They say the livestock’s been hit with a disease. Our farmers and womenfolk came to ask for medicine for the animals. The cows have been giving less milk, and the goats are practically lying down, drained of strength — any day now, they’ll drop dead. Well, I had to go take a look, and yes, there’s indeed something wrong.
The herbalist made potions for the people, but when it comes to the livestock, that’s on me. She knows how much I can’t stand the smell; I even asked the necromancer to send his messengers either dried up or without flesh for taking his orders. But animals... I had to weave runes around the barns, cover the troughs with protective layers, and soak them in a medicinal mixture. In a couple of days, their health will be back to normal.

The main issue — I spent the most powerful rune stones on those barns. If my guildmates knew how I was wasting my talents, they’d be laughing for days. But now I can get the villagers to pay me with labor. Who’s going into the swampy lands to fetch new rune stones? Me, of course, but not alone!
And that’s an achievement, because last time I nearly drowned there and had to ask the swamp dweller for help. I later set up a frog seeker for that bastard — for a whole year! Spent a week lying around weak, even with the broths. A frog seeker, for a swamp dweller. A shame, that’s what it is for me!
