Today. Let us do some memory infusion. I very recently started working on a new book! It is called 'Eternal Incarnation'. I won't explain what that means as it is spoilers.
But it follows a person from a sect established by Anon Amos from 'The Legend of Axiom'.
Today I wanted to talk about my writing a bit.
I have noticed some of my weaknesses when it comes to writing. I think I lack a lot in worldbuilding and my pacing can be a bit crazy sometimes. I think this stems from me always wanting to do something interesting in each chapter.
But doing that squeezes the potential of the entire novel.
So my goal with this new story is to tell a story with slightly better worldbuilding and slightly better pacing. But I learned a lesson from 'The Legend of Axiom'.
The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there.
One of the reasons that went on hiatus was due to the lack of interest in it. I'll give an example of a random chapter from say 'Immortal'.
'2: Chapter 42: Immortal Realm'.
This chapter is quite far into the book. But it got 700+ views. Some chapters even surpassed this. Here is an example of a chapter from 'The Legend of Axiom'.
'Chapter 45: Complex Ritual'
This chapter is also near the latest release. But it only got 45 views...
I'm pretty sure a decent chunk of those is just scrappers or bots from search engines/sites that copy content. I do realize it is a bad idea to focus on the numbers.
But if nobody is reading it and I spend a few hours on each chapter. It just makes me feel like I am wasting my time. I then got a single review on that book which was a 0.5 star rating...
This by itself is expected, but a bit discouraging.
I had a lot of fun writing the book as a challenge for the writathon. But it didn't perform as great as I expected.
I guess my expectations were set too 'high' from my other books.
I'll give another example.
5,922 views is the total views for 'The Legend of Axiom'. 72,000+ words
23,064 views is the total views from 'God's Death'. 73,000+ words
"God's Death" was my first book ever. Yet, it performed better then one of my latest novels despite having fewer chapters and being of similar length.
105,309 views is the total views for 'Immortal'. 144,000+ words.
So what will I be doing differently with my new book? I'll pretty much be ignoring the stats and ratings this time. I'll mainly be writing for myself as there is a concept I want to see explored.
But this book isn't some sort of challenge. I will try to take my time and post whenever I feel like writing.
The views/ratings/stats never really bothered me before. But the real thing that sucked was it made me feel like I was no longer improving.
I have written 800,000+ words so far, clocking in at 700+ chapters. It always felt like I was growing before and improving. But it feels as if I've been stuck at a bottleneck in my writing recently.
So hopefully I 'breakthrough' this bottleneck in my new book.
