Rushing down there, he entered his ring shortly after and was up against quite the opponent.
“Welcome everyone to the next match we have in store for you! In one corner, we have a combatant standing at 6’1, and weighing in at 175 lbs! Covered in menacing tattoos from head-to-toe, you know this guy means business! With a record of 3 fights, 2 wins and one loss, he’s clearly here to improve that tally! Please welcome ‘El Luchador’!!” The announcer roared, with the crowd reacting with that same liveness and energy.
“In the other corner, we have a new fighter with 1 fight and 1 glorious win to his name. Bringing total upset to almost all viewers, he managed to bring down someone visibly far outside his league. He might just pull of that same wonder story today! Standing at 5’8 and weighing 117 pounds, but don’t take his stature or frame for granted. Please welcome Chronos!” He roared.
More boos and grunts could be heard from the crowd; his reception clearly wasn’t great.
The man ahead of him licked his lips, walking forward as he wiggled his fingers.
As for the crowd, Leo could see someone in his periphery that didn’t seem to react to anything the announcer had said. Actually, there were three of them, all sat in a row. The man in the centre seemed quite physically large, filling out the seat he was on.
He had his legs crossed, and had a gleaming golden watch along with several golden rings. Those beside him also had several articles of jewellery on them. He wondered who those people were, but assuming from their appearance and location, he knew those weren’t people to be messed with.
Suits and gold in a place like this always meant those people would be important, and dangerous.
Both fighters walked toward each other, and shortly after the battle was on.
El Luchador charged forward, possessing surprisingly nimble feet. However, Leo inhaled calmly, and everything around him slowed. His fighter rushed in and shot forward his fist for a swift jab, that was awfully sluggish now it was moving at half speed for Leo.
Tapping it to the side, he could see his left side fully open and decided to act. Throwing in an awkward looking right elbow to his ribcage, anything would work now that his relative strength had doubled.
Smashing into his rib, he left a visible mark and knocked the tattooed warrior off course. This attack left him with gritted teeth but also eyes of shock and surprise. He couldn’t believe that this kid before him had done that to him.
How?
Leo didn’t stop there, and flustered him with a series of punches aimed at his chest. After4 clean strikes, the man managed to lift his hands to block his hits so that they wouldn’t deal an overwhelming amount of damage, but they still hurt even as they hit his forearms.
“This is the power I was talking about! Do not take his appearance for granted! It looks like he might just take a second surprise win in a row! El Luchador has no clue what to do!” The announcer replied.
Leo was starting to like the look of fear that appeared on his adversary’s face.
It made him even more confident in the battle, and he advanced once again. This time, he was going to slow time as much as he could.
If this man couldn’t handle his strength at 2x, he could end this by going as hard as he could. He wasn’t sure how much more he could slow time, but he knew he could go beyond 2x.
It would take everything out of him, though. During this brief moment of thought, El Luchador caught him and flustered him, punching him straight in the face. His fist smashed into his nose, knocking him back and making him take a few steps back.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Before he could even think of using his time powers, he received yet another punch to his face. This time, the strike knocked him into the cage behind him, leaving blood to drip down from his nose and onto his lips.
His hair now looked messy as his head had been knocked back a significant amount. It was clear that if he didn’t resort to his time manipulation, things would not go well for him.
“I knew you were all show! You just got lucky with those hits, kid!” El Luchador exclaimed, before stepping in for a subsequent attack.
Now was the time to act.
Slowing time by as much as he could, he felt that same crushing feeling on his head. Like someone had wrapped a tight rope around it and vigorously pulled.
However, everything around him was moving at a snail’s pace. Just as he wanted.
Even his fast-moving fist was clear to him. It wasn’t even a slight blur.
Simply stepping to the side, he made sure his feet were set up right -at least what he thought was right- then went in to attack. Landing a clean, snapping punch to his jaw, the man almost got lifted off his feet.
The punch had thrown him so far off-balance that he was saved by slamming into the cage. That couldn’t save him, though, as he was left to simply slide down the cage.
His eyes looked lifeless and into nothingness as he fell still. He laid there for a few seconds, until the referee rushed into the cage to bring the fight to a close.
“WOAHH!! Even after we thought this was all a hoax, it turns out it isn’t! Chronos has shown off monstrous strength and knocked out his second foe to continue his undefeated record!”
The crowd was slowly starting to accimatise to the boy. Some were bitter, furious at their lost bets. Others, though, were getting smart and placing their bets on this wonderkid, whilst also just feeling the thrill of the amazing two fights he had given for them.
“This kid just decides to waltz in here and fight guys twice his size?! He’s clearly cheating!!” A man roared from the crowd, with a vein showing on his forehead from his complete frustration.
“Nah, he’s clearly trained. You don’t need muscle to be a good fighter.” A man replied, to which the man just grunted with annoyance.
As for the suited men, Leo could see that they still had no reaction. However, there was this sense of fear and evil in their gazes that they didn’t have before. Before his match, they looked neutral, at ease.
Now they were tense, angry. Their faces were still but Leo could see it, it.
“El Luchador is losing his profitability. Two losses in a row in only five fights. We’re losing betting money on him, Sir Stefanos.” A shortish man in the crowd stated.
He had a suit on, and was one of the three men in a row at the very front.
He turned his head to the man at the centre, awaiting his reply. It was clear that the other two men had to answer to him, as even the leftmost man waited for him to give a reply.
“I know.” He stated, clearly still in his thoughts as he readjusted himself in his chair.
Stefanos readjusted the gold watch on his wrist, and also pushed down the golden ring on his left index finger as he mused over this situation. The men beside him had also been flamboyant and ostentatious with their outfit. It was easy to tell exactly who they were from this.
As the men lifted, all of those sat near them either stood or moved out of their way as they walked along the spectators’ area. There were doors positioned at the surrounding walls of the area, allowing them to exit.
“Who were those guys?” Leo wondered, before looking back to El Luchador who was currently being helped by a group of people who he assumed were medics of some form.
Leo didn’t spend long waiting around and headed straight over to receive his reward. He almost forgot where he was heading, but remembered to reach through the backhall of the building, and up to the payout rooms.
“You now have 58 heat and have been promoted to the E-1 division. You are now 4th out of 10 places.” The man announced, with an almost surprised tone.
This was the same man he had seen before, who hadn’t even shown an iota of emotion upon giving him his first reward.
“Your reward is $100 for your second fight and $170 for your heat and betting bonus.” The man furthered.
Taking his money, he swiftly went for the exit. As he headed toward the exit, he could hear a few light cheers. He couldn’t exactly tell who it was for, but could hear the word Chronos said quietly as he exited. and skipped along Cave Avenue, looking at the money in his hand. He did this for about a second before remembering where he was.
He looked around hastily before slipping his money into his pocket.
This was another great day! The days of him struggling and stressing about if his water would continue to run were now behind him. However, his life hadn’t turned to total peace.
He was still waiting with fear about what Kam and his father would do about his broken arm. He was sure that Kam wouldn’t just take this lightly.
As for right now, though, he had to be happy with what he had.
