[Kim POV]

  We start to walk back after Jill changes into the clothes that Ivan gave us. I'm still frustrated and angry at myself for being unable to keep Jill from getting hurt, but I try to keep from thinking it in words so Jill doesn't worry. As we walked over, everybody was surprised that Jill had transformed. Gale was the first to recover, probably because he had seen me transform, but not to Jill's extent.

  "Is that Jill?"(Gale)

  Gale asked me, hoping to calm everyone down.

  "Yes, now everyone can stop gawking at her."(Kim)

  I said, with some irritation in my voice.

  "I do apologize. I wanted to thank her for saving me and my squad."(Ivan)

  "You do look A little familiar, oh you were the one facing some wolves!"(Jill)

  "Yes, I'm gd you remember"(Ivan)

  "Kinda hard when someone looks that desperate."(Jill)

  I immediately turned to her with a shocked look on my face.

  "Jill, that was rude."(Kim)

  As I was reprimanding her, I heard Ivan burst out ughing.

  "HAHAHAHA. I was in quite a pathetic state. Please don't worry about it. Hahaha."(Ivan)

  I look over at the ughing man, who looks genuinely amused

  "If you say so, we should hurry up. Lily is most likely worried about Gale."(Kim)

  "I hope she didn't do anything to the base while we were gone."(Gale)

  "Don't go raising fgs like that!"(Kim)

  "Sorry, I didn't mean to."(Gale)

  "Let's just go."(Kim)

  After that, we got into the truck. The two other scouts didn't talk much, only answering with one-word responses. To say the trip so far has been awkward is an understatement.

  "Hey, are they normally this quiet?"(Kim)

  I whispered to Gale, hoping they didn't like to talk and not because of me.

  "They're scared of Lily and came along to avoid her."(Gale)

  "And they are worried about what will happen when they get back?"(Kim)

  "Yup, Lily was upset when her favorite test subject was gone."(Gale)

  "I'll have to apologize to her for disappearing on her then."(Kim)

  A small smile appeared on my face as I said that. Since Ivan was driving and the two volunteers weren't up for conversation, I looked out the window to see where we were. Suddenly, I felt something pulling at my soul. I looked around again only to realize that we were near the Shift. I have lived here most of my life, and even though it was in ruins, I still could tell where we were.

  "Jill, do you feel that as well?"(Kim)

  I look over to my self-procimed wife. Jill looked confused for a moment before answering.

  "I don't think so."(Jill)

  "Hey Gale, I feel like the Shift is pulling at me."(Kim)

  "Do you want to head over there?"(Gale)

  "Yes, but not right now. I think we should talk to Lily first."(Kim)

  "That is probably for the best. We don't want the base to be destroyed before we get back."(Gale)

  "I'll also want to ask you and Jill something when we get back to base"(Kim)

  With that, we all rexed until we got to the base.

  [Lily POV]

  I finally had some progress in the investigation. But before I could look into it more, I heard that the recovery team had returned. I quickly rushed over to see where they were. I finally got to the entrance of the base. I see the Humvee that the recovery team took for their mission. Six people hopped out of it, but two ran as soon as they saw me. The other four seemed happy to see me and waved when they saw me. There was one I didn't recognize, a red-haired girl with two fox tails, ears, and draconic wings. My scientific curiosity demanded I find out who or what this person was.

  "Hi, Lily. I brought her back like I said I would."(Gale)

  "I see that, and you brought me someone new as well. Hello, I'm the head doctor on base. Who are you?"(Lily)

  I turned to the mystery woman as I made my introduction, trying to keep calm while we were in public.

  "Hi, I'm Jill, Kim's fluffy wife!"(Jill)

  I was very surprised by her introduction. I looked at Kim to see her head in her hands, and her face was bright red. Gale and Ivan were shocked by the introduction as well. Jill, on the other hand, had a beaming smile on her face.

  "Why did you say that in front of everybody?!"(Kim)

  Kim shouted in an attempt to cover up her embarrassment.

  "Because you said Gale and Lily were your only friends on the base, so I wanted to tell them together."(Jill)

  Now it was my turn to be embarrassed by the fox girl's words, and my face turned a simir shade as my red hair. I could see that Gale's face was in a simir state as mine. But to our dismay, the person who's been quiet so far starts to ugh.

  "HAHAHAHAHA! I see I picked an excellent time to transfer to this base! HAHA!"(Ivan)

  I recognized his voice as Ivan, who spoke to me when Gale was unavaible. I try to calm my face and intimidate Ivan to get him to stop ughing, but he seems amused by my attempt.

  "No need to look at me like that."(Ivan)

  "We should discuss what happened in my b. Ivan, do you want to join us, or do you need to make a report on the mission?"(Lily)

  "No need. The other two that ran off volunteered to report about the trip."(Ivan)

  "Okay, then follow me to my b."(Lily)

  The five of us left to head to my b. Along the way, Jill kept looking around, excited by anything that caught her eye. After getting to my b, I asked Jill the first of many questions I had.

  "Jill, is that your original form?"(Lily)

  "No, my original form is more fluffy."(Jill)

  "Lily, before you start asking Jill questions, we need to talk about something else first."(Kim)

  "What is that?"(Lily)

  I asked, wondering what could be more important than how Jill's body worked.

  "Gale, do you want to tell her?"(Kim)

  "What are you talking about?"(Gale)

  "I believe Kim is referring to how you pushed yourself to the point of passing out."(Ivan)

  Gale's eyes widened from Ivan's statement.

  "You did what! Do you know how reckless it is to push yourself that hard?!"(Lily)

  "Jill, don't think you are getting out of this either."(Kim)

  Jill stiffened up at Kim's words. Gale and Jill were subjected to a long lecture for the next few hours.
