpakuto from Bleach. If Kenpachi can pick up a random sword and make it his anyone should be able to. I can always rewatch the Soul Society arc and take one from any of the nameless extras.

After starting up the episode on the TV I considered the addition of a shield. Since I would be pying around throughout the next week something to defend myself with would be better to have sooner rather than ter. For a moment I thought about using a shield from myth. Like Agis, but I decided against it. I already said no God items, and I have no idea what other effects it could have. Would it be historical or mythical?

If I was going for a shield it should be sturdy enough not to break. Maybe even able to repair itself? This ended up in me spending about half an hour researching shields before settling on the Hylian Shield from Legend of Zelda. As for which game, it was Skyward Sword. It was the only version of the shield that had a distinct repair feature in game. Even if it wasn't what I expected and it ended up busted, I could just take out another one. While I was collecting the shield I wondered about taking the Master Sword as well. After careful consideration, I decided against it.

With the shield sorted I went back to collecting images of characters from Naruto. Continuing my project of collecting images of users of the Three Dojutsu. I think I got everyone important. There weren’t too many characters, the time-consuming process would be physically collecting the eyes.

Before too long there was a sword, a simple katana with a moderately curved bde with a length of 606 mm or 23.9 in. The handle was long enough for two hands and was tied with a purple wrap. The bde's guard was rectangur-shape and the scabbard was bck with nothing particurly notable about them. There were no special markings or anything that made it look special. As far as I know, this should be an Asauchi. (I'm curious as to how it will change in the future) I wondered as I started pulling it out of the scabbard. As for the shield, having pulled the sword free of its scabbard *Kng* The sound of the sword hitting the shield reverberated around the room.

I had put a decent amount of force into the swing. My hand kinda hurts. It made me realize if I was going to use a sword I needed training and practice. (One more thing on an ever-growing list).

As for the reason why, I would strike my new shield, I did it to observe the shield's reaction. Sheathing the sword, I picked up the shield and gave it a look over. looking over the blue shield with a depiction of a red bird (Loftwing) at the bottom and the Triforce at the top. As my eyes looked over the surface, they were drawn to small cuts on the surface where the sword had struck. They were small to the point that I probably would not have been able to see them before today. As I looked closer at the small marks I noticed occasional golden diamond-shaped glitters.

“So, it is repairing itself. Neat”!

  ...

  “What was I doing again”?
