  ‘The lunar event? Is that why you wanted me to evolve at night, System? Is there some kind of eve- whAT THE FUCK?!’ Han Xi’s inner thoughts are cut short as she looks up towards the moon. It’s typical silver color was nowhere to be seen. Instead, it was crimson with a sliver of darkness nearing its edge. ‘Is that a total lunar eclipse?! System, what is the meaning of this?’

  [Evolution will begin in 45 seconds.]

  ‘Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! System, I am not ready yet! I need to tell Little Perv right now!’ She anxiously paws at Xu Hao and runs off farther away from everyone so they do not get too caught up in her evolution.

  Noticing her anxiety, Xu Hao frowns and quickly follows her. “Miss Han Xi?! What's wrong?! Why are you running all of a sudden?!”

  She finds a suitable pce about 100 feet (30.48 m) away from the crowd of vilgers and looks back at Xu Hao impatiently, waiting for him to catch up. Right behind Xu Hao, is Elder Fu, curious to know why their Honored Guardian was acting so frantic.

  [Evolution will begin in 30 seconds.]

  ‘Screw you and your auto-updates, System! Can’t you see I am clearly not ready?!’ she curses her system yet again internally.

  Once Xu Hao and Elder Fu catch up to Han Xi, she frantically points towards Xu Hao’s storage pouch. Catching on to what Han Xi is asking, Xu Hao takes out the Numbing Talisman, as well as the Low 1st Grade Restoration Pill and the Low 1st Grade Pain Lessening Pill, and pces them on the ground in front of her.

  “Is everything ok, Miss Han Xi? You look really panicked.” Xu Hao says worriedly.

  “Honored Guardian, please let me know if I can be of assistance.” Elder Fu says assuredly.

  [Evolution will begin in 15 seconds. It is advised the ones known as Xu Hao and Elder Fu get back.]

  Frantically, Han Xi starts pointing back towards the crowd, hoping they will get her hint to get the hell out of there. After, she quickly consumes the Low 1st Grade Pain Lessening Pill and activates the Numbing Talisman, preparing for the worst.

  Getting the hint, both of them start running back towards the crowd of vilgers near the bonfire. Xu Hao gnces back worriedly before he puts his full effort into running.

  [Evolution will begin in 5 seconds.]

  ‘Wait, if System is initiating my evolution, does that mean it already knows I wanted to evolve into a Frostveil Fox? Don’t I usually have to consciously tell it this kind of stuff?’ she thinks to herself, slightly concerned.

  [Evolution into Arctic Moon Fox is now commencing.]

  ‘Wait, Arctic Moon WHAT?! FUUUUUUUUUU-!!!’ The moment the system stated the evolution was commencing, the moon turned completely crimson, the total lunar eclipse reaching totality.

  No ter than this happening, the ambient Qi rapidly starts to decline and is absorbed into Han Xi’s body. Concurrently, a silver light emanates from within her outwards and then directly upwards towards the moon, completely encompassing a 30 foot (9.14 m) radius around her. As the beam of light seemingly reaches the moon, it progressively turns crimson returning to her, completely repcing the previously silver light.

  “W-what the hell is going o-?!” Elder Fu begins to speak, but his face turns completely pale as he follows the crimson beam of light upwards, noticing the different appearance of the moon. ‘Is she… absorbing the pure yin energy from the eclipse?!’

  Noticing his reaction, everyone in the vilge follows his gaze up towards the moon. Just like Elder Fu, everyone's bodies tense up in pce, their faces going pale.

  As the crimson light surrounding Han Xi starts to expand outwards, the ambient Qi drops even further, causing the wind to drastically pick up around her and spiral, simir to a tornado.

  Han Xi’s body tenses up as pain assaults her body, leaving her howling in agony. Her bones begin to crack and reform, her body growing rger, and new muscles fibers growing to accommodate her new rger size. As her body changes, blood gushes from her body, dyeing the surrounding snow red. ‘What the fuck?! This is so painful! That talisman and pill hardly did anything for me!!’

  [-20 HP][+5 HP][-20 HP][+5 HP][-20 HP][Skill [Minor Regeneration] has leveled up to level 3!]

  Seeing her HP rapidly dwindle and her fur turn red from blood causes Han Xi to start panicking. ‘Fuck! I am losing HP so fast, and I don’t really have much to begin with! If this keeps up too long, I might actually die!’ She struggles as she brings her mouth down to the Low 1st Grade Restoration Pill and swallows it.

  She starts absorbing the ambient Qi at an even faster rate as her beast core starts to form. As this happens, the winds circling around Han Xi picks up and swirls intensely.

  [Currently forming host’s beast core. The direwolf’s beast core shall be evacuated from the storage pouch to be integrated with host's evolution.]

  While the incredible scene unfolds in front of the vilgers, Xu Hao does not notice the direwolf’s beast core being ejected from his storage pouch and falling onto the ground. Shortly after, the beast core is broken down, and starts to be reformed by the system into a second core, being repurposed to aid her.

  Elder Fu finally snaps out of his daze and realizes what's happening. As the winds pick up, the fire from the bonfire starts to raise up into the air. This causes the fmes to become sporadic and threaten to engulf the nearby onlookers.

  Motioning back towards the forest, Elder Fu speaks up with urgency, “Everyone, get away from here as quickly as possible! This is likely to turn too dangerous up close!”

  The vilgers quickly turn around and start running back towards the forest to watch from a safer distance. Xu Hao, however, does not turn tail and run. He moves away from the bonfire but stays in the open area to support Han Xi in whatever small way he can.

  “Miss Han Xi! Don’t forget to use the Low 1st Grade Restoration Pill!” Xu Hao shouts out helpfully.

  Han Xi groans loudly from both pain and annoyance. ‘Of course I took the damn Low 1st Grade Restoration Pill; why wouldn’t I have?! Stupid Little Perv!’

  [The host's first beast core has been formed. Integrating [Frost Seed].]

  As the frost seed starts to integrate with Han Xi’s beast core, the temperature of her surroundings decreases significantly. The fire being quickly smothered by the cold temperatures and intense winds, now repced with a swirling blizzard. The crimson light surrounding Han Xi reflects and sparkles off the snow swirling around her, resulting in a truly breathtaking scene that could awe any cultivator.

  [Extraordinary pure yin Qi from the total lunar eclipse has caused the [Frost Seed] to mutate into a [Pure Yin Frost Seed]. Finalizing integration.]

  Han Xi screams from the pain as her body starts to freeze over, icicles forming on her fur as the temperature reaches an all-time low.

  ‘F-Fuck that's cold! If things keep going like this, I am going to die!’ Han Xi starts to panic as her HP drops below 50, bringing her close to death. At this point, she remembers she has a [Health Pill] in her system inventory. She wastes no time by reaching into her system inventory and pulling out the pill and quickly swallowing it, fully restoring her HP in a matter of seconds.

  ‘That should hold me off for a while longer. This better be almost over!’ she thinks to herself hopefully.

  Han Xi grasps at her head in agony as the divine abilities are etched into her, giving her a throbbing headache. ‘AGHHH! The headaches from learning divine abilities never get easier, does it!?’

  [Initiating the development of a new bloodline.]

  The icicles and frost on her body start to fall off and dissipate as her resistance to ice improves, the pain starting to become more manageable. ‘Agh. I think we are finally nearing the end? Hurry up and finish my evolution, System!!’

  [Host has acquired a new bloodline, [Bloodline of the Crimson Shrouded Moon].]

  Immediately following that announcement, her consciousness ever so briefly fades to bck, and then transitions to a field covered in grass and flowers. Her attention is drawn upwards towards the moon. It’s beautiful crimson glow radiates onto the scene below. Laying on a hill in that very field, is a fox in human form, with yellow eyes, bck hair and fur on her fox ears and a single tail. Her breaths shallow, as she stares into the night sky calmly.

  Her consciousness returns to her body, but only for a moment, as another image fshes through her mind. A young woman with flowing silver hair and gray streaks can be seen sitting in a chair seemingly made of glittering, cosmic-appearing energy. Her lips are curled upwards in a gentle smile while her eyes are narrowed ever so slightly, giving off a caring, yet mischievous feel. Her eyes, like her hair, were also silver, and reminiscent of the moon.

  [Lunar Swift Steps]The user uses lunar energy to move rapidly with blindingly swift steps. An afterimage is left briefly flickering in the user's previous position after every use.

  [Lunar Surge]Actively uses stored lunar energy to boost all stats by 1.5x. This ability becomes passive whenever the moon is out and does not actively use stored lunar energy.

  Han Xi’s screaming becomes more intense as she acquires the new divine abilities, writhing in agony. After a few minutes, the pain finally starts to die down, along with the blizzard that was spiraling around her. Her body finally going limp and unconscious in the field, injured from her evolution.

  Tears flowing from his eyes freely, Xu Hao starts running towards where Han Xi y on the ground, motionless and wounded. “H-Han Xi! Please be ok!!!” he yells out towards her in desperation, unsure if she has survived her evolution, or has perished. He runs up directly next to her and kneels down, starting to inspect her condition. “Don’t die on me, Han Xi…”

  In a higher realm, a familiar looking goddess that has silver hair with gray streaks smiles softly, staring into a cloud of glittering cosmic mist, watching Han Xi’s evolution complete. “Congratutions, my child, for your first accomplishment on my path to rebirth. You still have quite a ways to go, and I look forward to watching what kind of mischief you bring onto this world~.”
