Chapter 25: Trouble in the Capital

And that night, Yan Xikun was held by Chu Yicheng to fall asleep. The next day when she woke up, she saw him still holding her tightly and staring at her without blinking.

She woke up and Chu Yicheng looked at her and asked, "You're awake. You didn't sleep well last night. Sleep a bit more. It's still early anyway. It's cold and there's nothing to do."

"It's okay, it's already bright outside. It's time to get up." Yan Xijun pushed him away awkwardly and hurriedly got out of bed.

"Don't go, stay and sleep with me for a while." Chu Yicheng pulled her back, pressing her onto the bed, not wanting to let her go, afraid that if she left, there wouldn't be another chance like this again.

He pressed her down on the 'bed'. Yan Xijun looked at him tensely, afraid that he would make another move that was unfavorable to her.

"Fool, I've said it before, I'll wait for you, wait for you to slowly accept me. I won't treat you badly, don't worry." Chu Yicheng smiled and comforted her, holding her hand: "Anyway, you don't love your husband, you escaped from the fire, he must think you're dead, in the future he will still marry another woman, so marrying me is the best for you."

"Prince." Yan Xikun struggled free from his grasp, looking at him firmly and saying: "I am not possible to marry you. Because my husband's identity is special. As long as he doesn't divorce me, I will always be his person."

"Your identity is special, even more special than mine?" Chu Yicheng smiled and said: "Don't be afraid, as long as it's what I want, nothing can't be obtained. No matter how special your husband's identity is, I won't be afraid."

"Your Highness, we are not suitable for each other. There are many women in the world who can match you well. Why do you insist on me? I am no longer worthy of you."

"You're right. Among so many 'girls', I just happened to take a liking to you alone. So, don't even think about leaving me."

  “………”

Yan Xikun was speechless. Why were there such persistent people? If he revealed his true identity, would he still dare to pester her?

She was hesitant and afraid to speak out, fearing that it would not only fail to achieve her desired outcome but also lead to unnecessary trouble.

At this time, a voice came from outside the door, "Your Highness, are you awake? The guard said there's an urgent matter to discuss with you."

"Oh, let him wait for a while." Chu Yicheng shouted outside the door. No matter how urgent it was, nothing was more important than his business with her.

"Prince, you'd better go see him. Maybe he really has something urgent to find you." Yan Xijun advised. "Besides, I'm hungry too. I want to have breakfast."

"Alright then. Get up and attend to me while I wash and dress." Chu Yicheng climbed up and sat on the edge of the bed.

"Good." Yan Xijun also quickly got up. She was originally his personal maid to serve him in washing, dressing and undressing. After that, she walked out of the house, opened the door and let those maids waiting at the door enter the house. The charming man outside looked at her with a thoughtful gaze. She didn't have time to think about what that gaze meant. She took over his clothes from a maid's hands and went back into the house.

He finished serving her, and Yan Xi Jun finally had time to attend to her own matters. Chu Yi Cheng ordered someone to bring a set of her clothes from her house, and told her to wash up and change in his quarters.

Chu Yicheng and Mei were talking in the outer room, while Yan Xijun was changing clothes in the inner room. She wasn't used to changing clothes at someone else's house, so she quickly finished in just a few moments. Sitting in front of the dresser, she tidied up her black hair.

"Sir." Mei immediately went to welcome Chu Yicheng as soon as he came out. He glanced inside and said, "Sir, you've turned Miss Yan into your own 'woman'."

"There isn't." Chu Yicheng accepted the fragrant tea offered by Yiniang and took a light sip. The morning tea was somewhat bitter, ah.

"No. Then why would you and she live together in one room." said with a hint of suspicion and confusion.

"It's a long story, but she refused to give in to me, so up until now I still haven't touched her."

"Oh, that's good." Mei let out a visible sigh of relief. He didn't wait for Chu Yicheng to invite him and sat down across from him, also relaxing with a sip of tea.

"Hey, don't you have something to report? Disturbing my peaceful morning. You're not here to ask me about this matter, are you?" Looking at Mei Youyi's charming appearance, Chu Yicheng couldn't help but suspect his true intentions.

As soon as he asked this, Mei hurriedly composed himself and said with a serious face: "When you sent me to the capital to handle that matter, it happened to be when something big happened in the capital."

"What's going on?" Chu Yicheng asked calmly.

"The Yan family was ordered to be executed by the Emperor." Mei Dao said: "The head of General Yan was hung on the city wall by the Emperor's order, but later he was given a grand burial."

"What? How could he die so easily?" Chu Yicheng asked in shock. Yan Dajiang was his most secretive and hidden chess piece in the capital, how could he be suddenly eliminated by the Emperor?

Yan Xijun, who was combing her hair in the inner room, vaguely heard their conversation. When she heard the words "General Yan", she was so shocked that she threw down the jade comb in her hand and rushed out with her hair disheveled.

She rushed in front of Mei and stared at him tightly, asking: "What did you say? Yan Dajiang, the general of the capital city, is dead."

She stood up slowly under his gaze, looking back at him and said: "Yes, not only did General Yan die, but the entire Yan family was killed or exiled. The capital city no longer has a place for the Yan family."

"It's impossible. Such a thing can't happen. How could General Yan Da die?" Yan Xi Jun shook her head desperately, looking at him and saying: "You must have misheard. You definitely misheard. General Yan Da has the power to dominate the imperial court. He wouldn't die so easily."

Yan Xijun still didn't quite believe Mei's words, even though she had dreamed of her father's death last night. But people say that dreams are the opposite, so she stubbornly believed that her father hadn't died.

He looked at her with a worried expression, knowing that she was skeptical. If he hadn't already known her identity, he would have also doubted her persistence.

He didn't want to deceive her, so he said heartlessly: "I'm not mistaken. I was there the day General Yan Da was buried. The emperor showed him extraordinary kindness and gave him a royal funeral."

"Huh? How did he die?" Yan Xijun heard the bad news and felt as if she had been struck by lightning on a clear day, almost unable to stand up straight. She swayed, and was caught by Chu Yicheng.

Chu Yicheng looked at her with a puzzled expression. "What's wrong?" It was really strange. Obviously, he and Mei Zheng were talking about General Yan Dajiang just now. She suddenly rushed out of nowhere. And yet, she was so concerned about this matter.

  It's really hard to find.

Yan Xijun shook off his hand, ignoring him, and instead asked Mei: "If General Yan dies, what about Empress Yan in the palace? What happens to her? Is she also killed?"

Mei shook her head. "It's all over the place that Empress Yan has been deposed and is now in the Cold Palace."
