Chapter Ten: The Inn is Attacked

"Since you're not being honest and helping me scratch my back, now I'm watching you do things. Help me wipe my chest." Chu Yicheng ordered. His narrow phoenix eyes wouldn't allow Yan Xijun to say another word.

"What." Yan Xijun looked at him in surprise. What a joke. Let her help him wipe that place. Looking at his 'strong' and 'muscular' chest, she swallowed hard.

Chu Yicheng grasped her hand and pressed it against his chest. "Did you hear that? Help me wipe this off."

Yan Xijun shook off his hand and threw down the cloth strip in her hand. "No, I'm too lazy to 'serve' you. You deal with it yourself."

"Dare to disobey my orders? You're looking for death." Chu Yicheng stretched out his hand to grab her. Yan Xijun dodged nimbly and panicked, wanting to run out the door. Suddenly, a sharp sword blocked her way.

Yan Xijun was shocked and subconsciously retreated backwards, just reaching the edge of the bathtub. She fixed her terrified gaze on them, unsure where they had come from, as several black-clad men emerged, each holding a treasured sword. Their faces were covered with black scarves, revealing only two gleaming eyes.

These people immediately found their assassination target. They rushed towards the bathtub with swords drawn. Yan Xijun was immediately frightened and stood still there.

She also wanted to escape. But her feet wouldn't listen. As if nailed there. Wanting to move but unable to.

"Damn it." Chu Yicheng also saw the black-clad man rushing over. He leaped out of the bathtub, grabbed the white robe that was placed on the screen with one hand, and wrapped it around his body. Then he swept up the stunned Yan Xijun and narrowly avoided the swords that were stabbing at them.

The man in black didn't make a sound, and struck again with his sword. Chu Yixuan couldn't move freely in this cramped room. Apart from protecting himself, he was unarmed. The precious sword and the dagger he always carried were on the table outside. Now, Mei was not by his side either. It seemed that they couldn't fight back here. They had to escape first.

When he saw the open window, Chu Yicheng flashed past the black-clad man's move and jumped out of the window with Yan Xijun in his arms, rushing forward frantically.

"A low, emotionless voice escaped from the mouth of a black-clad man. He waved his hand and those black-clad men also jumped down from outside the window, closely following."

The rain is still falling non-stop. Yan Xijun suddenly hated the autumn rain very much. The endless fall. It won't pour heavily, nor will it stop. People are fed up with it from the bottom of their hearts.

This group of black-clad men was clearly here to kill him. He must have offended a lot of people. Yan Xijun was held by him as he sprinted away. She felt his speed gradually slowing down. She guessed that he might be exhausted. After all, holding onto a big living person and sprinting was still somewhat strenuous.

"Let me down. Those black-clad men are here to kill you. They may not harm me." Wiping the rain from his face, Yan Xijun said to Chu Yicheng.

Chu Yicheng said: "Although they came to kill me, but they won't let you off either. Because you've already been involved in this assassination."

"No way! How come I'm so unlucky? I didn't do anything wrong. How can I lose my 'life' tonight?"

Chu Yicheng listened to Yan Xijun's words, and lightly laughed. "Don't worry, with me by your side, you're as hard as nails. Moreover, I won't let you die so easily."

"Is your guarantee useful?" Yan Xijun looked at him with a bitter face.

"It's useless, let's try it out then." Chu Yicheng roughly estimated that the current distance from the inn was neither far nor near. This group of black-clothed men were still closely pursuing them and wouldn't give up. If they didn't fight back, there would be no way to escape.

At this, Chu Yicheng stopped in his tracks and no longer ran. He instructed Yan Xijun, "You just hide behind me and don't make any rash moves. I'll protect you."

Yan Xijun understood that this was no time for joking either. With the slightest carelessness, her life would be over. She looked at him tensely and nodded slightly.

"Don't be so tense. Relax. I'll keep you safe." Chu Yicheng comforted her with a smile. At a glance, she was obviously someone who had never experienced this kind of assassination before.

"Uh-huh. I believe you. Don't let me down." Yan Xijun nodded his head, temporarily putting his life in his hands.

"Alright, I'll protect you with my life." He had gained her trust. Chu Yicheng looked at the group of black-clad men who were closing in on them with full confidence. This little scene was nothing but a joke to him, a seasoned and ruthless warrior.

On the battlefield, he was an invincible general who had never been defeated. Facing tens of thousands of soldiers, he wouldn't even bat an eye. A few black-clad men were nothing to be feared by him.

He knew he had many enemies. After all, there were not a few people who had been killed by him. It was just unknown which of these people were sent by whom.

The man in black saw that he didn't run away and thought there might be an ambush, so he approached him cautiously.

Chu Yicheng burst into loud laughter. "Haha, just you few useless trash think you can kill me? Give you a chance, tell me who sent you here, maybe I'll let you go."

Several men in black began to fear him and did not dare to approach him rashly anymore.

"A bunch of trash." The black-clothed leader cursed, "He's unarmed now. What are you afraid of? Even if he is the God of War, what can he do without his weapons?"

His words once again boosted the morale of the black-clad men, who gradually dispersed and surrounded them, pressing in on them.

Yan Xikun thought: That leader isn't stupid after all. He's good at observing and knows how to hit other people's weaknesses.

Chu Yicheng sneered coldly this time. "If you're not afraid of death, then come at me. Let's see if you can still hurt me."

The black-clothed leader also sneered, "Jing Wang, today it's either you die or I perish. Someone has paid a high price for your head. No matter what, I will complete this mission."

"Jing Wang." Yan Xikun, who was hiding behind Chuyi City, was stunned. Was he the Jing King? The war god king who had been fighting on the border for many years? Or was it Chuyi Xuan's brother, Chuyi Cheng? How could he appear in the capital city?

Many thoughts flashed through her mind, but Yan Xijun couldn't figure out what was going on. Her puzzled gaze turned to him.

Chu Yicheng saw his own identity exposed in front of her, and with a calm smile, he grasped her hand and said to the black-clothed leader: "Now that you know who I am, you should understand one thing. This king's head is very valuable. It depends on whether you have the life to take it."

"The top." The leader of the black-clad men spat out this word coldly. With a wave of his hand, all the black-clad men rushed up.

Yan Xikun didn't even know what kind of martial arts Chu Yicheng was using, only that his speed was very fast and his evasive maneuvers were also very strange. He saw him charge towards one of the black-clad men, taking two or three steps to close the distance, snatching the sword from the man's hand, then with a reverse swing, that black-clad man was beheaded by him.

His technique was swift, the speed was shocking. Yan Xijun watched his agile movements, calmly and composedly responding to attacks, the elegance of his swordsmanship, and the confident gaze in his sword-shaped eyebrows. She understood that the title of War God was not undeserved.

He deserves this title. Apart from him, no one in the world is worthy of this title.
