Ch.5: Laila’s Confusion

Chase saw her waking up and smiled, "Hey, Lai. How are you feeling?"

'How does he know my name? It's because he's a Demon Lord, right?' Lai felt a surge of adrenaline as she swiftly propelled herself off the ground, her body moving with an exhirating speed that was unlike anything she had experienced before. The world around her blurred as her determination fueled her momentum. In a fluid motion, she reached down, her fingers curling around the hilt of her sword, which y gleaming on the ground beside her, ready to aid her in the challenges ahead.

"You should have never spawned here, demon! I will purge your foul soul from this world!" Lai screamed.

"Whoa!... H-Hold on now... Can't we talk about this?" Chase's pleas echoed in the tense air, his voice wavering with desperation. But as he met her fierce gaze, a wave of panic washed over him—she looked ready to strike.

'Shit. How am I supposed to convince her that I'm not her enemy? Think, dude!...'

Chase tried to come up with something quick, but Lai moved in for the kill and swung her sword down at his head, hoping that this Demon would be her final act of heroism.

'N-no matter how handsome he is, he's a Demon. And I-I have a duty to my people,' Lai charged forward, her heart racing as she propelled herself toward Chase with an intensity she had never mustered before. Her sword glinted in the light, a fierce extension of her determination, but at the st moment, it halted just inches from his head, the air crackling with tension as the steel shimmered ominously in the space between them.

'W-What? W-Why isn't my body moving?' Lai thought in a panic.

The pressure built within her, and her arms quivered as she struggled against the invisible force that held her immobile. An insatiable fire burned in her chest, raging furiously, urging her onward, yet it was no match for the power that compelled her to halt.

"Whoa! Jesus!" Chase flinched after she made her move, which should have clearly cut off his head.

"Huh?" Lai stood frozen, her heart racing. It felt as if an invisible barrier enveloped him, holding her captive in a state of stunned disbelief. But the moment he stepped back, the grip released, and she could finally move again, a wave of relief washing over her.

"Please. I don't want to fight you, Lai... Just hear me out," Chase said, hoping he could make her understand that he wasn't there to harm her.

"No! I-I can't let you go. The world needs me to end your evil," Lai said as she moved her sword with grace to do a spin move, aiming for Chase's chest, but just before she was about to strike him, her sword stopped inches away from nding her mark.

"W-What?! M-My sword... W-Why can't I hit you!? What magic is this," Lai stood frozen, eyes wide with disbelief. No matter how hard she tried, it felt as if an invisible force was holding her sword in pce, resisting her every attempt to wield it. Frustration bubbled inside her as she poured all her strength into the bde, but it remained stubbornly immobile.

"Jeez! You're really fast... I thought I was a dead man," Chase said with a relieved look as Lai's attack was halted for some reason that he wasn't aware of.

'H-He's not attacking me, even though he has the upper hand... Why? Is he toying with me? Wait! H-he's a Demon Lord. So, why isn't he killing me already? Does he think I'm an easy target, and he wants to humiliate me? No, there's no way a Demon Lord would think like that. But why isn't he trying to kill me?' Lai thought, trying to figure out what his game was.

It was then that a floating book came into Lai's view.

"She's a funny one like you, master... Hey, minion! You can't hurt him, so just give up, sweetie," Eve said with a mocking tone.

"Eve! You're not helping!" Chase yelled at the grimoire.

Lai redoubled her efforts and tried with all her might to push her sword through the invisible force field.

'C-Come on! Move you stupid sword!? I-I need to s-stop him. C-Come on! MOVE!'

"G-Grr... W-why is this happening to me?!" Lai screamed as her sword hand was shaking.

"Because, my dear, you're his minion," Eve teased.

'Lies! This has to be a lie! I-I won't believe a word it says!' Lai's mind was spinning out of control and her loins were itching so much that her legs started feeling weak.

"Stop that, Eve. You're confusing her more than she is now," Chase reprimanded the grimoire.

"Master. If you keep treating your minions like they're actual people, it will make them question their purpose in life. I can assure you that once we start conquering this world, you will need her, and I'm only preparing her for her role in your great conquest," Eve expined.

  'N-NO! I NEED TO BE STRONG! I NEED—AUNH!?'

Lai couldn't take the teasing anymore and dropped her sword, and she fell to her knees, which caused her bigger breasts to bounce, and her pussy was dripping her juices. She didn't understand what it was like to be this horny. She never loved or was attracted to a man before. She just thought this Demon Lord cast some type of spell that enfeebled her.

"Ah... Ah... S-So... You were... Just pying with... M-me this whole time... Ah... J-Just know this... Your day will come... Ah... When the Hero is born... Ah... He will end your reign... Ah... I will... Nnnahh..." Lai couldn't get her words out as her legs were spread open, and her pussy started to itch. She gritted her teeth as she hunched over and pced both her hands on the ground.

'So... This is how I'm going to die... I can't stop it... Ah... I'm useless... I'm sorry, father. I've failed the family's name...'

Chase looked down at Lai with a worried look, trying to figure out how to get through to her.

'I should give her my cloak so she can cover herself up? Haah... Yeah, it's the right thing to do,' Chase thought as he stepped closer to Lai.

'Ah!?... He's coming to end me!... Don't let him see your fear, Lai. Died with honor!'

He then took off his dark cloak and draped it around her shoulders before kneeling next to her. "Here. It'll keep you warm," Chase said in a calm tone that sent shivers down her spine.

Lai was surprised and confused by this Demon's actions as she looked up at Chase.

"You look like you're cold," Chase said with a kind smile.

Lai was surprised by his kindness. She was studying him and didn't detect any malice, but that just made her more confused.

'Is this a trick? W-why is he being so nice to me? A-And why do I have the urge to hug him?'

Chase saw Lai staring at him with curiosity, her bright green eyes sparkling in the moonlight. He couldn't help but feel a connection between them, and the more he looked at her, the more he wanted to be closer to her.

'Man... She's a cutie... Gah! Stop it, Chase. Everyone and everything she knows is probably dead or destroyed. This is no time to flirt.'

Chase had to peel his gaze away from her as he looked around the vilge square. Seeing all the destruction. His smile faded as pity and sorrow washed over him.

"I don't know what words I can say that will make things better, Lai. But if you just take the time to listen, I will expin everything. You have my word," Chase said.

'Huh? But a Demon's word means nothing. W-Why does he seem so sincere? Is it a trap? But what if he's telling the truth? T-Then I should hear him out, right? W-why do I feel a little happy about hearing him out.'

"Y-You have no idea what I've been through Dem—"

  "Chase," he interrupted her.

  "What?"

"My name's Chase Saunders," he replied.

Lai's heart raced, and her cheeks felt a bit warm. 'W-Why is my heart racing when he said his name?'

Her succubus tail swished a bit as she kept her gaze on him.

"O-Okay... Chase..." she stuttered a bit.

'N-No! I shouldn't call him by his name! W-Wait a second. He's a Demon. Shouldn't I be calling him a Demon Lord? Ugh! I-I'm getting a headache.' Lai thought as she shook her head to clear her mind.

Chase could see she was struggling to get her thoughts out.

"It's okay. Take your time, Lai. I'm not going anywhere," Chase said.

'W-why is my heart beating so fast? What has he done to me?'

"Y-You're right... But I feel strange... Y-you must have cast a spell on me, demon," Lai stuttered.

"Well... I found you bleeding out on the street... And..."

Lai looked up at Chase, wondering why he had trailed off.

"And?" Lai said with a frown.

'What is he not telling me?'

"Um... I did use a spell on you, but I didn't have any healing spells. So, I had... Um... I had to use my..." Chase was blushing a bit while scratching the back of his head.

"He turned you into a succubus, you silly girl," Eve interrupted.

"WHAT!?" Lai was in shock. She quickly opened up the cloak to see her body and was greeted by her breasts, which were bigger than before, and her nipples had also changed.

  'T-They're bigger!'

She then noticed a tail sticking out from her pants. Then she noticed her hair was longer and had changed its color from dark brown to bright, venomous red. She brought her hand up to grab some of her hair, but she bumped into a tiny horn.

"Huh?" Lai brought up her other hand and found the other horn.

'I'm not human!?! NO! This can't be! H-He's the Demon Lord of Lust, and I-I'm his sve!'

Lai was panicking. Her heart was pounding so fast that she could hear it. All she did was take the cloak and wrap it around her tighter, then try to pull the hood down.

'H-He turned me into a demon?! I'm forever damned to serve him, but I will not let him have his way with me. No, I won't be his pything, no matter what! He may have made me a Succubus, but I will not yield. No, I will find a way to get rid of these horns and tail. Yes, I have to stay strong and fight him.'

Lai couldn't wrap her mind around it, and she started having a panic attack. She then started hyperventiting.

Chase felt helpless as Lai looked at him in fear as Eve hovered next to him.

"Haah... This is why you should have wiped her mind, master... Free will is meant for those in power. Not for the lower css," Eve stated.

Chase felt a simmering frustration with Eve. He knew that bickering in front of Lai would only make things worse, so he decided it was best to step back and let her have some space. Focused on the bigger picture, he turned his attention to the pressing issue at hand—preparing a proper burial for the dead.

"I'll let you have some time to think," Chase said as he got up and went to pick up Lai's sword.

  'W-What's he going to do?'

As Chase picked up the sword, he walked back to Lai.

'I-I need to get my sword back! Before he tries to do something~'

"Here... I'll go around the vilge and start preparing a proper burial for the fallen," Chase said as he extended the sword's handle toward Lai.

"M-My sword?" Lai looked at the sword and then at Chase with confusion.

"Take it... I know you'll feel safer holding it," Chase said with a smile.

'N-No way... I-Is he being serious?... W-What is going on? Why would a Demon be so kind and thoughtful? It doesn't make sense... Was I wrong about this demon—I mean, Chase...'

"U-Um... You said your name is Chase, right?" Lai asked as she grabbed her sword back from Chase.

  "Yeah."

"Are you telling me the truth about making me a Succubus?" Lai asked.

Chase grimaced and nodded his head, "Yeah... I wish there was another way to save you... Maybe we can find a way to turn you back into a hum—."

"NO!" Lai interrupted Chase. Something inside of her told her not to take the human form again. She regathered herself and cleared her throat.

"No?... What do you mean?" Chase was confused.

'W-Why did I just yell out 'no'? I-It doesn't make sense. Gah! He's the nicest guy I've ever met. It's like he has no ulterior motives like most of the guys who tried to be nice to me. All men lusted for me or wanted my position within the nobility, and that was the only reason why any of those creeps wanted me. They never cared for me. I was only a means to their ends... And Chase seems so different and I bet he has a sexy body... W-What am I thinking?! He's a Demon. The one race that's trying to destroy the world... B-But why do I trust him.'

Lai was conflicted, and she couldn't understand why her heart was telling her to trust Chase. She never felt anything so strongly before, and it scared her.

'What is this feeling? W-Why do I feel a connection with him? W-Why does he seem different than any other person I've met? Maybe there's a way to test him?... Yeah, I should try that. And if he passes the test, then maybe I should hear him out, and maybe even travel with him. It would be nice to have someone who I can talk to. Gah!? Again!? Haah... One step at a time, Lai. Okay, I should start with the first step. What is the test? Oh!? I know!'

"I-I was trying to test you... Yeah! I need to know that you're not lying to me. But I need to do another test first before I can trust you," Lai said nervously.

Chase was surprised. 'Is she really testing me? I mean, it's not a bad idea. I hope it's nothing too crazy.'

"Okay, I see. That's a good idea. If I were in your shoes, I'd do the same," Chase replied.

Lai blushed again as Chase was so willing to hear her out. Her father barely heard her out, and it made her feel happy, but she was a little nervous because she wasn't sure if he would show his true colors.

  "Y-Yeah..."

Lai started thinking of a way to test him, but she was struggling on how to test. And after a minute of muttering to herself, thinking she finally had an idea, she quickly shakes her head in disappointment and starts all over again. Chase saw this and knew that she needed time to come up with a test, and instead of waiting for her to come up with one, he'll just start preparing the burials for the dead, until Lai comes up with a test.

"Well, I guess we can talk more after I've properly buried the dead. I just wished I could have saved more of the innocent," Chase said with a pained look.

'The innocent? Oh no!' Lai's mind snapped back as she recalled Lucius and his father taking some of the women of the town as sves.

With a rush of adrenaline, she sprang to her feet and dashed toward the docks, her heart racing with each determined stride. She prayed that there could be a chance to save the women of the vilge.

"Huh? Where do you think she's going, master?"

Chase saw all her memories when he revived her and he didn't like what he saw.

"I think I know," Chase replied as he quickly ran after Lai.

"Huh!? Hey, wait for me, master!" Eve yelled as she floated after the two.

  ***

Chase discovered Lai standing on the weathered docks, her gaze transfixed on the vast expanse of Lake Drenan. The night enveloped the scene in a velvety darkness, yet her unique demon eyes pierced through the shadows, locking onto a distant boat that bobbed gently in the rippling waters.

Lake Drenan sprawled magnificently before her, an immense innd ke that stretched nearly 2000 kilometers long and 1600 kilometers wide. Its surface shimmered under the faint glow of the moon, a breathtaking tapestry of deep blues and silvery reflections. Connecting to the legendary Sea of Thieves through a network of winding rivers, the ke whispered secrets of adventure and distant nds.

However, in this moment, Lai felt an overwhelming sense of helplessness. The boat, now a mere silhouette on the horizon, seemed impossibly far away, and her heart ached with the longing to reach it, to bridge the vast distance that separated her from whatever y beyond the dark waters.

'I have to save them... But how... It's not like I can swim that far. Even with my new demon powers, it's not going to be enough. Wait! If Chase says he wishes he could save more innocents, He might be willing to help me! This could be the test that proves his intentions are pure. Yeah, I'm going to ask him for help.'

"Lai!" Chase yelled as he ran up to her.

"Ah!? What the!?" Lai jumped, her heart racing, as Chase silently approached from behind, catching her completely off guard. This caused her cloak to open, and she was showing off her beautiful breasts to Chase. She quickly wrapped her cloak around her and blushed.

'I-I keep forgetting that I'm topless under this cloak! And I just fshed Chase my tits. Gah! I can't believe myself.' Lai shook her head and regathered her thoughts.

"You said you wished to save the innocent, correct!? Do you see the boat?" Lai said with a desperate tone.

"Yeah, that's the Mayor's boat, right?" Chase asked.

"Yes. The mayor and his son Lucius kidnapped a few of the vilgers. They will be forced into svery. We can still save them, Chase. And if we save them, then you will have earned my trust," Lai was trying her best not to beg too much.

'I'm a knight, dammit! Stop sounding like a bitch! And why do I keep referring to him by his name?!'

"I see," Chase said out loud as he scanned the dock. To see what they could use. However, most of the boats that were left were destroyed in the pandemonium, except for a rowboat.

'I guess I am strong enough to use that rowboat to catch up with the Mayor's ship. But I don't know how to fight... Even if I saw all of Lai's academy training first hand.' Chase thought while rubbing his chin. Then he looked at Lai, who had a desperate look written on her face that made him feel obligated to save the captives.

"Okay, I think I can use the rowboat to catch up to them."

Lai's heart skipped a beat. She was surprised that Chase was willing to help her, and it made her feel a bit strange, but in a good way.

"R-Really!? You'll help me save them!?" Lai was so happy, that her tail was wagging around.

  "Yes... But..."

A wave of panic washed over Lai as she contempted the possible demands he might make.

  "B-But what?"

"I won't be much help when we do, catch up to them. I have no combat experience, Lai. And I don't want to get in your way when the action starts. I'll try and help when needed. But tell me if I'm a nuisance and I'll hang back," Chase replied.

Whatever panic had begun to consume, Lai instantly dissipated and was repced with a warm sensation. Every man she ever worked with would take command of the situation and tell her what to do. This Demon Lord was not only willing to work together but also willing to follow her lead. It stirred something inside of her like never before. She had the urge to kiss him, and she feared that if she did, she wouldn't stop.

'He... Is he worried about getting in my way? A Demon Lord of Lust is concerned about my well-being... Does he like me? Why do I want him to like me?... What has the world come to?' Lai found herself drawn to Chase in a way that stirred up a whirlwind of emotions within her. The more time they spent together, the more her thoughts became tangled, leaving her both exhirated and confused.

"U-Um... Don't worry, Chase. You’ll never get in my way... As long as none of them get the jump on me," Lai replied.

Chase sighed with relief as Lai finally started to accept him.

"Good, I'll get the boat ready. While you get your armor on. We'll have to be quick," Chase said.

  Lai was confused, "A-Armor?"

Chase gnced at her with a raised brow, and his eyes drifted downwards towards Lai's cleavage. He used all his willpower to look away.

'Fuck, Chase. Focus!' Chase reprimanded himself.

"Yeah, I don't know if you want to fight them while topless," Chase said as he scratched the back of his head with embarrassment.

Lai's succubus nature was starting to emerge as the feeling of fresh air on her bare nipples felt normal. She felt an odd sense of pride when she saw Chase looking at her with lust, and it made her feel hot. But then her logical mind kicked in, and she quickly closed her cloak and blushed.

"I-I... N-No... Um... R-Right! S-Sorry! Haah..." Lai's cheeks were blushing a deep shade of red.

'Huh? How did I forget that I was half-naked? What the hell is wrong with me?! Gah! It's because I'm a succubus. I need to remember that I'm a respectable woman and a knight. And knights should never show off their skin unless you're a rogue or a dancer. Gah! Focus, Lai.'

"I'll get my gear..." Lai said as she ran off to the Knight's outpost.

"I-I hope we'll be able to save the girls in time," Chase said out loud.

Eve was staring at Lai, then at her master, and she couldn't help but giggle.

  "What's so funny?" Chase asked.

"Master... Do you not see what's going on here? Lai's attracted to you," Eve said.

"What!? You can't be serious. This is not a time to joke around."

"Well, this has been the strangest way I have seen a Demon Lord get experience points. Well, I think they are experience points? Anyway, I’m not going to compin if it gets results."

Chase stared at the Grimoire with a look of doubt.

"What? It's true... Most of my past masters. Forced people into lustful acts to get stronger. But this... It's like you are giving her the choice to be lustful, and she’s accepting it with little resistance, which is a new level of seduction. And I don't know what these Love Points are... They can't be that much different from Lust Points, right?... Hey, Master?... What's love, by the way?"

Chase had a dumbfounded look on his face.

"Are you messing with me, Eve?"

The Floating Grimoire took offense to his comment and was filing her pages around.

"I'm just telling you the truth, master," Eve said in her usual voice, which made it tough for Chase to determine whether she was serious.
