141 - Highway Heist Rivals Emerge!

"Frank, long time no see! You selling intel now?"

Jason messaged Frank back, a hint of teasing in his tone.

Frank replied quickly: "Gotta make a living, big bro! I gotta feed my team, you know? Wanna buy some intel? Guaranteed authentic!"

While Frank was decent, his followers weren't exactly top-tier. His original crew had mostly bit the dust, and he was now on his second batch.

Yesterday, the Supernova vehicle team had a Vehicle Owners Meet-Up where they shared experiences and concluded that the strength of their followers was crucial.

A team couldn't be strong with just the owner.

Followers needed some skills, preferably learned from the Skills Dungeon Token. That way, they could help and support the team.

Everyone in the vehicle team agreed.

To grow a team, you had to nurture every member and use their strengths. Not just the owner focusing on their own upgrades, treating followers like gas-fetching slaves.

So, the Supernova vehicle team owners started paying more attention to their followers' abilities, trying to recruit or train skilled and promising individuals.

That's why Smith was so envious of Chloe and her beautiful sisters.

And Frank selling intel was to earn 1-star gear that could boost his followers' stats.

"Spill it. What intel? What do you want for it?"

Jason cut to the chase, asking about the intel and the price.

Frank told him everything and gave his price. "Someone in our vehicle team wants to mess with you. How about two 1-star equipment pieces for the intel? After all, I'm betraying my teammates."

*Damn!* Someone in the Supernova vehicle team was after him.

Jason felt a twinge of annoyance. Not because he feared the Supernova vehicle team, but because being targeted rubbed him the wrong way.

It's a lousy feeling, and Jason hadn't provoked them.

Frank's price was acceptable. Not cheap, but Jason didn't care about two 1-star equipment pieces.

Chloe's crew had stripped a couple of 1-star equipment pieces from the bodies they'd wasted in the Dungeon, and the girls weren't interested in wearing them. Jason sent them to Frank.

Frank was impressed with Jason’s speed. He immediately told Jason about Smith's situation.

"There's a guy named Smith in the Supernova vehicle team. His followers died in the Chests mechanism, and it involved some women..."

"Smith has asked everyone in the vehicle team to help him investigate those women. It won't be long before they find you. But don't worry, I'll keep an eye on Smith for you."

Frank sent Jason screenshots of Smith's messages in the vehicle team's channel, along with some other intel on Smith.

Frank, the informant, was on the level, telling Jason everything he knew.

After reading Frank's intel, Jason closed the system, inwardly despising Smith.

*So, it's Smith whom I beat in the Chests mechanism.*

Whether Smith wanted revenge for his followers or had designs on Chloe and her beautiful sisters, Jason had Smith’s face etched in his memory. He better not cross paths with him.

Smith had exposed Jason to the Supernova vehicle team.

Chloe's crew were Jason's followers, and it wouldn't be long before they were identified.

After all, Jason had taken Ellie, Lily, and Joyce to a Gathering Place last night, and Ellie had even fired a flintlock pistol to scare a stall owner.

Jason would soon attract the attention of some Supernova vehicle team owners.

Jason wasn't afraid of Smith alone, but being targeted by an entire vehicle team was bad news.

David and Feminism often clashed in his past life, so he understood how annoying it was to face a vehicle team.

  ...

They resumed their search in the RV, stopping frequently, while Chloe's crew kept looting Bronze Chests.

"Jason, check out what we found!" Ellie and Lily chirped as they bounced back to the RV.

The girls held three clucking hens.

"Wow! Chickens!" ?Joy curiously poked one with her finger, confirming it was alive.

Ellie and Lily proudly showed the hens to Jason, Tiffany, and ?Joy.

Jason smiled. "Jenna will be thrilled! She's been wanting to raise chickens forever."

Three hens were a good find. Each could lay an egg a day, and with the chicken coop Blueprints they'd found, they could increase egg production by one per hen.

That made six eggs a day.

If they could find a rooster, they could start a farm and have more chickens and eggs.

Chloe and Kira each dragged a Gray Wolf carcass back to the RV.

Seven Gray Wolf had guarded the Bronze Chest. Ellie shot two, and the rest ran for the hills.

They dumped the wolf carcasses in the storage, put the hens in the kitchen, penned them up with a Wooden Bucket and chicken coop, and the RV continued its journey.

The resource collection continued until around three or four in the afternoon. Chloe's crew had spent nearly a day looting Bronze Chests. The hot weather made them sweat profusely.

But the haul was worth it.

Chloe's crew had looted 12 E-Rank Attribute Orbs and two 1-star outer garments, plus three 1-star weapons, from the Bronze Chests.

The E-Rank Attribute Orbs did nothing for Chloe's crew, so they gave six each to Tiffany and ?Joy.

The two 1-star outer garments went to Ellie and Lily.

The beautiful sisters didn't really want them. Wearing them boosted their E+ Physique to D-, but it was too damn hot.

Wearing the outerwear to fight monsters meant being covered in sweat. But under the forced distribution of Chloe and Kira, the beautiful sisters reluctantly put on their coats.

They also snagged some banana peels, ink, and other racing items, along with vehicle repair tool kits, fertilizers, bandages, and other junk.

All of these were nice scores, increasing the team stash.

Most teams would hoard these items and never trade them. So Jason's team didn't have many.

Besides that, Chloe's crew came across several Blueprints: planting pots, batteries, and other oddball stuff.

Jason added these Blueprints to his collection. Not good in the moment, but he could pass them on to Tiffany to trade.

As the RV continued its search on the road, a system notification changed Jason and the beautiful sisters' faces instantly.
