"ROAR!"
The once-silent mountain forest sprang to life with a heart-stopping roar.
Mrs. Sadie's eyes were locked on the massive grizzly bear before her, not daring to relax for even a second.
She had just shot down a deer and was about to take her prize back when this big fella charged out.
She gripped her rifle tightly, ready to fire at any moment.
But to be honest, it was hard to say how much damage a gun like that could do to this behemoth.
Hosea was right, this thing was huge. Mrs. Sadie looked like a kid standing in front of it.
Maybe it was because the deer was originally its prey, but it now believed Mrs. Sadie was trying to steal its kill.
It was furious, roaring at Mrs. Sadie with its mouth wide open, and then charging towards her with a massive paw raised.
Luckily, the grizzly wasn't very fast. Mrs. Sadie calmly watched the bear's approach and quickly rolled to the right, narrowly avoiding the blow.
Dodging the attack, Mrs. Sadie found herself behind the grizzly.
But instead of getting up to fight back, she rolled on the ground a couple more times, quickly putting some distance between them.
Don't think that just because a grizzly has a large body, it's slow.
The grizzly swiped back quickly, its sharp claws just missing Mrs. Sadie's back, tearing open a small pack she was carrying.
Mrs. Sadie immediately stood up, raised her rifle, and began firing rapidly.
She taught Stephen how to shoot, so naturally her gun skills wouldn't be bad.
She quickly worked the lever, skillfully and rapidly pulling the trigger.
In an instant, five or six bullets flew towards the grizzly.
But the shots had little effect.
What would normally be fatal bullets were like toothpicks stabbing a person when shot at this big guy.
The pain from the bullets only made it even more agitated.
Seeing this, Mrs. Sadie ran towards the river without looking back.
The lever-action rifle she had was too small of caliber to deal with something like this. She needed a large-caliber rifle or a shotgun.
The grizzly was hot on Mrs. Sadie's heels, and the complex terrain of the mountain forest didn't slow it down.
In just a few breaths, Mrs. Sadie could see that she was about to be overtaken by the huge thing.

"Bang!"
Suddenly, a gunshot rang out from the distance. A bullet hit the grizzly right in its massive eye with deadly accuracy.
The intense pain from the exploding eyeball sent the grizzly into a frenzy.
It instantly stood up on its hind legs and frantically waved its claws around.
Trees were snapped in half by its paws, showing its incredible strength!
"This must be the big one Hosea was talking about. There can't be two of these in one mountain."
Arthur quickly chambered another round with his right hand and said quickly to Stephen behind him, "Let's split up and shoot. Aim for the vitals."
Stephen didn't waste any words. He ran in the other direction.
He was holding the Winchester he found in Watson's Cabin.
Loaded with six slugs, it was enough to handle the beast.
Mrs. Sadie, seeing the two arrive, stopped running.
She immediately turned around and ran towards the grizzly, raising her lever-action rifle and firing at its massive body as she ran.
The three of them bombarded the grizzly with all the firepower they had from three different directions.
By the time all three had emptied their guns, the huge grizzly finally fell.
None of them approached, instead quickly reloading their weapons.
Who knew if the grizzly was faking it. If they got too close now, they might be screwed.
Stephen reloaded his Pump-Action Shotgun and shot the grizzly in its huge head.
The chunky slug bullet crashed into its head, blowing its forehead to smithereens.
Seeing that it still wasn't moving, and until the grizzly's blood had completely stained the nearby ground red, the three finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"You're really lucky. You run into a monster like this as soon as you step out the door," Arthur said to the disheveled Mrs. Sadie with a laugh.
"If you want it, you can have that luck," Mrs. Sadie said crankily.
Looking at the grizzly on the ground that was no longer moving, she said with lingering fear, "That thing is huge. I've never seen such a big bear."
"Me neither. That thing is definitely the boss around here." Stephen used his gun to lift the grizzly's paw, "Look at this. Its paw is almost as big as my chest."
"Old Hosea is definitely regretting it now. He'd say it's ruined his hunting fun."
Arthur said with a smile, "Let's figure out how to bring this big fella back. My God, that thing would feed the whole camp for days."
How were they going to bring it back? Who could carry that thing?
The three looked at each other, not knowing what to do.
In the end, Stephen pulled out his knife. First, they should disassemble the grizzly.
Arthur first used his knife to cut open the grizzly's skin, and then slowly peeled it off.
Arthur's craftsmanship was truly excellent, stripping off the bear hide.
Even though it was riddled with bullet holes, it was still a good bear hide.
After skinning, it was time to disassemble it, which was not so easy.
The grizzly's bones were thick and hard. Stephen couldn't chop them with a knife.
Helpless, he had to go back and ask Hosea for two axes. The knife just wasn't working.
After working hard for a long time, the three of them finally chopped off the grizzly's four paws.
"Huff, oh man, this thing is too big." Stephen sat on a large rock, panting. "Maybe we should just forget it. Even with four horses, we can't carry that back."
"That's all we can do," Arthur said regretfully. "Having these four paws isn't bad either."
"Thanks for your hard work, masters of the hunt."
Hosea came over with a coffee pot and a few cups, "Come on, you deserve a cup of hot coffee after a hard work."
He poured each of them a cup, and the four of them sat in the mountains to catch their breath.
Like he said before, there couldn't be a second grizzly that big in the mountains, or maybe not even any other beasts.
So, it would be safe here for a long time.
The golden sunlight filtered through the treetops, dappling the nearby grass.
A few small birds chirped in the branches before quickly disappearing into the deep forest.
Looking at the beautiful scenery, the four relaxed. It would be even better if it weren't for all the blood and the massive bear corpse next to them.
"I didn't expect us to complete the hunting target as soon as we got here." Hosea took a sip of coffee and said helplessly, "It's a bit frustrating."
"Maybe we should have let you take the last shot to feel involved," Arthur said with a smile.
"I'm good, I'm happy with how things are."
Looking at his own somewhat wobbly legs and the thick bear paws on the ground, Hosea decisively refused.
